I've Got Your Goat, A College Flashback MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Just checkin’ in before brekkie and work purtification. Hope everyone’s day goes reasonably well.

morning all, up and caffeinating here as well. waves to Swampy

One down, four to go! Nava, I enjoyed your informative goat tales. My Dad apparently had a pet goat when he was a kid (LOL pun not intended!)–they lived in a rural area; he regales us with his own goat tales from time to time.

{{{{{{Rigs}}}}}} hon, your hubby is delusional, unfortunately. :frowning:

I gotta get ready to head out the door. Happy Tuesday all!

No, Rigs. Not insane.

Blurf.

Nobody shot me last night when I made that impassioned plea, so here I sit for another day of SQHell. You bastards.

It’s because we care, Bobbio.

Not insane, rigs. I wondered what the heck he was thinking when I read his comment.

Gotta get to work.

Hugs.

GT

Here. At work. Eating leftover Chinese for breakfast.

Blurf.

Mrphrrbl. It’s mornin’. Sloggin’ back coffee trying to wake up. The remainder of this cold still isn’t making sleep any easier. But to make matters worse we recorded House on the PVR last night only do discover it had been preempted 45 minutes by a damned baseball game, so all the PVR recorded was the last 45 minutes of a ball game and the first 15 minutes of House. We had to find a time-shift station on the west coast that had it on at 11 and watched it then instead, despite wanting to have gone to bed by then. I suppose we could have just recorded it and watched it today instead but I really wanted to see this episode.

Fish for dindin last night was good. It was breaded with potato instead of the usual tempura-style batter (which I don’t much care for), and after seasoning it with lemon and fresh ground peppercorns it was delish. Gotta get more of that.

Meanwhile, I’ma goin’ back to the grind on account o’ I need the paycheques.

That’ll learn you to set the PVR to Fox, Mindy. Global played it right on schedule. (The Canadian networks seem to be less likely than their 'Murican counterparts to postpone prime time TV shows to play the tail end of a game)

rigs, totally agree with you. Sounds like wishful accounting to me.

OK, time to get some work done. Urk.

edumacating time.

I get the ocular migranes, too, though it’s been a while. Mine manifest mostly on the left side. I found that it I take some advil and shut my eyes for about five to ten minutes, they go away.

rigs, your brother needs a serious take-down.

muppet, Mr. Anachi doesn’t like cooked cabbage either so when I have a yen, I just do stuffed peppers instead which he likes.

rosie, just what does “salad days” mean anyway? I’ve never been able to figure that out.

mork, was it potato flakes on the fish?

rebo, you are a woman after my own heart!

Ah, well, work beckons.

Tupug

@Manha[sup]2[/sup] - Yeah, I know, but we don’t usually check game schedules before setting the PVR so the wife just stuck it on FoxHD and let it go. Next time we’ll record local.

Puggy - It was probably fine potato flakes or something like that, yeah; but it was good though. I much prefer fish to be coated that way than traditional batter.

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

rigs, that FB post gave me a WTF moment, too.

VBob, I didn’t shoot you because I can’t spell “trigger” either.:stuck_out_tongue:

My second year in college, when we’d pledged and moved out of the dorm and into a house with some brothers, we had a goat in our backyard. What’s weird, and probably says more about the volume of beer we consumed, is that I really can’t remember what it was doing there. So in short, we had a goat but I really can’t elaborate.

There was a place down the road that always had a bunch of goats standing under a big sign that said “Froner Ranch”. So we’d drive by and say “Look… froners.”

Mindy, that’s what you get for buying 'Murican. Just saying.

I had a lovely one-hour call to discuss open issues. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, except that Boss Guy went and dumped a bunch of issues on someone else without giving the guy a heads up, and then found an excuse not to attend the call. Charming, no? I love taking crap for someone else’s passive aggressive stupidity.

lieu, don’t all frat houses have a resident goat?

I can haz an answer? I’ve got a question, but it’s not big enough for GQ and it’s about jews and today isn’t the Sabbath, amazingly enough…

There is a specific name for the wave of immigrants that went from Russia to Israel thanks to Perestroika, isn’t it? What is it, assuming I haven’t just got the wrong idea?

It’s juuuuust about naptime here. :o

Chocolate has been acquired. DEFCON levels can be returned to normal.

The Jews who weren’t allowed to leave earlier were called refuseniks. Don’t know what they were called as they immigrated, though.

ZOMG… One of my photos just got linked on Apartment Therapy, which is like, my favouritest home stuff blog EVAR. I just squealed like a little girl.

Nava, there doesn’t seem to be a specific name for this group (I’ll double check with The Angry Russian when I next see her, tho, as her family emigrated to Israel back in the early 90s… if that’s not an authoritative source, I don’t know what is :))… here’s a wiki link, in the meantime.

Was it a diaspora?

Thanks, all for your reality checks. I dunno what I’m gonna do about this–IMO, his comment stems from my frustrating his Bermuda scheme. Why can’t family that almost never makes contact stay that way?
I had my 2-D Echocardiogram with Doppler today. My heart’s all purty inside. It looked normal to me, but IANAD etc. I didn’t see any stenosis or regurgitation…

And then I went shopping. I am tired of feeling fat and dowdy. The fat cannot be instantly taken care of, but dowdy can be. I made a killing at Carson’s (50% off sale). What is it with slacks and shrinkage? I buy slacks and the length is fine and then after about 2 washings (not in hot water), they’re floods on me. So, I bought yet ANOTHER pair of black/gray/blue pants as well. Not the same brand.

I am prepping Daughter’s birthday care package. She will be 20 on Sunday. Cookies are in the oven as I type. I got her a mini tool kit. I had to make one, since they aren’t sold anyway near me, but I got her a lil tape measure, a small hammer and 2 small screwdrivers (one Phillips, one straight), a small adjustable wrench and a pair of needle nose pliers. I’m going to throw in a variety of nails and standard screws and she should be set. Hopefully, it will all fit in this plastic box I have (not a tool kit box).

Off to bake some more. Toodles!
