Well, in my first two games I was the last Town nightkilled, and here in my first game as Wolf I die in the night. Sheesh!
nm
Haha! I knew there was something different about you!
You fooled me, Prof. I certainly didn’t want to see you swing yesterDay. That play style would be tough to keep up though… people would start asking themselves “wait, why haven’t the scum killed him yet?”
I assume a vigilante killed you, which was smart play by the vig. Day 1 runner-up (when the lynch nets town) is as good a time as any to clear the air for Day 2.
I was back-and-forth on Dante G because of that post, and I was planning on poking him a bit toDay, which obviously won’t happen anymore. If you and I ever play in a game together though, I don’t know what I’d do with you. We seem to think so alike, I’d just assume you were town.
Yeah, ya got me. What gave it away?
Well, at least I did fool one experienced player.
I assume a vigilante killed me too, as I have no information on that.
It’ll be interesting to watch along, and I hope I can keep from blurting out spoilers.
This is somewhat maddening. I’ve been playing for over 2 months straight now, and haven’t been taken out of the action early, and I feel like an addict needing his fix.
This sounds a lot like “scum lecturing,” which I’ve found to be a pretty good indicator of scummyness. Usually, it takes the form of “as we all know…”
You were too sure of the right things for the wrong reasons, mostly. You seemed “off”, for whatever reasons. Lots of small things not adding up. In Dante’s game we talked a lot off each other, in this one you seemed to try to distance yourself from arguments by declaring instead of inquiring. You also posted a lot with little substance, but what got me was more about what you said and why you would do it that way. Did you learn something from it, if only insight into the situation? I learned a lot from my first scum game. I’ve been hoping to be scum for some time, it’s been so long. Well, at least I got to try out my first power, for better or for worse.
I don’t care so much for being scum: I’d rather be town. My real problem, I think, was that I was coming off of two games where it had been taken for granted that I was town, and somehow thought that would carry through into this one. My error.
Yeah, self-confidence in that situation needs to appear sincere and that’s difficult to pull off. The smallest stuff can blow your cover, or just turn public opinion against you. I felt we were more or less on the same page last game. You said exactly what I wanted you to say in almost every post and I could more or less coast on that while still you made sure I could keep voicing my opinions on the more controversial aspects of that game in safety. You even guessed sangfroid being Hans without my result! if I’d realised WF Tomba was breadcrumbing, I’d had a chance to survive the night, and we might have made it impossible for Astral to signal out our noise for nefarious purposes and a sorry outcome for the best mash-up action movie I’ve ever played in.
Wild unsubstantiated speculation: On the **Sario **vote - I’m undecided about **IRConfused **and sfaulkner, Mr.Hyde was scum, **Sario **and **Astral **was town, I can’t read **PCM **yet, he’s a wild card. The same with Dante G. I’ll give **TexCat **and **Biotop **the benefit of doubt for now. I also feel Dead Cat and **HookerChemical **have leaned more to the towny than not, and that is not the case for WF Tomba and Mahaloth, I think.
Simply, WF Tomba is pinging me for saying some outrageous stuff, while being seemingly reasonable earlier. **Mahaloth **is pinging me for doing or being what he’s been and done all games I’ve played with him: skirting on substance and accountability, while being a habitual lurker with a pretty solid history of experience on this board and others. So **Mahaloth **being Mahaloth… It’s unfair, I know.
Sorry for the spamming. I’ll stop after this. I don’t think you should give up on it so soon. It can be very helpful for how you play as town too. You know how it is and what kind of mentality you need in order to escape suspicion. You need to appear town, it’s that simple. Being scum helps you being town in future games. It is sour to die early, but by how often a game is played nowadays, I guess you’ll be back in business soon enough. I’m enjoying my break so far! Ciao for now, dudes and dudettes.
Oh, I’ll play Mafia again. I like it too much to stop, but I do think a few weeks or couple a months away will give me perspective. And you are terrific fun to play with Plum! I mean, yes, no one could tell if you were town or not, but the same is true with sangfroid, and, sad to say, that was just frustrating.
Yeah, but don’t be frustrated next time you get to be scum, as it’s a great opportunity to learn from. Thank you! I’m having great fun and I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable with the setup. It’s nice to see people being so psyched to play, actually. Sangfroid’s next game would probably need to see him changing his game. He’s shown that he can *play *clueless(really well!), so we know he’s **not **clueless. I’m looking forward to see how he plays next time, if he’s planning to join an upcoming game.
Dead Cat is really stretching out some scant evidence in this post. It doesn’t feel like he’s hitting on things from a townie perspective to me.
He’s trying his darnedest, that’s for sure. I think he has a Power Role and feels the responsibility of his position. But, yeah, his reasoning shows his lack of experience.
Please be careful of spoilers.
