Jess Hart, It's on, Babe

The OP is a dumbass (also, weird and creepy). Yes, there are fairly slender people with unhealthily high body fat percentages. [URL=“http://www.outofaces.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Jessica-Hart-2.jpg”]Jessica Hart is not one of them, by a very long shot. I would be surprised if she exceeded 20% body fat, at least in the bikini candids I’ve seen of her. She is a small, thin woman without much muscle OR fat mass - and awesome abs.

Also, unfair as it is, your average bikini model with the type of figure Jess Hart probably has through genetics rather than work, seems to age better than more average-size women, even though they have more pounds of muscle on their frames. See, Cindy Crawford then andnow.

Several bikini shots from SI show her about to dive into a pool, diving into the pool, fully submerged, and treading water. The ladder visible in several shots is of known make, the specs of which are on line. From this I determined scale. By measuring the difference in water level (by pixel count on the hi-def shots interpolated through the known scale,) I was able to calculate the volume of water she displaced.

In the swimming shots, the water she was propelling airborne gave me the force of her strokes. It was then a simple analysis to calculate the force she was exerting to remain buoyant by measuring the length of her arm, the moment arm of her stroke, and applying the resultant vector of force exerted against the water (which of course remains a constant.) From this I was able to calculate her buoyancy.

Armed with these two figures it was then a simple matter to determine her specific gravity, and then convert those figures through the BMI algorithm (available online.)

This gave me a 38.7% body fat reading.

Then I remembered that I forgot to allow for the bikini (lycra.) 39.14%

So, you see? technically obese.

Careful, you’re wading into the Dio end of the pool.

I don’t know. If you are a nice guy acting like an asshole, aren’t you an asshole? You’re even worse than an asshole acting like an asshole, because at least that guy is being honest and true to himself. Since being an asshole is determined by behavior the guy who is acting unnaturally to be perceived as an asshole is in fact an asshole. This makes him a bigger asshole than your standard garden-variety asshole because this guy is working at it deliberately, and in his heart he’s a fake asshole.

I would also think that the kind of guy who would deliberately treat women badly just to get them to like him is going to be to his… soul (so to speak,) which is not going to be good. It’s going to be hard for him to respect or genuinely like the women he is tricking into liking him, thus poisoning the relationship before it begins. How is he going to maintain the charade through a relationship? He’s going to need to keep playing this fake person constantly. Eventually the facade will fail and the woman will see that she’s been lied to.

Additionally, you would think that this sort of approach would tend to work best on damaged people with a low self-esteem, or those with a desire to be abused in some fashion, not exactly the type of person you would necessarily want to attract for a long term relationship. What you end up with is the fake attracting the damaged.

I would think that a woman with healthy self-esteem and ready for a healthy relationship would be comfortable being liked and desired for who she is, and would be smart enough to value the man for who he is, and that an attempt for the man to elevate his social standing by demeaning hers would be seen as a transparent maneuver.

Plus, a couple of dipshits think I’m creepy because I’ve admitted to a lingering glance at attractive flesh. I would think this sort of behavior is a lot higher on the creep meter.

You’re an idiot.

The term itself, “technically obese,” supposes a particular, technical definition of obesity into which this person presumably fits. I’m simply asking how the OP arrived at his determination. And he has since seen fit to return the the thread and demonstrate that he’s not only an asshole, but that he has no idea what he’s talking about.

You and he make a great couple.

I don’t rate myself much better in looks than Scylla does himself, but this person, who I’ve luckily never heard of before, isn’t in MY league. Why does she think she has the right and annoy me as it suits her when I’m at a bar? I don’t want some underfed cow, who was probably put away wet one too many times, coming on to me when I’m sitting with my friends, either.
Frankly, it’s a matter of perception. She thinks she’s hot, I don’t. It would do her good to get shot down a few times without being given the time of day like she’s probably done to countless others.

Dammit Scylla, you are good. :smack:

Probably the best whoosh thread ever in the 10+ years I have been here.
You bastard. Merry Xmas.

Typical.

Do you have a macro that automatically inserts that into each of your posts, or do you actually take the time to do it yourself? And if you do it yourself, doesn’t the repetition ever get to you??

Actually, it’s a bit more complicated than that.

With folks like Rand Rover and Scylla, it requires looking at each post individually, because sometimes they are idiots, and sometimes they are just assholes. They also, on rare occasions, have something reasonably intelligent to say.

You are much easier. The “You’re an idiot” macro was, in fact, created with you specifically in mind.

That’s exactly what he did. And he continues to correct those who say he was calling her fat. Not a big deal, but I’d like the OP to define “technically obese” and how he know JH fits that description. But given all the back-peddling he’s doing, I doubt he will.

I did. I even gave an example where I showed how somebody became technically obese though yo-yo dieting. I broke their body mass down into muscle, bone, fat, in order to show how somebody be very healthy at 125 pounds, and yet obese at 105 pounds without actually gaining a pound of fat.

“Technically obese” simply means that you are obese based on % of body, even though you may appear skinny. I think I said that, too.

Then later, I also did talk about why Jess Hart fell into the category.

So, you know get off my ass and stop bitching if you’re not even gonna bother to read the thread.

If you think what I said was incomplete ask questions, I’ll answer.

Okay—who’s your favorite Monkee?

Micky Dolenz

Is there a term for the contrary? I can gaze down over my double chin at my love handles, and yet measured 16% body fat the last time I was tested at the gym. And more importantly, what can I do to become “technically obese” instead?

Thanks for the pic. If I ever see Jess Hart in a bar I’m not going to speak to her. I’m gonna slug her. At an income-threatening level.

You want a serious answer? How old are you? Male or female? How fast can you run a 5k? How many chinups can you do without coming off the bar? How many good form push ups? How many times can you touch your knees to your chest while hanging from a chin up bar?

41, male. I’m afraid I don’t understand any of the other questions.

What you said was fairly sound (although it’s unlikely that anyone losing weight in order to be underweight and look skinny would lose so much muscle mass without losing a great deal of their fat mass as well). It’s clear though that you don’t have a grasp on what an ‘obese’ body fat percentage is (over 30% for women), or what people look like at different body fat percentages. ‘Skinny-fat’ obese-by-body-fat-percentage women do not look like Jess Hart. They may look small/thin enough in clothes, but put them in a bathing suit and they are soft and squishy all over. They do not have defined arm, shoulder, back and ab muscles. Like I said, she’s probably right around 18-20% - on the lower side of the ideal range for women.

So, you are totally wrong that Jess Hart has a high body fat percentage, and it’s kind of fucked-up to accuse her of having one. Here are some visual guides to body fat percentage, for your edification.

I also know you’re wrong because I’ve had my own body fat tested by DEXA and 7-point caliper several times.

Thanks for those links! I think in the first one, the dude at 30% looks waaay bigger than the female at 30%. I guess that makes sense, because for a woman 30% is closer to ideal than for a man

My question was define it and show how you know she fits it. As far as I can tell the best insight you offered was, "I’d guess Jess’s bodyfat to be in the mid to upper 30s range. She is “technically obese.” A blank statement of her “technically obese” status based on your guess. You have yet to show how you obtained her stats.

Look, your OP is basically ‘Jess, you made a snotty comment that bothered me. That’s your right so I won’t comment on that but I will try to use a lot of mumbo jumbo to call you names’. It’s silly.
