baker, I’m old enough to remember when, if you were a female past the age of first communion, you covered your head in a Catholic church. Most funerals and memorial services that I attend aren’t held in a place of worship, but I try to follow the ruls of dress for those that are. I’ve worn ankle length skirts, head coverings from a simple chapeau to an hijab and long sleeves in the midsouth in July out of respect.
Mooooooom, if baby engineer has a paperclip container, make a chain from all of the clips in it. You can thank me later.
His paperclips are on a magnetic thingy - hooking them all together has some promise…
I need to call my credit union this morning. The checks I deposited in the night drop yesterday morning haven’t shown up in my account, and I am not pleased!!! I’ve got their number written in red on a sticky note.
About the fire yesterday - 2 little kids died - 3 and 2 years old. It was one of 4 recent fires with fatalities in the area where there were no working smoke alarms. Make sure you have operational smoke alarms! Remind your families, too. Thanks.
Other than that, just another day in paradise. Happy Wednesday.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and dark but TWPTB say clear, with a predicted high of 84 and N.O.S. for the day. Looks like we may be in Spring for real now. I was goin’ to post when we got back from Tammie’s service last night but it was almost nine o’clock and we were tahrd so went to bed instead. There was a large crowd there. I got drafted for ush duty due to the number of folks that showed up. The gatherin’ afterwards in the Parish hall was really nice. Lots and lots and lots of food! A lot of people stayed for that as well and if’n anybody went away hungry then it was that body’s fault.
Bathroom remodel starts today. Just removal of wallpaper and prep this week. Next week starts the complete makeover of the guest bathroom. When that is done, the master bathroom gets a complete makeover. After that, new floors and that will be it for da cave re-model. Except maybe I will go ahead with the re-screenin’ of the back porch. Or not. Also, hopefully, I get twuck back today.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, onward into the day.
I was just about to call the credit union when I decided to check our account - the deposit has been made. So that’s good.
**swampy **- do you wake up perplexed, wondering where you are, what with all the overhauling withing the cave?? After all, you’re so old and easily confused.
My bladder woke me too early, then the brats started acting up and kept me up.
Supposed to rain all day here, and get up to 50.
Nothing special to do today. I have to take Sah-son to the college for his math test.
Once school is out, I am going to push him to get his license.
I want him to go with me Firday, but he is pretty determined not to go. He needs to see his grandmother, but I think he can’t stand the chaos. I can barely tolerate the chaos at her house.
It’ll be good for him to get out. He has a lot of school work this week, but I am sure he can take a day off and get it all done.
Sahirrnee, take him with you with the following deal: have a code word, and when it gets too much, exchange the code, and one of you needs to go home due to intestinal distress. Should be good for a quick exit.
Sari,Aliens idea sounds like a good to me…long as son-unit doesn’t use it 3 minutes after getting there…
FCM, tragic about the kids; I have both smoke and CO2 alarms and I think I’ll check their batteries today.
As for baby engineer, I remember in revenge for a prank pulled on me going into the office and emptying his entire desk down to the last paperclip to another empty desk across the hall. probably too much work and I think you like the kid, but if he ever really gets on your nerves…
Already in the 60’s heading for the 70’s today, but rain is due this evening and all day tomorrow which will cool it down some. Got after my insurance folks about the work done to my house due to the water leak, they said they were going to discuss it on the 20th…even if they stiff me, at least let me know you’re going to be Bas***** about it.
Yeah – ship for brains.
On other news I did decide to volunteer for Sunday. Either TPTB overestimated how many people will blow off the day (we have a lot of foreign nationals and non-Christians who seem confused by the fuss) and it will be an easy day. Or TPTB guessed right and we’ll be hammered. Either way it could be ships <G> and giggles.
Skool’s out for Easter! Over 2 weeks off!! Woohoo! Partay time!¡!
Wait… what d’you mean I’m going to stay at home like a responsible grown up, get the car serviced, get totally up to date with course work and maybe try and get a few extra shifts at work…? Two end of module hand in deadlines almost as soon as I get back…?
I have made my Baby Engineer Prank decision. I’m going to get a sack of plastic Easter eggs and fill them with such things as rivets, assorted hardware, metal shavings, paper clips, and maybe a few jelly beans or something. I’ll hide them in and around his desk. Boss likes the idea.
**MetalMouse **- I do like the kid. He’s smart and hard-working, if somewhat naive. Hiding the eggs will be a hoot!
We don’t need a code word Alien, when my son is ready he will give me ‘the look’, and if I ignore him he will blurt it out. Unfortunately, MetalMouse, it usually is shortly after we get there.
I don’t know why, because they have a good time discussing politics (even though they disagree on everything) and the stock market. I usually fall asleep. I think if it was just the three of us he would want to stay longer.
I don’t know who will be there. I guess the kids will not have school that day. I don’t know if my niece is recovering still, she spent her tax refund on a new nose and new boobs.
FCM at my last corporate job I had 6 little troll dolls on top my computer. The little ones that are about an inch high without their hair. I came in one day to find that one of my co-workers had put them in some rather ‘interesting’ positions. My poor little innocent trolls weren’t so innocent anymore. We had those cabinets above our desks where you lift the door and slide it in overtop the shelves. I figured marbles were too noisy, and styrofoam peanuts were too messy, so I made a bunch of origami boxes and stuffed them in there. Scared the crap out of him when they all came tumbling out.
I maybe should have gotten an older dog MetalMouse. I don’t remember puppies being so much work, but then again, in the past I always had multiple dogs so the older dogs would help train the pups and keep them busy. I was not expecting this much energy with Ripple though, Shar-pei are considered to be low energy dogs suitable for apartment living. Mackie had nowhere near this much energy, even as a puppy. He also didn’t get bored as easily, and was nowhere near this stubborn. I guess the pug half made him a bit more mellow.
I was also leery of bringing an adult dog into a house with a cat. I had hoped growing up with a cat, Ripple would get along with cats. In actuallity he does, he could kill the cat if he wanted to, the cat wouldn’t stand a chance. He just plays too rough, but even when they fight he never really hurts the cat. The cat is a lot nastier than Ripple is. I hope as he gets older and a little less excitable he will be able to play nice.
Trying to do more on stoopit ‘Employability skills’ essay. Decided to search for related books from the liberry, to give myself something sounding intralectrical to cite. Typed in some key words, stuff came up.
So, who reckons I can work ‘Interview with a Vampire’ into this thing?
I’ve got a dozen plastic eggs and some candies for hiding in Baby Engineer’s half of the office. **FCD **will give me some other stuff to include. Now all I need to do is find places to stash them all - hope I can find a couple of places where they’ll languish for a while. Preferably till I’ve left!
