It's the old fart's MMP!!

If I missed it and Poundstone were there, I’d be very angry.

She was on the previous week’s show so I knew I was safe in that regard. Ms. Amy was who I’d be ticked about not seeing as I am known to be quite a fan.

Bobcat Goldthwaite was there. He’s funny, but he’s no Paula or Ms. Amy or even Tom Bodett.

Went to 2 improv shows last night. Went home on the metro (subway) last night. It was very crowded with music-festival-goers. It was so crowded that I was inappropriately touching 2 people at once. :frowning: (completely by accident, of course.)

Last day of vacation today. Let’s see if I can actually get stuff done today.

We just took our trash and recycling to the convenience center. I think that’s quite enough chores for the day.

If they tell everyone in the courtroom that I have to go, why do they call it Alcoholics Anonymous?

Thought of you when I heard Wait,Wait yesterday, Spaz. Only heard snatches of it in the car between stops, but it sounded amusing.

Glad the show went so well yesterday, Sticky.

Hope the number of crabbers goes up soon.

Had a busy, work-avoiding day yesterday.

Went to two farmer’s markets and found some nice things, including some an ornamental pepper plant that you can cook with and some items that I’ll buy next time.

Was sick to death of existing wardrobe, so I did a major thrifting tour, spent less that $100 for about $500 worth of clothes. Got some very nice items, including a couple of designer items that still had original tags on them. Finally found a couple of blazers that I actually like (both Talbot’s, oddly; don’t normally like stuff from there).

Also inaugurated my brand new Target debit card. (You get 5% off if you use it; don’t really care for the customer tracking aspect of it, but 5% of what I spend at Target is huge.)

Need to weed out some stuff from the closet to make room for the new.

Now…off to make tea and get some work done before venturing out into the garden.

Hugs all.

GT

So…

Did you ever do something nice to surprise someone and then after you did it - before they found out about it - you have second thoughts and wonder if they’re going to think you’re really, really strange? Yeah, waiting right now to find out of I’m all kinds of awesome or some real weirdo. I hope my first instinct was correct.

Maybe you’re an awesome weirdo??

Taking a clay break. I tried to make 8 different things. I ended up with 3. Not a good day, so I’m going to watch some videos of other people claying, hoping I can figure out what the heck I’m doing wrong…

You can do no wrong, FairyChat!
Now, about Mama’s operation…

I wish I had some clay. I ordered some online, so hopefully it’ll come in the mail sometime soon. I had an idea for a clay project, and I can’t wait to try it out.

The Stately Manor has been scrubbed. Next up is chili making followed by yarn time.

My legs were sore today from the running I did yesterday. I did my 5km in under 25 minutes, yay for that, and then I kept going and ended up doing just over 5 miles in 45 minutes, which I think is pretty good since it’s the first running I’ve done in a while. They are mostly feeling better now. Yes I did do some good stretching after the run yesterday, but maybe not enough?

Anyhow, got some work to do today. Hurray!

Happy Sunday!

It’s a beautiful breezy day.
It’s 67 degrees in Baltimore with a projected high of 83.
I’m not in Baltimore but my phone thinks it is.

What a day yesterday.
I got only 4 hours sleep.
Piddle pup piddled (and more) quite a bit overnight leaving me a huge mess to clean up.
Sah-son let me know as I was rushing out the door that he didn’t have anything to eat or drink.
So I had to clean up and sit with piddle pup until 11, get gas, grab some stuff at the store, go pick up my friend in Baltimore and be in Hagerstown by 1 for the home inspection.
Not gonna happen.
I couldn’t get a hold of the inspector to confirm the appointment and let him know I was running late. It poured rain the whole drive.
I couldn’t get the lock box to open.
Between lack of sleep and running late I was so stressed and just couldn’t calm down.

But it all came out well because the inspector thought the appointment was for 2 pm.

My friend took one look at the house and said the outside looks inviting. Then she got inside and fell in love with it. She claimed the attic as hers.
While the inspection was going on she went for a walk around the neighborhood and said everybody waves and says ‘hi’ and the few she stopped to talk to said it’s a nice quiet street.

The inspector and his assistant who does rehabbing were very impressed with the house. He kept saying ‘somebody put a lot of money into this house’. His assistant kept walking around and nodding at things and saying yep, this was done right, and this looks good. They both said I’m getting a hell of a deal and it’s one of the best homes they’ve seen in the area.

Between the lack of sleep and the long drive the only thing keeping me awake was the discomfort of sitting on the stairs. I wanted so badly to go lay on the carpet in the bedroom and sleep.
I must have been the most unenthusiastic home buyer he ever met.

After the inspection my friend and I went to lunch, and we got one lunch free because we are over 55 and it was buy one get one free day for seniors. We got back to her house and I totally just zonked out and slept for 5 hours. I felt so rude!

Today is just irk irk irk to make up for nor irking yesterday. I feel like a zombie still.

I have to go back over the inspection report and decide when I am going to push for the seller to fix.

The railing down the basement stairs need to be extended. It doesn’t start until the wall ends, about 4 steps down.
The railing down the deck stairs needs to be reinforced to bring it up to code.
The basement needs to be bombed to kill the mold (not black mold) and a dehumidifier. Eventually it will need a rubber mat over the part the is still a dirt floor.
The downspout in the front needs to be extended to dump the water further from the house.
The porch roof needs a repair to stop the water from puddling in one spot.
The gas line to the furnace needs a support.

Not too bad for 106 year old house.
The roof is @ 10 years old and in good shape. The foundation is in good shape. There’s no lead paint issues because there is no peeling paint. The wiring is new, the plumbing is new, all the appliances, the HW heater and furnace are new.

So I guess this is it. The appraisal was Friday and while I haven’t heard anything yet I’m sure it will be okay.

FCM I know where you are talking about. If I was down that way I’d be more likely to go to Ann’s Dairy Queen. I think that place is older than I am, and the last time I was there people were still lining up outside the door.

You know, I have never been inside Marley Station.
Never been to Arundel Mills either. I remember when it opened though, people were actually parking on the shoulder of Rt 100 and walking up the highway to the mall. Craziness.

My FIL and MIL (v.1.0) were potters. FIL said that the cost of having a truck deliver clay was more than the cost of the clay.

Yays and crossed fingers for the house Sari!

Didn’t meet up with person to discuss house plans today- I didn’t think going to a cafe was a good plan, though the last few food attempts have stayed put. She didn’t reply to the text saying I couldn’t make it, and could we reschedule though. Oh well.

At least I didn’t have much planned for today, and it’s all wet 'n windy, so I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on much. I don’t normally get sick, so at least it’s kind of novel- though it’s a shame I’m vegetarian so I can’t sip some weak beef broth or chicken soup like what they do in books.

That’s why I plan my clay purchases to coincide with a visit to my mom. Clayworks in Baltimore is less than 20 miles from my mom’s, so I get my clay and supplies, go visit and get a free lunch, then go home. Multi-tasking!!!

**sari **- if I was in your position, I’d ask for all the repairs except the downspout and the porch roof. The other 4 sound like safety issues. Extending the downspout is pretty much DIY, and the porch roof needs to be done, but it’s not critical. And since I KNOW you want to do everything the way I’d do it… But yay on a good inspection! It does sound like the appraisal will be just fine. I’m excited for you!

Back to my studio now - I’ve watched enough videos…

Soooooo tired. And hungry. I am not sure if I should sleep or eat

That pretty much sums it up. My good deed was greatly appreciated and I was even treated to breakfast at Bob Evans because of it.

Yeah, it probably is, but it’s not easy for me to get the clay locally. Maybe next time I’ll get it locally though.

I’m figuring the insurance company is going to want those fixed as well because of the safety issues.
At least the railings anyway.

I’m still feeling kind of like a zombie so I am waiting until tomorrow and then I will talk to the agent and the mortgage person and see what they say.
