It's the MDMMP!! (Memorial Day Monday Morning Post...Fool!)

Hey I clicked on a Google ad! It said “Rocket Dog Shoes” and I had to see 'em. Can you imagine a dog flying around with rockets in his shoes?

Other than that I’m bored.

It’s raining here too, of course. The Memorial Tournament (big deal in the world of pro golf) is this week and it’s a tradition that it rains. They even changed weeks at some point so that there would be fewer chances of rain, but nope, it pretty much rains every year for at least part of it.

You could just make it a slightly pre-MMP, taxi. I’m sure we’ll all find it.

Cool clogs, LiLi. I’ve thought it would be fun to get some like those, but haven’t gotten there. Oh…and of course, I’d be happy to be your gardener. “Will work for chocolate,” that’s my motto.

So where’s Mika this week? I thought she was just going to Vegas for a long weekend? Did I just not pay attention?

Thanks for the nice comments on the garden. I’m having lots of fun with it this year. Tree peonies are really cool (and generally very expensive), Ellen. The previous owners planted them. They’re a little bit too close to the house, but they’re touchy about being moved, so I’ll probably just wind up pruning the part that’s closest to the house. (I have two, one in front and one in back.) Might acquire at least one more eventually. They’re kind of odd looking during the winter, but I think they have character.

Oh, and I’m a total fool for lilacs, Puggy. The one in the picture was here when I bought the house. I like it because it blooms way later than other lilacs and because it’s a pretty shape. I’ve got another one in back and want to get at least two more, preferably ones that bloom at different times from the other two.

Well…gotta do some cleaning in here since it’s raining out…

Back after a while.

I got “Pippin” on the brain. Friends and I are going to see a local production in a fwe weeks, and I love that show. I couldn’t wait to get home so I could play the album. Over and over again!
Broadway musicals make me happy.

OK, people. Here’s a Rule:
If you have a dog, and your dog has hair, you must brush your dog.

“But I have a Boxer! I don’t have to brush my Boxer!” I hear the whining already. Sorry, it’s a Rule. You still have to brush your Boxer. And your Italian Greyhound. They don’t take hardly no time to brush, so don’t whine about it.

Seems simple and straightforward enough…

Ooooh, rosie, I love Pippin too. Haven’t seen it in a really really long time.

Still procrastinating on the cleaning thing…

GT (all right, I’m moving already!)

The Day Started Off So Well…

I got up early, and went to morning Mass. I took the dog for a walk on the greenway. We ran into a family of Canadian geese on a bridge. It turned into a 3 minute staredown, while the dog tried to figure out what they were, and what is goose for “Spare me, eat the boy.” When I got home I checked my e-mail, and when I got to the MMP, my computer died. So I am typing ths on my ancient PC(233Mhz ,246Mb RAM, Windoze ME   .) It is sllllooooooowwww. End Rant

Thanks Tupug!
**gt[/],neat garden. I have the gardening ability of Agent Orange.

I’ll whine, too.

We walked away from the house in Mayberry. The best way to fix all of the problems foundin the home inspection would be with a paid up insurance policy, a can of gasoline, and a match. One third if the the floor joists were dry rotted to the point that there would be structural failure in 2-3 years, and it got worse from there.

Off to look at another place down the road from the money pit Saturday…

Bummer about the house, Bobbio. But better to find out now… Good luck with the continued search.

Well…didn’t get anything done, but I guess I needed the break…

Off to bed…

GT

Don’t worry, Bobbio, your house is out there. It’s just waiting for you to see the rest before you see the best

Yikes! Loud booming thunder! Shook the house - Smokey ran under the bed. I wanna know who sent those storms this way? They were supposed to miss us and head straight for New England.

Pippin is on it’s 3rd go round, alternating with the sound track from “Once More With Feeling” - I will sleep happily tonight with musicals in my head

Aha! I’ve been meaning to post this picture for weeks, but I’m usually on the Dope at work and I keep forgetting when I’m at home. SurrenderDorothy, every time I see your name, it reminds me of this picture I took years ago of a sidewalk in Portland.

fcm, I, too, am jealous. I took a class on throwing pottery one summer, and it was loads of fun. Enjoy yourself!

What’s with all the computer problems lately? The Computer Gods must be angry.

Bobbio, that truly sucks, but something good has to come of it, right?

Hey rigs, it rained by you? it was purty and purfect here…

LiLi, a friend was telling me about those shoes just Friday. Inspired by you I went out this afternoon and found a pair of the Beach(es) in black. I can’t take them off, they’re like little foot massages… :stuck_out_tongue:

Time to see if the brownies that the Kid made are cooled off enough to dig into…

Indeed. A http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/06/01/state/n005324D28.DTL&sn=001&sc=1000 knows that all too well now, after not doing anything for her dog in over two years and it was so matted and crusted in filth that the dog could barely move. She’s now facing criminal charges and has pleaded no contest.

Does this make them the official shoes of the MMP? So we all have to go out and buy them? ::makes note::

gotti, that’s awful. Have to wonder about people sometimes. Poor doggie.

Still wet out. Hope it’s planning to clear up over the weekend. I have more gardening to do!

[QUOTE]

Not really. What would have sucked is the idea of buying a $150K property, and having to dump another $100K just to make it liveable. The $150K is at the far end of what I can afford.

Going Saturday to see another place that is priced to give me a little wiggle room…

Happy Friday, everyone!

I get to here the results of my blood test today - to find out if all this awful HCV treatment is working, and whether or not we will continue. Cross your fingers that the results are good!

Last weekend our canopy that we erected over the patio blew down. So this weekend we are going shopping for a patio set, and Tom is planning to build a permanent corrugated plastic cover soon. (My Dad needs a covered place to sit and smoke outside.)

Yeah, I pretty much did that, too. I ignored much of 15, too, as it wasn’t much better.

I have a pair of Rocket Dogs. These, in fact (only green). They do not, alas, actually have rockets on them.

So, the doctor has suggested we not go for surgery at this time, since I’m currently not experiencing pain. He told me it may have been a kidneystone, but I’m being put back on the pill (which first doctor took me off because of my blood pressure) and given a prescription for muscle relaxers, and we’ll see how it goes this month. If I wasn’t at least kinda sure I want kids someday, at this point I’d just tell 'em to cut me open and pull the whole mess out.

Hey! You all know what tomorrow is, doncha? It’s the day Billy Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahasee Bridge!

Yay!!! It’s Friday! Okay, so it was a short week but I’m still glad it’s the weekend.

bobbio, that’s a shame about the house. I can’t imagine what would be downhill from dry rot in the joists.

Just curious, rue. What brought on the dog brushing comment? Or was there a warp in the space time continuey thingy causing you to post a comment to gotti’s link and it somehow showing up before his?

drae, that is good news. Trust me, you really don’t want to go that route as young as you are.

I have GOT to get my hair cut this weekend…speaking of dogs needing brushing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug (Who’s beginning to look suspiciously like a cocker spaniel)

Specifically, the Rule is because we had a big, stupid Chow Chow (redundant, I know) in for some minor surgery who just doesn’t know what a slicker brush looks like, Puggy. The matting was pretty bad, the dog was covered in felt. Bullet-proof felt, it was that thick in places.

There was another dog in for grooming a while ago that had such bad matting, part of its ear just sorta… sloughed off when the groomer was brushing it. Yucky.

Time after time we get dogs (and not a few cats) coming in to the hospital that just need brushing. It irks me.

And it’s OK as long as you just look like a Cocker, Puggy. You start getting exciterd and jumping up on people and then tinkling on them, well, then maybe you’d need some Professional Help.
