It's Time For A New MMP

Yeah, he didn’t have the smoothest relationship with the union, apparently, and had some other issues. He’s mid-90s now and still very sharp.

Just a suggestion, but sprinkle a little good olive oil on your asparagus, then sprinkle with salt and Montreal steak seasoning, and roast in the oven til tender. Turn halfway through.
I never cared for asparagus myself until Wifey started doing it this way and I love it.

I quit smoking 35 years ago and I know it does take a long time to get over it, but it will happen. Trust me.
32 years from now you won’t even think about and when you do, you’ll wonder why you ever did it.
(It really won’t take that long. I’m just messing with you. :grinning:)

Howdy Y’all! OYKW procured provisions and I erranded. Needless to say we were worn out and needed nappage after all that exertion. Sup was nummy and I made just enough for the two of us to eat today, so no leftovers. Well, leftover cornbread muffins, but those will disappear tomorrow mornin’. They will be good split open, buttered and toasted in the oven. YUM!

Oopsie glad Bailey can get her stab so you can go to Joisey.

FlyBoy here’s hopin’ the pt helps your fingers get all better.

Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Evening all. Had a day of Major-League sloth that even swampy would approve of. Been out of the house for all of 2 minutes all day (1 minute to retrieve my newspaper this morning, and another to get the mail this evening). Rest of the day has been internettin’, TV watching and solving the various puzzles/crosswords in the paper. Never did make it to the gym, so I’ll have to work harder tomorrow to make it up, I guess. But a day of sloth now and then won;t hurt…I think…

Oopsie, glad things were able to be worked out with Bailey. I remember about 30 years ago, my brother had just moved to the St. Louis area (where I already was) just a week after his first-born appeared, and he called and said ‘I am leaving now (his wife and child were still in Columbus), my baby has a hole in her heart’. So I had to arrange for their Basset to get some shots and be boarded (did I mention this was a few days before Thanksgiving), and managed to get it done. Phred the Basset didn’t hold it again me for the next 9 years and my niece is nearly 30 and doing just fine. But it was quite a day…

wet one, add my congrats to your 3-year anniversary. Never smoked once in my life but my mother was never able to break the habit and it did take time off her life, I’m sure of it. Stay strong.

lucky, sounds delicious. Ate Duck once or twice in China, tasted something like turkey-at least to me.

Flyboy, hope the PT helps with the fingers. Does it handicap your cooking at all?

nellie, yeah, I never counted the days here, but the school district I’m in is one of the better (and more well-off) districts so they probably follow the rules.

Cookie, sounds like an interesting group of folks.

OK, need to fix a BLT (or two) for my second meal of the day and then get back to slothing. All y’all take care.

nellie, the kids in my scho0l district are out for fall break this week too. I know in my locale, they’ve reduced summer break to 1.5-2 months instead of the three we had when I was a kid. By this time, they’ve been in school since the end of July or the beginning of August.

shoe, I did a few projects with metallic thread when I did more embroidery, needlepoint and cross stitch. I’m with the Satan’s pubic hair camp.

wet one, congrats on the three years. It’s been ~10 for me (this time), but sometimes, I still have the urge.

I flashed today, came home, talked to Sis, et and packed stuff to leave out tomorrow. She should be here any time now with Nelson’s father and his mother’s littermate. We’ll have a houseful of spoiled puppers tonight.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yeah, I can’t decide if Kreinik blending filament or Neon Rays are more “fun”. They sure do add a lot to a piece though, Satan’s pubic hair is great!

That was every day at the food stamp office. The ones who weren’t able to clear the paper jams in the copy machines were the worse.

So you are saying there isn’t much hope that GG is going through a stage? He is entertaining

This is always a good thing.

It will go away. I quit smoking tobacco September 2019. I can’t remember the last time I wanted to smoke, I just don’t feel it anymore. Of course, I was tired of smoking and I wanted to quit which made it much easier when I ran out of cigarettes and didn’t buy more.

Today was surplus produce and the bounty of the summer is over. Root crops are all well and good, we can always use potatoes and onions but I was really enjoying the melons and stone fruit.

I got to the pick up late and was 6 cars from the end of the line. I hate it when I do that, when the volunteers can see the end of the line, they start trying to give away everything they can. They want us to stay in our cars, so I can’t see what they are doing in my trunk. The ladies at my ex-office had to make two trips with their cart to get all of my leftovers.

We got a five lb. bag of shelled hazelnuts which are tasty but way to much for us so I looked it up and learned that they are very good for wild birds. I put some out in the tray feeder and checked an hour later. All of the hazelnuts were gone, so it looks like the birds got a nice treat.

The folks at the community center are requesting gently used Halloween costumes to hand out to the local children. Another group is doing a winter clothing drive so I went to the big thrift store hoping to get some children’s jackets but didn’t find any. I did find a Superman costume that looked brand new so I bought that instead. It has a molded foam rubber chest with super muscles! We never had neat stuff like that when I was a kid.

Up from naptime. I’m having chicken and egg noodles with cheese sauce and peas for dinner, and trying a Metropole cocktail

[Susan Ivanova]You’re about to boldy go where every man has gone before…[/Susan Ivanova]

Yay! I quit 25 years ago.

Odd state/smiely combo. But glad you got things going.

[Old Man Rant]We had the vinyl costume that overheated you, and the plastic masks that only provided 40% of the needed oxygen. And we liked it that way![/Old Man Rant]

Ooh, fancy. We had to walk uphill in the snow wearing white sheets with eyeholes if we wanted to trick or treat.

We had a big storm with strong winds and sideways rain a few days ago. Someone on Nextdoor posted how sad she was to see the bus let the kids off in the storm and that if they were her kids she would have been there to pick them up.

My reply was "Back when I was a kid, we walked 10 miles barefoot through the snow to get to school and it was uphill BOTH ways. Now get off my lawn!

The memes flew fast and furious after that

I remember those. Huge condensation problems and very hard to wear with glasses.

Happy Hump Day!

Not a bad day temperature wise, in the mid 50s this morning.
We got a little rain at the park.

I went early since Lucy’s dad had to leave early and Lily was going. For a while it was just the three of us, like the old times. It was nice.
I like it when it’s a big group too, but we three are the core and it’s a different kind of enjoyment.
I left early though, and felt kind of bad because Coco and Lui went to the small side as I was leaving, which left Rocky alone with Barky and Humpy. I know Barky/Humpy mom knows people are leaving because of her. Nothing I can do or say, she has pissed too many people off with her attitude. I don’t take up for her anymore, I just don’t join the badmouthing.

My poor son, he got off irk at 330 this morning. He had to call me 23 times before my phone woke me up at 410.
I slept through several alarms yesterday morning.
I think I am tired.
Poor Adam asked to go down to the basement yesterday evening. I heard him scratching at the door to come up. I thought I’ll finish what I’m doing in two minutes, I’ll let him up on the way to bed. I had it in my head that I had to walk through the kitchen on the way to bed, but I forgot why and didn’t open the basement door. Poor Adam had to spend all night down there.

My aunt is in the hospital, I think it is not good. She is 90, which is very old for my father’s side of the family. She has so many health issues. We are kind of close, and she shares a birthday with my son.
I was thinking about her all day today and thought I should call her, but we just talked two days ago and I don’t like to bother her too often.
My poor cousin just lost her brother last April, my uncle has been dead for years, and when my aunt goes there is nobody left for her. I told her she has all of us cousins, but she says it’s not the same.

My evil sister is all over in the group text saying she is praying for her. It makes me sick, I had to send a private text because just seeing that bullshit pisses me off. This cousin is so nice, but she never married. I never asked her about it because it’s not my concern who marries or who doesn’t.
Anyway, the part that pisses me off is that one day ES and EBIL were laughing and making fun of nice cousin because she never got married. They think people who don’t get married have something wrong with them that nobody would want them. And while they were laughing, ES said it’s no surprise she never married, who would want to wake up and look at that face every morning.
You’d think they were 14, but no, they were in their 50s.
Two miserable people who deserve each other.

I had to back out of the group text for a while though, I can’t stand seeing her fake sympathy and concern.

No jab for Bordetella, it’s a spray up the nose. I got a letter a little while back saying that it is now required only once a year instead of twice. I get theirs done at daycare; Ripple will tolerate that since it’s pretty quick and a tech can do it.

I have to call the gutter people back. They left a message that there was a problem. Of course, there is a problem, why wouldn’t there be a problem?
I couldn’t deal with it today. I’m too fucking burnt out.

Oh, and to answer your question MetalMouse, my son did legit forget his glasses. He’s in a good headspace now for getting his learner’s permit.

Never smoked (cigarettes), never wanted to. I have always hated the smell. Tobacco was my worst allergy when tested, I got huge welts from it. It was a deal breaker for me when dating. I got tired of watery eyes, and a runny nose, and feeling sick to my stomach.

I’m glad you can go to NJ, Ooopsie

Sorry for the bathroom woes Sunny
Insurance shit is weird.

I can remember walking to the bus stop in junior high, in our miniskirts and heels, over the ice and snow. Nobody cared if we fell on the ice, and we weren’t allowed to wear pants to school yet. That didn’t start until 10th high school.
We weren’t supposed to wear jeans, but everybody did. No crop tops or muscle shirts though.

I wanted to be in bed by 8, it’s almost 10.
I may skip the park tomorrow and go back to bed after I get my son in the morning.

Had a good workout at the gym, and because I did Instacart, went to the PO instead so I could mail my great-nephew’s birthday gift, a drone that has lithium batteries. Holy moly, you’d have thought I was mailing yellowcake or anthrax or something. I wanted Da Jungle to mail it directly to him, but it wouldn’t cooperate. Anyway, it’s going by slow boat, but it’s off.

Sari, you must be the sweetest, most patient person on the planet. I’m amaze and so admire you for this, yet at the same time I worry because it takes such a toll on you, as it would anyone.

doggio, my daughter and I always got such a kick out of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. When the district threw a (lame) retirement party for me and a few others, she asked how it went. I said in my Charlie Brown voice, “I got a clock.”

Oops, tub is full. Off to bathe away my aches.

Last year I organized the Secret Santa and printed out a spread sheet of names and addresses to use as a checklist. I deleted the excel file, but found the checked off printout a couple of minutes ago.

I am going to gather up some of my metallic threads and ribbons and send them to shoe. It is very possible that we won’t hear from her for a while after she gets them, new toys and all

She deserves the chance to run her fingers through Satan’s Pubic Hair as well!!

Buddy very much likes cooked chicken breast. I’d brewed up a chicken in the Instant Pot not very long ago, and was eating some of the breast meat just on its own (yes, I know that’s an odd snack. I like it). I had a hard time keeping him out of my dish, and he’s usually much more polite than that. When he backed off and just cutely purred at me, he did get a couple of bites.

just cause some of ya have been there :

Pikers. I had sex on the Arizona Memorial AND the USS Bowfin the same day and didn’t get caught. (For the record, World War II submarines were not designed with comfort in mind and were mostly metal. I had interesting bruises the next day.)

What? I’ve already mentioned the floozy years in my life, it was a very fun time. I had sex on the black beach which was the ONLY time I had sex on the beach. I had sex in plane restroom. I had sex in the back seat of a VW bug and on the back of a running Harley. If God didn’t want us to enjoy sex, she wouldn’t have made it so much fun.

If one clutches their pearl hard enough to break the string, it is best to bend over and look across the floor for the errant oyster puke. Pearls and beads like to hide in plain sight.

@purplehorseshoe because I know you tend to skim when you have time. The stuff on the cards can be ironed flat with the poly setting on your iron, or you can dampen it with bottled water to straighten it. It will fray as you stitch, I use a drop of clear nail polish on the ends. The small cards of blending filament fray as you so much as look at it, treat it the same.

Many folks try to use floss and blending filament at the same time which just doesn’t work for me, so I do my first stitches with floss and then overstitch with the blending filament.

I’m sending some spooled metallic threads, GG loves the empty spools, hopefully Monkey will as well. You’ve never said if you have gotten your hands on overdyed thread before, so I threw half a skein of Watercolors in the envelope as well. It is a joy to work with, it feels wonderful to the touch, it doesn’t snarl or snag. I don’t really like variegated colors because I want things tightly regimented but I think you will love them.

Here’s a pic so everyone can see what I was talking about, the floss on the spools and small cards is thinner than one strand of sewing thread:

Imgur

(I really like the Fyre Werks, it has a really nice shimmer.)

Isn’t it fun when one of our furry overlords finally tells us what they really want?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Boo: “LOAD TUBE ONE AND FIRE!”
Dude: “AYE, CAPTAIN!”

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall be slothful homebodies today as is our wont. No need or desire to go out amongst the great unwashed. Sup shall be chikin nachos due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’ on my part and since I am the one makin’ sup it is my gnawin’ and cravin’ that matters.

MetalMouse sounds like you achieved sloth Nirvana!

JtC more power to ya! I had a somewhat misspent youth which included ummm intimacy in all kinds of what might be called unusual places. I was somewhat of a floozy myself.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 52 degrees and cloudy, with an expected high of 74 and cloudy skies. I guess it’s cloudy, I didn’t really look because it’s still dark here.

Yesterday was an in-office day, so I drove down at my usual time and spent the day there. The day was busy, but I managed to leave by 3:15 (I arrived there before 5:30), and get home around 4:20.
I had lunch with one of my peers. I usually skip lunch when I’m down there unless I’m meeting my son. But, yesterday I decided I didn’t want to do that, so I made plans to have lunch with T. She’s a nice person and I admire both her poise and positivity. We really enjoy talking with each other and have had many pleasant hours talking while on the road for various things.

I’m not sure how well I did on the interview. I know they liked some of my answers, but the competition is very strong. I won’t know anything until next week.

I am sending hugs to those who need or want them. I tried keeping up yesterday while at work this morning and skimmed what I missed yesterday afternoon, but at work, I was also multi-tasking, so I’m afraid I didn’t do a very good job of retaining everything.

Today is my Friday and thank goodness for that. By Tuesday I felt like it should have been Thursday. I also have a four-day weekend. We’re having the make-up birthday party for my grandson on Saturday, but I hope to catch up on some sleep too. I’ve probably had a total of 15 hours of sleep in the last 5 five days, and I’m feeling it. I was downstairs at 3:30 this morning, no thanks to the husband.

Anyway, I’m on my second cup of coffee and I will press onward with the day. I hope you all have a fantastic day.
