I've Got Your Goat, A College Flashback MMP

Boss Guy just took us out to a fancy-shmancy cafe for lunch. I had a roasted veggie sammich on olive sourdough, followed by a chewy coconut square and an Americano. Good stuff.

Still rainy and icky and cold outside.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be napping under my desk. ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Rainy with occasional snowy moments here too. I wanna go make soup. And bake bread. And read a book while curled up under a blanket with the cat sitting on my lap.

Why can’t I be rich so I don’t have to go to work and can have days like the above whenever I want?

Home early - yay for early Firdays!! We had a pot luck lunch meeting where the team lead did a year-in-review. He had a list of some major accomplishments for the year, and I’d been part of 5 of them, which gave me some warm fuzzies.

Gopher, I think the leak contingency plan is “Get some towels!!!” But the leaks have been fixed and all stayed dry overnight, so that’s something. I think when he gets home, he’ll be putting salt in the water, to get it set for the arrival of the live rock and live sand later next week.

Tomorrow, the subfloor, plumbing, and tub will go into the bathroom. Then I can do the tub surround and put up the sheetrock. And fix the wall blemishes. And remove the last of the contac paper…

I think I’ll assume the knit position for a few hours today. I just want to chill for a while. I think I earned it.

I was napping until…
BARK, BARK, BARK, WOOF, WOOF, WOOF, YIP, YIP YIP!

Now I’m awake and dreading going out to run some errands because it looks yucky outside.

Yuk. The wind and rain has picked up, making it feel even colder and more blustery. I just wanna go home and get this weekend started already.

Howdy Y’all! Four down and one to go 'til the weekstart. YAY!!!

They are English peas cause, well, they just are. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Last night at the Priest’s and the Missus’s, I walked outside with the Missus and OYKW to check out their patio and backyard. Both are really nice, btw. The patio and backyard, that is. For that matter the Missus and OYKW are nice too. Anywho, as we were out there lookin’ around, I was envisionin’ where they could put in a pool and have a deck leading out from their den where there are floor to ceiling double windows that could easily be converted into nice French doors. The Missus was likin’ the idea and when we went back inside she told the Priest all about how I’d planned all that out. He told me he was never invitin’ me to his house again because I could potentially cost him way too much money. It was a good evenin’.

It’s all cloudy out and will be rainy before long. I was gonna make dindin but instead have decided that Papa John’s will provide sustenance. OYKW is bringin’ it. Just so y’all don’t think I’m a total slouch, I did make a green sallit, so we have veggies which makes it all healthy.

I think I shall go quaff a beerverage upon the back porch and watch the rain begin.

I spent the morning paying some bills on-line and cruising the net. I then got a phone call from my daughter who somehow managed to get lost on her way to the credit union.

She wanted me to come down to where she was and lead her back. Instead, I opened up a mapping program, pinpointed where she was, and told her how to get back to the credit union. She wasn’t thrilled, but I thought it would be better if she had to kind of do it herself.

She managed to follow my directions, get to the credit union, and get home.

She is so directionally-challenged. As a passenger, she just never paid attention to landmarks, street names and numbers, etc. We’re so alike in so many ways, but this isn’t one of them. Even as a kid, I noted where I was, where I’d been and where I was going. I knew how to get all over the place. I’m trying to force her into doing that so she can figure out where she is and where she’s going on her own and more easily.

I should finish cleaning myself up and head out to do my errands.

Taters is it just me or is that a deja vu post re your directionally challenged daughter. Seems I recall your needin’ to do that before for her. Maybe y’all should buy her a homing pigeon. If she gets lost, she lets the bird go and follows it home.

Pizza is et. So is sallit. Ice cream shall be callin’ out to me shortly.

Oh and it’s rainin’.

A bunch of the religious organizations around here are hosting “getting to know each other better” kinds of thing. It sounds really interesting - there’s a service at a synagogue, a prayer service at a mosque, high mass on All Saint’s Day at one of the big Catholic churches, a meeting at a UU congregation, and some other stuff that I’ve forgotten about. So I was really psyched about checking out some of those things. Until I found out that the one at the synagogue is tonight. I’m really tired and it’s all rainy and I want to go home and curl up with a book. Or the tv and some knitting. But I also really want to learn about other religions too. So I’m really torn right now on what to do. Blah.

I heard from my cousin in Suffolk and at least two other cousins will lose their jobs with the mill closing in March. :frowning: It’s the major industry in Franklin, and there are a lot of other jobs that have depended on the mill. My Grandpappy worked there even, years and years ago.

Taxi, that sounds like an interesting religious get-to-know thing. LOL I’m not sure what to call something like that! It’s definitely an interesting concept. Hopefully you’ll be able to make it to some of the other ones.

I’m getting back to crocheting my afghan, trying to finish up the pastel one for my daughter before I start on another one. And I’m hoping to make a devil’s food cake with vanilla buttercream frosting some time this weekend.

Damned if I know… but if you ever figure out how to arrange this sort of lifestyle, please let me know how you did it. I’ll do the same. Win-win.

As Mindy said, it’s even windier and wetter outside than before. Really gross.

I’m going to go assume the migraine position. :frowning:

taxi I say you should go tonight. I mean, for it to be a truly religious experience there must be some suffering, right?

Sent kiddo off to her first dance. Sigh. Sixth grade. She’s so excited!

For me: it’s tubby time. No bubbles though.

that’s better than

merOWR! mow! MOW meerowr! meeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeerrrrrrr!

when 2 of the street cats go at it at 2 a.m. I’m tempted to yell out the window “Boys! Boys! I’m calling in a Federal Mediator!”

There is a leak in the ceiling of my library. When I left, it was filling up a LARGE garbage can (not very fast, but still!). It looks to be coming from a pipe, not from all this rain, but I hope maintenance fixes this promptly.
I read it all, but did not retain. It’s the WEEKEND! Next to last soccer game tomorrow. Stay dry, all.

I ran my errands and picked up a few groceries.

Swampy, I guess it is kind of deja vu. She did post on her Facebook account that I saved the day with my “awesome directions”. I told her that she needs to start google mapping different locations that are new to her, so she can start figuring out how to get around on her own.

I’ll need to start dinner soon. Chicken cordon bleu tonight.

What else…what else…hmmmm…nothing I guess. Hugs and smooches to all.

Taters, both my spousal unit and my offspring are directionally challenged. She has a TomTom and a husband who’s pretty good at getting around. **FCD **has a cell phone and he frequently calls me and asks for directions. I was in FL and he called from Baltimore wanting directions. Yeah, I got him where he had to go, and I didn’t have to Mapquest it. I’m that good.

We went to Olive Garden for supper, then to Lowe’s to pick up the lights **FCD **needs for his cabinet. I’m about to resume knitting.

TGIF. There, I said it.

rosie:

It was boughten ice cream, Muppet. From here. The blog has an October 7 entry with pretty pumpkin/squash pictures. (Can’t seem to link to individual entries.) The recipe category might have some categories that would help you. I also like the September 24 entry about their salty caramel ice cream. Also, several of her recipes have been published in Food & Wine magazine.

Or you could come visit me. I live around the corner from one of their locations.

I was going to suggest sending your daughter to Google maps, Taters.

I was thinking the same about the English peas issue. Muppet, I think you’re right that they add the “English” to distinguish from all those other weird peas that we northern types think of as beans.

Yay for Mr. Rebo. Boo for Gopher’s training issues and Rebo’s co-worker/HR experiences.

Long day, but finally home. Will probably have to go into work on Sunday. :frowning:

I know there’s more, but I can’t remember what.

ETA: Forgot to say: cool coding, **Mork!
**
Hugs.

Attacks Husband came back from errands this afternoon trying to convince me that it was actually beautiful outside- sunny and swarm, in spite of the cold wind whistling under the door, the rain, and the semi-gale winds tossing the trees about. Hah. Very funny. I went out this morning, ain’t leaving the house again.

He and Quasi-Daughter are on their way to the farm now, in spite of QD’s family. We’re leaving to join them in about twelve hours, yay!
taxi, that sounds very interesting. I’m going to a friend’s church’s book club on Wednesday for a discussion about my favourite novel, and their denomination is about as far as you can get from mine without being Wiccan or Hindu or something. Should be interesting.

Right. I need to empty and refill the dishwasher and scrub down the kitchen. But I have a package of Trader Joe’s pecan pralines and a nice warm computer.

gt, I envy you your ice cream place.

Oh, yeah- the blasted ultrasound tech won’t tell me if it’s a boy of a girl- I’ve got to wait for my midwife appointment on the 18th. Pthibbit.
