I also owe you a drink or two, because the post office took out the shot bottles of Knob Creek Whiskey, Tito Vodka and Desaronno Amaretto I had packed in there.
Sorry about that.
I dropped my package off at the post office and it’s headed to the City of Destiny as I type. It’s a bit on the big side but some of the stuff in it is one-of-a-kind so I hope my overdoing it a bit results in a safe delivery.
I’m at work at the moment so will update the sent-received list tonight as my master list is on my desk at home. But progress is being made, goodies are being sent and received, and folks are having fun. Awesome!
I’m thinking of kicking off the next SGE mid-spring of 2022. Does that work for most players?
Thanks!
By the way, are you Episcopal clergy? If so, that makes my task much easier!

No, just a member of the BAC(Bishop’s Advisory Committee), but I am ULC clergy and have officiated at weddings.
Labdad - Your package should have arrived by now. They said it would have gotten there last week.
It has! I got back late last night from an eight-day vacation, and am remiss for not posting earlier today, but you know what it’s like getting home - your life is crowded with incident!
Whoa! What a treasure trove! First, the shot glasses: a Jim Beam boot, presumably because silenus and I had a colloquy some years back about the mash bills of various Jim Beam brands, and I disclosed that the late Booker Noe, master distiller at Beam, and I had been fishing buddies. Super cool! The second shot glass, is metal and embossed with the letters ‘TCCO” around what appear to be crossed pickaxes. Is there a story there?
Included were airplane bottles of Evan Williams, Jameson’s, and Southern Comfort. Despite the lateness of the hour, I blessed both glasses with Evan Williams and Jameson’s! The Southern Comfort I’ll save until I’m desperate for a drink, or I have a guest who asks for Southern Comfort!
And the trinkets! A couple of posable “‘Star Trek” figures (Spock and Scotty), Scotty with a wrench in hand. There was a little something in cellophane that confused me until I unwrapped it and examined it closely. It’s a communicator, which I placed in Spock’s hand and posed his hand close to his mouth. Spock and Scotty now sit on the bookcase in my office.
Then stuff from Marvel Comic Universe: a collapsible bowl with a cover that is Captain America’s shield, a Thanos glove keychain, and believe it or not, an X-Men necktie complete with Professor Xavier’s School tie clasp!
Writing implements: pens from a couple of Vegas hotels, and one from what I presume is the school where silenus teaches. I wrote with that pen this morning.
A telescoping back scratcher that looks like a rake. I have a lovely hand-carved back scratcher made by my late father in law, but while on vacation earlier I wished I had a back scratcher with me. The telescoping one has been placed in my suitcase where it will reside permanently.
A couple of bookmarks featuring buxom ladies, one in a bikini and one with an electric guitar.
And last but not least, a handwritten note reading, “Labdad, enjoy! Yer pal, silenus”. That actually choked me up a bit!
Thanks, silenus! It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be considered “yer pal!’
Dayum!! I am definitely going to have to up my game next year.
And Czarcasm’s package should be in the mail by Saturday!
Glad you got it and liked it. Since I know you pretty well (for a Doper), I had fun putting it together. The metal shot glass is the topper for an American whiskey called “Tin Cup.” A Colorado place sources MGP (64/32/4) then cuts it with spring water and finishes it with a percentage (4%?) of Stranahan’s Colorado whiskey, which explains why it isn’t called a bourbon. Interesting stuff. Not deep by any means, but as a daily sipper or camping whiskey more than adequate. In fact, I’m going to make a note to pick some up before the annual Thanksgiving camping trip.
Package sent to Czarcasm today. Nice lady at the post office said it should arrive by Wednesday.
And cool! There’s a little birthday cake by my name today. I don’t know if everyone can see it, but I turned 70 today! I’m probably the oldest participant in this exchange!
The cake is visible-Happy Birthday!
Whippersnapper, get off my lawn and snap your whipper somewhere else!
Mutter grumble 74 grumble mutter happy birthday grumber muttle …

I think that’s everyone accounted for.
This afternoon I returned from a spell of pugsitting to find a slightly damp (but miraculously still present) package from @Labdad . Its contents:
- Two very attractive “Oregon” shot glasses (one glass and one metal);
- One “Oregon”
coffeebeverage mug, contaning an assortment of smashed pennies from the Wildlife Safari; - A magnetic “Oregon” bottle opener in the shape of a salmon (which makes me regret that I haven’t seen a bottle requiring one in decades, but it does look good on the refrigerator);
And last but certainly not least:
- A painting — more accurately a (paw)print — courtesy of one of the lions at the aforementioned safari.
To say “thanks” seems grossly inadequate, but it will have to do for the nonce. And as Czarcasm said above, next time 'round I am definitely gonna have to up my game.
That wasn’t from me - my package went to Czarcasm.
Year before last, I got lots of cool stuff from Oregon, including a hand-made shot glass with my name on it. Double check who it’s from.
Ooooooopsie . Replace reference to @Labdad with @Lancia in the post above. The rest stands unchanged.
Yep! Lancia was the one who had a potter make a shot glass with “Labdad” printed on it. So cool!
I’m glad all arrived in good repair!
I went to the Wildlife Safari thinking thier gift shop would have some interesting and unique shot glasses. Unfortunately they were sold out, but I spied the lion painting and figured it would be unique enough.
