That makes no sense. Nobody questioned her right to say what she wanted to. That has not been attacked, and requires no defending. Nor did I call her a whore or anything thT could be construed as misogynistic.
As for staring? Let me clue you in. Sighted heterosexual men like to look at pretty girls and they do it whenever they get the chance. You’ve heard of Playboy? Maxim? Strip clubs? These things cater to that desire. Guys look at girls. We are usually pretty discrete about it, but it is what we do.
I can’t believe that I’m here on the SDMB having to explain that guys like to look at women. This must be quite a revelation to you.
Of course I’m a raging weenie in a snit. I’m posting an angry rant about something a supermodel said in an interview for Chrissakes. That’s pretty much the definition, right?
The other issue is more interesting. In point of fact I have not been alone in my assessment in this thread. Even if I was , that makes me neither right nor wrong. Nor does the Fact that she makes her living off her looks mean that they are healthy. Chinese used to bind feet for beauty, and their is a long and inglorious tradition of women damaging and maiming themselves to comply with some arbitrary transient fashion of beauty.
I think the type of beauty JH is portraying is a particularly unhealthy one. To attain and maintain such a look is going to tend to be damaging to one’s health and well-being. It is also the type of beauty that tends to crash fast.
For gawds sake don’t tell her about the “undressing with the eyes subroutine” that comes on the standard male model. Or the frequent “fantasy” ugrade either. She’ll splode!
Usually she’s not going to be by herself in a club. She’s gonna be with her gfs. So pick the least attractive one of the bunch, and hit on her while you totally ignore the hottie. Just the expression on the hottie’s face will make it worthwhile.
Yeah, maybe in the movies. In real life, the hottie just cuts her eyes at her friends in a silent “look at this nitwit, using his ‘Gigolo for Dummies’ lessons.”
I gotta chime in on this one. I knew a guy that treated women like shit. Not like beat em or take their money bad, but ignore em, blow em off..blah blah blah. Basically the exact opposite of “put em on a pedestal”. And also certainly not how any rational person would hope someone they would want to date would treat them.
He was never short a woman. In fact, he was often juggling a few at any given time. He was not extremely handsome. Not rich. Not in uniform. Not some glamorous job. Not in a band..blah blah blah.
It certainly worked for him. Now, the calibre or sanity of the women he did manage to attract with that technique might be an issue, but it sure worked.
I know it is true that a lot of beautiful women seem to go for guys that treat them poorly. But I think some guys are kidding themselves that it is something they can ‘learn’. They can’t. It is the certain kind of swagger of a guy who honestly doesn’t give a fuck.
He is the one that women like, and they can spot a phoney a mile away. Trust me. Like Scylla’s creepy ass, I too like to observe beautiful women.
Well, in this case the guy “learned it”. Or more specifically he figured it out himself (he was pretty sharp and observant). Keep in mind this happened before the internet and “treat em like ho’s” DIY video’s.
He actually WAS a nice guy. He probably would have loved to be all nice and yet still wallowing in putang. He went through high school AND college without much action. Finally, he figured out his particular formula and said fuck it, I’ll be an ass.
He even coached a friend or two in it and it worked for them too. About the ONLY reason I’d didnt do it was I just can’t bring myself to be an ass, no matter what the rewards (okay a couple million might do it. Some putang I’d love to have, not so much).
Well sure, that is the assumption with 99% of the celebrity quotes I read, as it should be, knowing some very forthright entertainment writers and editors. It’s mostly crapola. But then what would people talk about, if not the carefully created characters populating Hollywood? You can’t flip through a trashy magazine making judgments about every celebrity on the page then stop at one and decide she alone has been misquoted or taken out of context (well, okay, you can).
foolsguinea, you are an idiot. Scylla said she’s “technically obese,” not “fat.” I never heard the term “technically obese” before this thread, but to think that it means “fat” is just completely stupid.
Why didn’t you just ask him what he meant instead of jumping to conclusions? Oh, right, you are stupid.
The people on the fitness forums I’ve been on all refer to this as “skinny fat.” Basically it’s someone who can fit into size 6 jeans, but is still totally out of shape and flabby. Or what Scylla is calling “technically obese” but I like “skinny fat” better because “technically obese” makes it sound like you interviewed the person to find out their BMI score or something.
I seem to recall a medical article that referred to folks like that as TOFI, thin outside fat inside. And IIRC, the only people more unhealthy than them are morbidly obese people.
Well, i’ve made a request for the OP to provide evidence that she fits into some particular technical description of obesity, but as far as i can tell, he’s so far been disinclined to provide any such evidence.
