I forgot-yesterday I bought a pair of these on the advice of a co-worker. They didn’t have black or fuschia, so I got bright red. They’re really comfy. I almost never buy shoes because of having mutant wide feet, but these are cushy, wide, and pretty cool. They’re disturbingly trendy around here right now. I will just have to keep wearing them until long after they’ve ceased being cool.
Mario Batali Clogs!
As long as we’re sharing shoe woes, I have once again been tricked by a pair of shoes that were perfectly comfortable in the store. They’re wicked cute, though. Can’t find a picture of them anywhere, naturally, but I shouldn’t have really expected four-inch platform wedges to be comfortable all day.
But really–they’re so cute.
The ads are for nursing glogs. Are those for professional nurses, or are breastfeeding women supposed to wear them? Weird.
“Clogs”! Glog is a drink. Or something. Anyway, I feel a bit like I’m wearing clown shoes, but they’re really comfy. I may try to get a pair in black as well, in a few weeks.
Grog is the drink. Glog is the sound you make when you swallow too much pool water
In three of the four classes I’ve taken, that movie was mentioned on the first day. The current class is full of old-timers, so no one had to bring it up. I need to add a handle to the big mug I threw yesterday. Nothing else gets handles. Then I’ll take them with me on Saturday so they can be fired and glazed, since my kiln won’t be ready for a bit and I don’t have any glaze yet.
I’m home, snuffling like crazy. I didn’t want to go to work today, but since I’d called a meeting for 10, I kinda had to. By lunch, I was feeling like three day old death rewarmed, so I decided to leave. I think I got about 5 broken hours of sleep last night, punctuated with coughing and sniffling. My poor nose is so raw… whine whine whine
I was going to take the trash and recycling today, but I don’t know if I’m up to it. I may load the van, then wait till FCD comes home, and we can go together. Ain’t that romantical - doing garbage together…
What I should do is nap. Or maybe stand in a hot shower and try to drain my head. Either way.
<sigh>
fcm, I’m jealous too. That pottery just looks so…fun. Maybe someday…
I came home last night to find a new patio set on my back patio. My sweetie got a good deal on it too! I’d been kind of looking over patio sets, but was just cringing at the prices. The table isn’t as big as I’d like, but it’s enough for the four of us, and if need be we can set up the plastic table and chairs if we have a big BBQ in the backyard. Hubby got the glass top table, four chairs and the umbrella for $89.00. You certainly can’t beat that price!
gt, those were very purty flahrs and pots. I really need to get going on purchasing some perennials as well as annuals. Plus, I have a big clay planter on my front porch that I need to put some pretty stuff in. Right now, there are dead stalks from last year’s plants in it.
As much as I hate to, I need to get back to some STOOPIT charts and tables.

I wanna whine, too. I volunteered to take care of lunch for our departmental meeting today and ordered some sammich rings from Publix. Now, the weather reports have been predicting a 30% chance or rain for the rest of the week but of course it was sunny as usual up until I started back with the goodies. I got SOAKED even though I had my trusty bumbershoot. Ever try juggling two covered trays, a purse, a bag of chips and a brella? Okay, we need the rain but did it all hafta fall on me?
In my size, those clogs look like they could easily house a family of four on a three-week cruise. I passed.
I’m bored. le sigh I’m leaving in just under two hours to go see the doctor, and I have nothing to do right now. Alas, I cannot actually see the roof from my desk (since I’m under it), and therefore can’t even distract myself by ogling the shirtless, sweaty roofers. But one of my coworkers just bought me a box of Life cereal–the limited Superman edition.
I’m so easily amused.
OK. I’ll probably have to post it Sunday night though. I can’t spend as much time surfing during my new job as I could with my old job. They actually expect me to do work here! And my computer can be easily seen by anyone who walks by instead of facing the window the way it did in my old cubicle configuration. So I have to be a little more careful about my internet usage! The company handbook says limited personal internet use is OK, but I’m not sure if the MMP would be considered a good use of my time.
I didn’t get to read the beginning of this week, nor did I catch the last two weeks. I’ve got a pretty good idea of what everyone’s up to (Welcome back Ashes! We missed you.) but where’s swampy?
one minute past midnight is technically Monday . . .
I’m here, really. Just wasn’t in the office much today.
Hi!
::sulking back off to the hardware store then home to wait for the friend to come help me fix thr Kid’s car…::
What’s with all this whining? All the time whining about this or that, or some other thing. Why always with the whining?
I am not here to whine, I am here to tell you that my lunch went very well. Seeing my teacher again was fantastic. She’s busy beyond belief, as always, and involved with getting a lot of things published. It was great seeing her again.
Looking forward to taxi’s MMP.
And now I have to go get my brother from his tennis practice. This involves me not only getting up from the couch, but leaving the house. All this effort, and for what? Some 12 year old kid that happens to also be my mother’s son. [sub]I keed, I keed.[/sub]
Hey you guys! I’m back-had some trouble logging on–kept saying that the site was not recognized. whatever.
Work was good today–easy, and kinda fun and only 6 hours long. Now, that’s what I call work!
Guess what? Go on, guess!
It’s raining here, again. Methinks Mother Nature thinks this is Seattle. One thing–it’s only 73 degrees out–thank the lord of all weather fronts.
#1 son is off to 8th grade graduation dance in a bit. Two girls keep calling him–Linnea and Emily. 14 y/o girls are silly. (I hated being 14 and ignored it until it went away). I hope it doesn’t rain all noc for the dance.
Nothing to add here that matters–which is why I love this thread.
Well, it’s pouring here and has been since this morning. The highways are a mess.
I just called home to check on the kids/remind them about their chores and found out hubby isn’t home yet. He arrived at work at 4:30 this morning. So, of course, I’m thinking terrible things like “I hope he wasn’t in an accident”. I read about two accidents with semis on WSDOT today, so…well, it’s just silly or weird how my mind works sometimes. I’m just a big worrywort sometimes. I’m sure he’s just delayed to due to shitty traffic or crappy loads or both.
**rigs, ** I had to laugh when I read your post about the girls phoning your son. One of the google ads was “Stop/ID Harrassing phone calls”.
One of my office mates bought my lunch today. She came in late to work, so decided to stop and pick up lunch. I tried and tried to give her money, but she refused to take it. It was very nice of her to buy our lunch. I’ll have to return the favor sometime.
taxi, Swampy left for Flawduh for some work stuff. I guess he’s going to meet up with a Doper or two on Saturday. So, that’s where our illustrious, fab Swampy is.
I have nothing exciting to add either. I wanna go home…45 more minutes and then I get to sit and fume in traffic.
He’s in Sarasota and/or Tampa.
I came home last night to find my neighbor doing a fine impersonation of the Little Dutch Boy, trying to hold back a torrent of water gushing out of a lawn sprinkler that he’d managed to decapitate. Something to do with how it got clogged or whatever and wasn’t spraying. He apparently had the misfortune to be working on it as the automated timer engaged. Rather than turn it off at the timer, or even shut off the main valve, he thought he could just sit there for fifteen minutes and ride out the flood. I went over, found the main cutoff for the sprinklers, closed it, and he was happy. Completely drenched, but happy.
Same guy also made quicksand out of his patio a couple days earlier - a hole mysteriously appeared in an underground sprinkler pipe. Fortunately for him, I’m pretty well versed in assembling and repairing PVC pipe.
The pipe looked like it had been shot as one side had a small hole and the other side had a big hole. The fix was simple enough for someone that knows what Purple Primer is, but a bit befuddling to him.
Perhaps he needs to avoid sprinklers entirely!
Yeah, the hamsters had some sort of simultaneous fart. I got some sort of “trouble with the database” error page, then the board came back, asking me to log in.
