*SEVENTY DEGREES!! * Wish it was here to stay, but Monday’s forecast high is 42. ick
I’ve made my dinner decision - steamed shrimp, cauliflower, and whatever bagged frozen N.O.T. I’ve got - tots, I think. The shrimp are thawing - I was going to make shrimp scampi, but my sweetie requested steamed, so that’s fine - it’s easier, for sure.
Laundry is done and I’ve started knitting a red cap. I decided to do a few more hats rather than another afghan. It’s all theraputic.
Well, I got over my almost-flu in a day and a half, which means either it wasn’t the flu, or it was, but my prior vaccination kicked in and tromped the virus.
Dropped stuff off at Goodwill, have boxes and boxes of books to take to the library. My laundry’s so far behind, it’s not even funny. The puppy is clingy. Dad figured out that Mom was hiding the keys, but she’s talked him into waiting to drive until they hear from the internist (and hopefully, he’s going to say ‘no more driving’).
I think I wannna be a booger once more, and I want to recruit all of you who also hang out on Facebook. Tomorrow is VunderKind’s 24th birthday, so if you want to play along, find him and wish him a happy birthday over there. Since he won’t know who y’all are, he’ll figure out soon enough I’m behind it.
I want to be vague here, so if you need help finding him, contact me there.
Howdy Y’all! Home from irk and tahrd! I took some skettie sauce outta da freezer ths mornin’ and it very nicely thawed in the fridge. How cooperative! Got some noodles on now and gonna make a green sallit and some garlic bread. Easy Peasy dindin!
Nuts yay for pain free walkin’!
gotti you moved next door to a fire station? :dubious: Well, not that it’s a bad idea…
MOOOOOOM I think you’ve made up my mind what to have for dindin tomorrow. I shall go to the Publix and buy some shrimpies and get ‘em steamed. This will work since I am irkin’ from da cave tomorrow. Excellent suggestion!
It snowed again last night, but it was mostly gone this morning. I knew it snowed 'cause the dumb dog woke me up at 2:30 this morning. There was about 2" on the ground at that time.
Swampy, I bought TP on Wed., so we’re covered.
Bobbio, the compressor and tool boxes are in the garage. When you coming by?
P.S. I prefer cash.
We live 5 blocks from the fire station, which is plenty close enough for me. They are altogether too fond of their horns and sirens, thankyouverymuch! Especially at 2:00am!
Yay for successful surgery Nuts. I’ve never had hallucinations from anesthetic, I feel cheated.
I did like morphine though, first time in many years I was totally pain-free.
Saturday is Wifey’s Birthday, so I’m taking her out for hoity-toity dinner tonight. Tonight is ‘Pan-Asian’ night at the Subterra restaurant.
I’ve been to two of theses dinners and they are great fun, specially since we will undoubtably know half the people in the room. There’s a group of about 20 - 30 people who have a regular Friday night ‘Group Therapy’ (wine and munchies) session that we sorta belong to. Many of them will be there.
So, I decided to get a little head start on irk stuff for tomorrow. EGAD! YIKES! MERCY! It is so painful to read some of the entries in the files. I’m goin’ through ‘em and somehow, someway, figurin’ out how to edit ‘em to make sense (meanin’ that they’re in some semblance of English) without c hangin’ the context of the entry. EGAD! YIKES! MERCY!
A work friend just called to tell me our boss’s assistant passed away. She collapsed during her workout this afternoon.
I knew she’d collapsed because I was in my boss’s office when they called to tell him. He went to the hospital with her (she was working out in our workplace fitness center). She leaves behind a teenage daughter (15, I think), and 3 teen stepdaughters as well as her husband. We weren’t close friends, but we’d known each other for over 20 years.
I’m really sorry, gt. With a 15 yo she must have been far too young for anyone to have forseen this. Tough anytime but especially when it’s so unexpected.
Thanks, lieu. I think she was 45, extremely athletic. She’d had a really nasty virus during the last week and was still really hoarse yesterday in our staff meeting.
I’m having a beerverage in her honor and watching What’s Up Doc? to distract myself for a bit. (I’ve seen it about a million times and still love it.)
Glad the surgery went well, Fil. And glad the move has gone pretty smoothly, gotti.
I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting. For now, rosie’s sig and extra hugs for all.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 79 and windy. Tomorrow promises to be stormy. ICK! Well, since we got nuttin’ big planned it can storm all day.
gt I’m so sorry. Though any death of somebody we know is tragic, a sudden death like that seems even more tragic.
nuts how ya feelin’ today?
Today is irk from home day. More fun with efiles. Plus I shall go to the sto’ cause now I got steamed shrimpies on my mind. What to do for sides? Maybe steam some new N.O.T. and make some slaw. I got the N.O.T. and half of a cabbage that I need to use up. I see a plan comin’ together.
Now I shall seek more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. I think I shall also purtify so’s I can go and brave the wilds of Publix grocery sto’ at some point.
Wow, GT, that’s so sad! I can’t imagine what it must be like for her family.
We were slugs this morning - slept in till 6, which is unusual on a work day. I made FCD’s lunch (corned beef and provolone on rye with mustard) then cleaned the gawd-awful mess that was my kitchen. I didn’t feel like doing the dishes after supper, so I just left them. Unfortunately, I also left out the shrimp shells, and boy did the kitchen reek! But it’s all clean now.
Some time today, I must brave the wilds of California and go to WalMart. We’re getting low on kitteh litter, and while we can get along without certain things, that ain’t one of them. I’ll try to go early, before too many Walmartians show up. In fact, I’ll probably shower shortly, dress, and go, and grab something breakfast-like along the way. Sounds like a plan.
Happy Firday! Start of the last weekend before we change our clocks, I believe. I probably should have looked that up first, but I feel like living dangerously!
Mornin’ people! Still ok today- I had a few weird twinges in the night, but nothing to bother with, so no complaints there.
I didn’t hallucinate with the anaesthesia by the way- though I do recall dreaming about posting on the Dope when they brought me round- I was trying to scroll down on a pillow
I’ve got a bit low blood pressure I think, so I’m still getting a bit woozy if I try and walk far, but it’s all ok. Not sittin’ up straight yet much- not supposed to sit up any length of time, really, for another week. Lie down or stand, no sittin’.
Glad you’re feeling better, Nuts!
Everyone cross your fingers and toes and… whatever else. Someone is interested in my big oven and is coming out to look at it this morning. Here’s hoping he’ll at least buy one deck and maybe some of the other various pieces parts of catering stuff that we have laying around the house.
TGI Firday. It’s supposed to snow about an inch, just enough to crap everything up but not enough to be pretty. My right eye is all red and itchy from allergies. Blech. But I’m going to the eye dr. tomorrow for my annual eye and get new contact and glasses appointment so he can look at it and tell me it’s allergies.
Nothin’ good on the lunch menu today. They SAY there’s chicken soup but I’ll believe that if I see it.
Back from my foray to the wilds of the 'Mart. So much for missing the crowd - they had 2 regular checkouts and 3 express checkouts open, with way long lines at the regulars. Lucky for me, I only had 17 items, so I was able to get out via express.
The house still reeks of shrimp, but it’s not supposed to get warm enough for me to open the windows. Maybe if I bake bread, it’ll counteract the shrimpy smell? If not, we’ll still have fresh bread, so there’s that.
