Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 79! GEEZ! Then tomorrow rain and it cools down again. We’re startin’ to be on that cusp between Winter and Spring down heah so the weather could be anything for the next couple of weeks. Of course tomorrow will be rainy because I get to travel around the territory some tomorrow. I’ll be spendin’ a pretty good amount of my time at irk the next few days goin’ around to the different sites to meet host agencies and program participants. I get to do this once a month. Rah.
Bumba glad the eyeball will be fine but I was lookin’ forward to pics of ya in eyepatches. I was picturin’ you with eyepatches for everyday, evenin’ wear and special occasion wear. You’re right about the parrot though. They are kinda messy and high maintenance.
StickyBuns I have Plastic Jesus stuck in my haid now. I’d google and post a link to the song for those amongst us who don’t know it but well, that’s effort and it’s too early for effort.
Now I need more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, irk purtification must commence.
It appears I forgot to turn my computer off last night. I guess I need to check the history to see what the cats were up to while I slept…
**Bumba **- you can still wear an eye patch - as a fashion statement!!! Just don’t get one with rhinestones, because the backings will just scratch your eye all over again!
**Spaz **- excellent!!!
**Tugig **- I thought about you last night when I heard the verdict read, then this morning, I heard about the sentencing recommendation, so it sounds like you’ll be done with C’ville… till next time…
I am showered and dressed, but not fed or caffeinated, so I’m going to run to the WaWa for a sammich. Today, we might see 70° - I anticipate opening the windows for a brief airing this afternoon. Yay!
Wow FCM, she looks like the tail gunner on a B-29.
No travel, Swampster. That was one of my stipulations when we had our baby.
It’s all good, gt. I’ll have a larger team, more early adopter technology, etc.
[Beavis]
Heh, you said adopter.
[/Beavis]
Firday is almost here. For you 9/80 folks it is already.
Oh, btw Rebo, the district letter about the wrecked school bus just came out. No evidence of mechanical malfunction on the recorder devices, in the onboard video, in a post crash examination, in mechanical history records of the manufacturer, etc. Ch. 11 is doing a followup tonite.
The driver is now looking for more suitable employment.
Just waking up, sipping on some coffee. We didn’t clock out until midnight, a pretty good day in a shop with overtime es verboten! going on right now.
Will have to spend a few hours packing the truck up. In my rush to get out last night I didn’t toss the seafood pizza our reporter ordered (complete with clam shells). I am hoping it got cold enough to be a refrigerator last night…
When the shit started to hit the fan at 6:45 last night we had a number of technical hurdles to leap. It took about 45 minutes to get settled in, then when I had a moment I happened to glance at the forecast and radar, and saw what looked like some light rain about an hour out. I went and warned the crews (about 40 cameras - pretty damn big clusterfuck even in DC standards) and people reluctantly started moving for their protective gear.
I have not seen a downpour that big in the middle of a news event in years. It was like somebody was on top of the courthouse with a dozen firehoses and a vendetta. Seriously, the only time we shoot in weather like that is covering a hurricane.
I am guessing I will support a crew working on a final wrap up story today. Charlottesville has been nice but I can say I am glad it’s over. I need a little humble abode time.
I’m gonna go post a bunch of pictures on Facebook then I will come back and link them.
I’m feeling a bit of the winter malaise. It’s the right time, February, and everything is in the doldrums. I’m doing the right stuff to cheer myself up - I went to Joanne’s yesterday and bought some more jewelry making supplies, and a banana plant kit they had for $5!!! I also found they had some scrapbooks on sale so I bought three. I don’t scrapbook as a rule but I’m finding for vacations it might be a nice idea, so I’m going to do one for our D.C. trip last year, one for Vegas, and I plan to start one for hiking…this way I might be more inclined to go hiking more often. We went last weekend and had a perfectly lovely time frolicking in the snow.
But still…when will winter be over??? It hasn’t even been dreadfully cold but I am tired of it.
Moving Day is almost here. In about an hour, the home network is being packed up, so I’ll be offline for a couple of days.
The house will be jumping tomorrow. The burglar alarm and U-verse installers are both due to arrive in the early afternoon, and the new bedroom furniture is due to arrive in the late afternoon.
At least we’ll be able to show our friends several hundred pounds of dressers and bed frames that they didn’t have to move.
Been referred to a neurosurgeon for some horrid spinal injections
Not sure when yet, but they’ve put it through as an ‘urgent’. Eek. Not wholly sure what they’re planning to do- I’m not sure if I want to either… Will be worth it if it means I can actually get out of the house and do stuff again.
I think I’ll pass on the babeh front for now- they’re far too much effort. Other people’s are fun to play with, but then you get to give them back when they go all screamy or start smelling funny. Maybe hormones will defeat my rational brain at some point, but I’m happy with axolotyl tiddlers for now.
Nuts I’m sure gotti who’s had such injections AIR can fill you in on the details. AIR, also FairyChatDad has had the same so maybe MOOOOOOM can have some input. It sounds ick however.
Howdy Y’all I’m at da cave. Ima go input some case notes from today in a bit. This is one of those just as easy done at home things and since my roamin’ around today ended up with me bein’ within a mile of da cave I could not see goin’ back just to do that. Plus also I have made up a beastloaf which is bakin’ away and startin’ to smell nummy! Cabbage, mac 'n cheese and corn muffins will be made in a while. A nice comfort food dindin!
gotti good luck with all the movin’, delivery, installation stuff. Of course you’re probably offline at this point and won’t see this but I posted it anyway.
giggity sounds like an adventure. Lookin’ forward to the pics.
lieu I hear ya re the travel. I don’t mind roamin’ around southwest Jawja but I’m kinda over gallavantin’ to and fro across the country for irk purposes.
MOOOOOOM ummmm… Wonder how long before that’s spotted at people of wal*mart.
Now I shall go forth and be productive. Those case notes are not gonna do themselves you know.
Filbert - you have my sympathy. I had cortisone injections in my back in 2005 and they didn’t work, hurt like a mo-fo, and caused my CSF to elevate enough to make my optic discs bulge. In other words, they are the cause of my current headache (literally). I hope yours are a success and not too painful.
So, I had the MRI yesterday and I have my doctor’s appointment tomorrow. The MRI will show if there are any masses in my head but they wont show if my problem is still increased CSF pressure. My doc will have to decide on Friday whether or not I have enough symptoms to need to see a neurologist.
I started taking the acetazolamide on Tuesday night. Since then I have developed the two most common side effects (tingling fingers - or tingling hands and fingers in my case, and altered sense of taste - particularly with carbonated drinks). The tingling doesn’t hurt but it is definitely annoying.
My headache does get better for a few hours after I take the pill (which is an indicator that CSF pressure is the cause of the headache) but I’m only supposed to take it twice a day and it definitely doesn’t last 12 hours.
The pain hasn’t gotten bad enough for an Imitrex, though I could have used one a week ago.
I have decided to stop going to my astronomy lectures. I have tried to learn something from my professor but it’s just not happening. I could learn more from 10 minutes on Wikipedia. Apparently there have been a lot of complaints from this semester’s class and the rating on ratemyprofessor.com is supposedly very low. The only thing that happens in my lecture is that I get pissed off that I’m wasting my financial aid on the class and then I try to get some homework done for another class. It’s all very frustrating. Luckily she doesn’t take attendance and she has no clue who shows up from day to day. Additionally, class participation isn’t part of my grade, which is lucky because she’s too deaf to hear us when we try to ask questions.
Damn. I just checked the rating she has. Out of 47 ratings (most I’ve ever seen), her overall rating is 1.8. All the complaints are the same ones my friend and I have right now. :smack: One of these days I’ll remember to check that site before choosing my classes.
Beast stroganoff for supper - it’s simmering away. Daughter is coming to eat with us, but she won’t be here till an hour after everything is cooked. She couldn’t have called me earlier to tell me she’d be late… But I’m pretty sure it’ll keep. I just won’t add the sour cream till she gets here.
Apart from running to the grocery store and cleaning the kitchen, all I’ve done today is crochet in front of TV. I thought about dragging out the vacuum, but working on the afghan won. Retirement is just one decision after another…
There has been a whole bunch of practice but no sign of success yet.
Today is my Friday kinda. Last day in the office this week as I am headed to visit a supplier tomorrow but I should be back earlyish tomorrow afternoon. Whoohoo.
Nect week I am off travelling to Shrevport, LA. Envy me!
Beastloaf sounds yum swampy!
Congo good luck with the headaches and the awful professor.
So, there’s this story about a woman who wants to sell a chikin McNugget that looks like George Washington. First, looks like George Washington? Second, you’re supposed to eat 'em not sit there, examine each little nugget and decide who it might look like. They all look like little glops of fried compressed chikin meat to me.
