It’d be nice to have him IN 2008, but it would be much nicer to have him in 2009 and keep all your prospects.
Santana is wonderful, but pitchers are inherently risky. $120-150 million PLUS a boatload of kids is just too much.

I agree, but it sounds like Boston might pull of the deal for less than the Yanks offered. It will be interesting to watch.
I think I already mentioned, I am hoping the Twins just play him out in 2008 along with Nathan. The Yanks free up $80m+ at the end of the season and will need one starter and one CF or RF and maybe 1B. That is a lot of money to sign Santana and maybe 2 others.
