kanga sounds like your dad had an almost lucid moment. At least he didn’t try to leave. Hope you’ve gotten some sleep.

Taters glad y’all had a good time with your daughter. Speakin’ of smokin’ meat, I need to crank up ye olde smoker soon. It’s just time for some smoked protein.

Now I shall seek more caffiene and get myself purtified so’s I can get on the road. Think I shall stop for a bizkit on the way.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

phouka I’m with you on the foot pain thing. Since I broke my left heel going on 12 months ago I have had chronic foot / ankle pain. I still take pretty serious meds to this day. I have been trying to wean myself off said meds for awhile now but it seems like it’s impossible. I will take an incrementally smaller dose, then my foot gets to aching very badly and I end up taking as much as I normally do to get through the day. With my job not walking is not an option.

Today I have a day off and frankly I intend to spend it (mostly) with my foot up, maybe try some epson salts. Other than a few chores the only other thing I need to do is start reading a book a friend sent me, which I am looking forward to.

Anyway, try the hot water bath for your feet. It really works!

Up and going. Got coffee and breakfast and I am headed to get a pedicure in about 15 mins.

I am sore from my massage yesterday but I feel so much better. This afternoon I will repot my tomato plants then not much else.

Later!

sleeping in felt good, 'specially since I’d woken up a 2am and didn’t crawl back to bed until after 5am.

Happy Late Ems day!

roo. I feel for you. HUGS

Ready for deheathenization early today. Miracle of miracles grin

Home from the wilds of Bainbridge, Jawja. As y’all can see from the website it is the garden spot of the universe. Dang drive to and from was longer than the reason I had to be there.

I mentioned my friend and co-irker Judy and her mother yestiddy. Judy’s mother died this mornin’. Prayers and good thought for mom, Judy and the family would be appreciated.

But not “appreciated”. What? The mood needed to be lightened up a bit.

Have a good deheathenization Pearl. I shall deheathenate tomorrow, I reckon.

It’s sooooooo hyoooomid out. Definitely feels like some storms are comin’ in later this afternoon.

I think it’s nappy poo time.

Laterz!

Today was lumberjackin’ day and it was not a good one. **FCD **decided to try out a technique he saw on youtube rather than doing what he always has done successfully. Not only did it not work, it almost failed spectacularly. In the end, we had to use a rope and the truck, with the rope tied at the base of the trunk to yank it free from the canopy. There’s a big gouge in the dirt from where the trunk dragged, but it fell, we chopped it up, and all the pieces are loaded in the trailer. **FCD **is showering, and after I plant a few things, I’m going to clean up to.

We had breakfast at Bob Evans this morning, then ran by Lowe’s so I could get some 'mater plants (which are planted in big pots now) and I also picked up a cantaloupe plant and 3 lantanas which I’m about to put in at the base of our mailbox. I want all of these planted before the rain gets here so they can all get good drinks from Mama Nature.

I’m definitely looking forward to the major rains we’ve been promised. Plus it’s a good excuse to be a bum and stay indoors. so yay!

Back to work with me…

Yahd mowed, weeds sprayed, gahden hoed. I foresee a celebratory nap within the next 10-15 minutes.

Happy belated birthday to** mmmmms**!

It’s been super busy here today. I loaded up 360 lbs worth of old laser printers and computer towers and took them to the computer store and they gave me 5 cents per pound. Since I had my grandparents with me, we stopped for lunch at Wendy’s and spent every last cent. At least it’s something less living in the garage. We also took two bags of clothes to goodwill and one large delivery bag full of stuff plus a box full of old Avon cars to the flea market.

Soon, when my mom gets home we’re going to take my van over and drop it off because the SES light is on. I predict a nap in my future after all of that.

All planting is done - I’m very pleased with the little bed ringing my mailbox. I reused a bunch of rocks that were along the top of the hill - I’ve been wanting them gone, so they’ve been repurposed. I put down landscape cloth and lots of mulch, so that should stop weeds. Now all it needs is the rain we’ve been promised.

I also stuck the cantaloupe plant in the back garden - that’s my fruit patch, with strawberries, blackberries, and now a cantaloupe. We’ll see how it does.

I’m showered, and chilling, and starving. Sure would be nice if some kind soul showed up with food. I’m not holding my breath, tho…

**Sticky **- congrats on decluttering and sharing the wealth! It felt so good when we took 4 big bags of clothes to a local thrift store.

MOOOOOOM I was wonderin’ why your were goin’ to plant a canteloupe plant by the mailbox. I’m sure your mail carrier would have appreciated the offer of fresh, delicious fruit.

I, on the other hand, have had an afternoon of sluggery. Sweet sluggery! It’s all cloudy out but no rain yet.

Either too lucid or not lucid enough. Yes, it sucks that he can’t drive a car anymore, but there’s a reason for that, and it’s not the conspiracy to keep old men from driving that he thinks it is. It sucks that he’s so forgetful he’s lost two different wallets at least eight times - which is why he doesn’t get to carry any ID cards or ATM cards. However, it’s a long way from Hell.

He’s not lucid enough to recognize - or admit, because I think sometimes he is all too aware - that he has memory problems. He’s not self-aware enough to recognize that he has problems figuring things out or that the world hasn’t gotten more difficult, he’s become less able. So, it must be because we’re being mean to him, and we’re mean to him because we hate him.

It couldn’t possibly be that we love him and want him to be safe and are willing to do almost anything to make his life better. He can’t imagine that he could live a content and fulfilling life without being the boss of everybody and John Wayne on his horse. So, he believes he’s in hell.

I really believe that half the reason his dementia is so bad is because he cannot allow himself to change role - to go from being husband/father/wise patriarch to beloved and doted upon grandfather. And then I remember the lines that are repeated again and again in The 36 Hour Day - it’s not his fault, he’s doing the best he can.

These are “your tomatoes” as opposed to “Not Our Tomatoes”, right?

I planted the new lotus in a sunken tub, the Papyrus, Cypress and a water snowflake in the little preformed pool out back. Made some caves for the 50 gallon that The New and Improved Mrs. Plant’s loaches and angels will live in. After some liquid refreshment I shall move the stem bunch plants to the 20 gallon long upstairs.

**flytrap **- since we don’t have a poster named 'Maters, your logic doesn’t work. Now, if I intended to plant potatoes, it would be necessary to differentiate between **Taters **and my taters and everyone else’s N.O.T. but that would become confusing and ultimately just silly. And goodness knows, we don’t want to be silly, now do we?

Since no one showed up with a basket of prepared food, we decided to go to Bert’s for a burger. It wasn’t all that great, but it was quick and I don’t have to do any dishes, so that works for me. **FCD **just did a water change for the fishies, and I’m about to assume the knit position.

It’s starting to cloud over - we should have rain soon. Then the temps are supposed to plummet - I may actually have to close the house tonight so we don’t get too cold. Plus if it’s windy while it’s raining, we risk having wetness blown in. I did remember to put the cover back on the grill, so it won’t get all wet and I made sure the container with the charcoal was closed properly. So I’m ready for the storm!

In my haste I just accepted a sub job on a day that I had a lunch scheduled. I thought it was for Monday but after I hit the button I realized that it was for a different date. It’s for a Special Ed position, though, so I’m going to keep it and cancel the lunch. It’s hard to turn down a hands-on learning experience.

I potted out my tomato plants and watered the rest of my pots. I picked up around the house and folded laundry. I need to remake our bed with the clean sheets but right now I am sat catching up with DVR things. Mr ems is on his way home from work and life is pretty good today.

{phouka}

Just when I thought I had It All Figured Out.

Dagnabit.

I’m off to Yosemite on the 27th. I hope it’s cooler there.

MOOOOOOM if you said you were plantin’ taters that would be cause for concern.

‘Tis rainin’ out. This rain is from the gulf and should be a good steady one as most rains out of the gulf tend to be that way, so yay!

Steak, boiled N.O.T., spinach sallit and cheesey bread for dindin. YUM! Mrs. Edward’s is bringin’ dessert in the form of a turtle pie in a bit.
