I've Got Your Goat, A College Flashback MMP

I got called into HR this afternoon. It was freaky. And nerve-racking.

Backstory:

We’ve got two guys in my department who have tendencies to get very angry and loud, and a couple of times have almost come to blows, with each other and once with someone else.

They are very unprofessional when they act like this. (Duh!) It’s been going on a long time, and I know at least one of them has been written up more than once. Truthfully, one is worse than the other, and I can’t believe he still has a job.

Anyway, HR is calling us down one by one to interview us for their investigation. “How is the atmosphere in the department?” “What have you done when these incidents occured?” “Have you ever felt threatened?”

I answered truthfully, and it was stressful. It’s supposed to be completely confidential, but I hope nothing ever comes back to bite me in the ass.

On a lighter and much happier note:

Mr Rebo got a call from his former (short-lived) company. He was recommended to another department for a job he is totally qualified for!

His former boss has called him twice, getting a meeting set up for him. Hubby emailed his resume to him tonight.

YAY!!!

Nighty night.

I worked, I napped.

Actually, one of the very few reasons I might be willing to live in a house with a yard is the ability to be owned by a land turtle. So, very much NO.

The fishquirrel otoh looks like something you may get out of Disney in line-drawing version…

What has his poor Mommy done to you? You have any idea how rested she felt when she finally got rid of him?

I moved from being like clockwork (33 days and 6 hours except on the equinoxes, and even for those I’d already figured out how it worked) to never knowing when things are going to start. Pisses me right off that every gynecologist I’ve seen since dismisses it completely “well, some variation is normal. What else?” They say it in the same tone my grocer may use after weighing up three tomatoes, too.

Yay on new jobs!

why the hell am I awake at this hour?

Up to purtify for the last dau of SQHell.

Not as early, but I still woke up 2 hours before my alarm was scheduled to go off.

Well, I’m up. That’s something, I suppose.

The Black Box of Cabernet got me all the way to Friday - if I can make it through the first half of next week, life may get more tolerable again.

Amazing company I work for. They KNOW that I am supremely PO’d in my job right now. They KNOW that the department that I do most of the work for wants to totally change what the job entails with the coming of my replacement. They KNOW that I am having a really tough time curbing my attitude toward all of it…

Yet they insist that I MUST train my replacement. I’m thinking of writing a word by word script and absolutely refusing to deviate from it - it is the only way I can think of to keep from saying something… inappropriate.

FCM - does FCD have a back up plan for catastophic leaks? Leaking already sounds bad.

**Taters **and Nava, I went from “anytime from 1 week to three months, and NO warning” to clockwork - probably the only thing that perimenopause has been good for. There is still hope!

English peas seem just the same as regular peas.
It is STILL raining. I feel like I’m in Scotland. Or should be building an arc. This is day 2 of solid, all day/night rain with more on the way.
Off to work.

Now that it’s time to start working, I am ready for a nap. Or a bowl of Count Chocula, however, it seems to make me nauseous if I eat it in the morning. But it sounds sooooo good. Decisions, decisions…

Sitting in SQHell class, with a caffeine IV. Today is the last day, thank Og.

Big event of the weekend is a funeral tomorrow. Yee-frickin’-haw. Taking Death Chikkies, but I won’t tell them the name of the dish.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I suppose it’s to distinguish them from the other pea varieties.

You can send it to Central Flawduh. We are really, really dry.

HAPPY FIRDAY TO ALL!!!

I know things are not good when I wake up at 3:30 angsting about work problems. Sucks.

Firday at last! Although the temperature has dropped and it’s spitting rain outside, so it’s not a purdy Firday, but it’s still Firday. Also, quoth John Aston:

Although my chest sensitivity backslid a little bit yesterday, that New Cold Feeling disappeared and hasn’t come back, so I think it realized, after several rounds of NyQuil mortar fire, that I wasn’t going to brook such shenanigans, so it settled for just taking its sweet time leaving the rest of my body like it’s been doing. My ears are no longer plugged in the morning, and all that’s left is a bit of chest and nasal congestion, mostly when I come in from the chill, damp outside air, so it’s cool.

But I’m damn well gonna sleep like a log this weekend.

I need some more coffee! :stuck_out_tongue:

But in the mean time …

T.G.I.FIRDAY!!!

I guess no one has had cush/cornbread mush?! Ah well…it’s some good stuff, let me tell ya. I think this weekend I’m going to make a devil’sfood cake with buttercream (vanilla) frosting.

Sorry to hear about your founder’s passing, BBBBobbio.

I definitely need more caffeine today … hmmm…

Vrrrrrooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmm!

Happy Friday, mumpers! Busy, busy, busy here in studentland, barely been at my desk for more than two minutes at a time before I have to go off and sort out tutors, information, students, forms and all that good stuff.

I’m also thinking that English peas sound like regular peas. Swampy, do you have regular peas that are somehow different from English peas? If not, why add an extra adjective?

The HR interview sounds like a PITA, rebo. Here’s hoping it does remain truly confidential. And that they get rid of at least one of the aggressive people.

I think I may have found a cheaper alternative to the horribly expensive but sooooooo pretty Noro yarn. I’m trying two different colorways of Plymouth’s Boku in the striped scarf to see if it’ll turn out as pretty as the Noro. They’re $6/skein so still spendy for a scarf (4 skeins/scarf or $24) but no where near as bad as the Noro. It doesn’t feel quite as silky (5% silk and 95% wool where Noro uses some mohair in there too), but I’m going to reserve judgment until I see how it comes together.

I just snarfed down a cinnamon donut for brekkies. It was good.

(I now officially refer to Fridays as “Fried Dough Day”, since it’s the one day of the week that I allow myself to have a yummy fat-filled sugary treat for breakfast)

gt, that ice cream sounds YUM! Was it homemade or store bought? I must get my hands on that cherry goat cheese flavour.

rigs, I think they call them English peas to distinguish from black eyed peas and pigeon peas… I think the default “pea” in Southern food is black eyed, no?

Fetch, that totally blows. :frowning: Though on the bright side, at least you won’t be stuck in that job much longer, from the sounds of it… just keep counting down the days to freedom (that’s what got me through the last couple of weeks in my previous job). How much longer do you have to stick around?

Rebo, that’s great news for both of you! I hope HR can finally give those guys in your office the boot… I can’t imagine how awkward it would be to work with people like that.

Caffeine consumes, Booster Club minutes are done, off to work.

That sucks, Fetch. I like the script idea, though.

Rebo, I fear HR.

VBob, sorry about your founder’s passing.

I’m up and caffienating. I stayed up until 4:30 this morning watching TV. I went to bed, and then I woke up again at 6:00 to wake my son up since he slept through his alarms. I then fell asleep again and woke up at 9:30.

I need to get going soon though. I have errands to run and stuff to buy at the grocery store.

It’s rainy and ucky here.
