I’m with you. I only like to see the sunrise if I’ve been up all night. Getting up that early is just wrong.
Pizza Hut for dinner tonight. I’m looking forward to the traditional accompaniment (beer!) more than the pizza. ![]()

Thou art more cool than I had believed.
:dubious:
Home from irk, frozen pizza baking. Gotta open tomorrow, after closing tonight. Urgh.
Current earworm is In The Halls of the Mountain King…
Better than a few I have. Why is it that the most annoying songs are the most persistent earworms?
Blurf!
Fun was had last night at the pub, but it was a late night for me as I didn’t get to bed until nearly midnight…and I need my sleep. So I was awake at 1.30am for ages, and had a lot of things running around in my head keeping me awake. I was also awake before the alarm was due so I was up early too. Quiet day at irk though, we are busy trying to look busy. Today we have no managers in the office, I don’t know how we’ll cope with that. Adrift, rudderless in the sea!
Up, caffeinated, off to work. It’s my Firday.
You mean the fact that the urge to sing “In The Jungle” is only a whim away, a whim away, a whim away…?![]()
That usually ends up involving cannibalism.
Yeah, I know that most of you already know my news, both good and bad, from FB, but now that I have a moment or two to breathe I wanted to post it here as well.
Two weeks ago my grandma passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was an amazing, kind and caring woman who practically raised me. While I hate to see her gone, I am glad that she didn’t linger in an unresponsive bedridden state for years like her mother did before her. I like to think that what she had left of her sheer will told her it was time to go so that her family wouldn’t have to take care of her indefinitely like she did for my great grandmother who died from complications of Alzheimer’s as well.
The worst, of course, is my grandpa. Having Alzheimer’s as well, it is very hard for him to remember what happened. He has understandably been very disoriented lately. My dad has written him several notes and put them around the house. He reads them over and over during the day.
My good news is that after 2 1/2 years of dating that RT has asked me to marry him and I said yes. According to him, I didn’t say yes (or anything) right away so he had to ask me twice more. I have no recollection of this. :dubious:
Either way, the answer** is** yes. We picked out a very simple engagement ring and it will be ready on Christmas Eve. We haven’t officially set a date yet due to other extenuating circumstances, however, I’m thinking somewhere between Thanksgiving and New Year’s next year. It’s going to be a relatively small wedding, but there will be an open Mumper invitation for anyone who wants to come!
Maybe you could set up a live stream with a private link and post that here.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> and rainy out with a predicted high of 72 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. From the looks of the radar, we should be in for some stormy weather in about an hour.
StickyBuns I’m so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. On the other hand, congrats on the engagement. Think long and hard. Do you really want a buncha rowdy, sometimes non-coaster usin’ Mumpers there on your most happy of days?
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack irk purtification must commence. This will be a day in the orifice. I have no intentions of runnin’ around in the rain. ICK!
Happy Thursday Y’all!
**sticky **- Dec 9 is a good date - it’s worked for us for 32 years!
**kopek **- you’re joining the ranks of idle bums?? What will you do for aggravation?
Speaking of aggravation, a certain feline decided he needed to pee in front of my closet this morning. I’ve gotten really good at hauling out the carpet cleaner and getting it up and running in less than a minute, having done it last night to clean up cat puke… So there’s a 2 sq ft area in front of my closet that’s now clean, if damp. Much as I hate to do it, I fear we may have to put an extra cat box in the hall bathroom. Stoopit cat.
Today is, theoretically, my last day till the 28th. I just talked to the boss, and he’ll be in that day, so that’s good. Weekend of smokeage ahead, plus some other pre-trip chores. Here’s hoping I can sleep a bit, too.
Happy Thursday!
{{{{{sticky}}}}}
And congrats
BLURF
{{{{{Sticky}}}}} and congrats on the engagement!
Careful what you ask for… and congratulations!
{{{{Sticky}}}} But hugs on the impending wedding…I have heard of roller-coaster emotions, but your must be world-record setting…
What a day. Found out last night I have to go to Dayton, Ohio 21-22 December, get back late on the 22nd, work a half day the 23rd, then take off for my brother’s house in St. Louis for Xmas, then drive back Sunday the 27th to get back to work. Oh joy.
And my left knee (or leg near the knee) is hurting and causing me to limp slightly and I haven’t the faintest clue what I did to it.
And I’m spending today reviewing 50 applications for GS-12 applicants (part of a panel that does these reviews) so that will eat up the rest of the day, which started at 0515…
So BLURF!!
i went back to sleep. now I’m awake
We are happy to learn that you are not somnambulizing.

Lunch break!! After all the days of nothing, all of a sudden, I have tons to do. Which is good - the day is zipping by! Plus this should be the last day till the 28th… I hope.
It’s been raining like crazy here. Luckily, it was raining a little when I came in, so I had my umbrella. I’m prepared for quitting time.
In more ways than one.
Lack of chocolate is distressing. I may have to check the vending machine.
If she was sleep reading psalms in a church, would that make her somnambul lector?:p:D
Happy Thorsday!
Grey day today outside.
What a morning already, I haven’t even had breakfast and it’s time for lunch.
Irk was busy, and then my mother called, getting the Christmas plans together. Then she lets me know a senior apartment is coming up faster than she thought so now she is moving sooner than anticipated. That means getting stuff out of her house now instead of waiting until spring.
I got another interesting call. I haven’t delivered papers in years but one of the customers called me this morning. Usually it’s because they didn’t get their paper and they call me to bring one to them. I let them know I haven’t worked in years and they have to call the office. I ran recovery when I worked there and I used to give customers my number, that way the carrier wouldn’t get fined $2, and the agents report would look better, and it was faster for me than waiting for the customer to call the office which would then relay the info to me.
Anyway, this customer called because he wants his carriers name and address so he can send the tip directly to the carrier. That I will help with because if a customer sends the tip into the paper the agent will keep the tip. I’d rather see the carrier get it, so I’ve made a few calls and am waiting to hear back. I figured out that I was being ripped off @$4,500 a year by the agent keeping my tips.
I heard they have cut the pay so badly, I don’t know how they are keeping carriers. They are getting 10 cents for a daily paper and 11 cents for the Sunday paper - that wouldn’t even be worth getting out of bed.
I guess I’d better get busy.
