Oh, I am. I rewrote that post four times.
He’s trying. And I agree with the conclusion. TexCats post right after is much better.
Oh and Prof. I just wanted to say regarding some of the sentiments you voiced in-thread, that lurking is just something you put up with until you have enough of a picture of the situation. Habitual lurking becomes a bit more troublesome, but if there’s a pattern and you just can’t keep the weight, I’d still advice you to vote for whoever you think is scummiest. At least try to find a way that it ties into scummy behavior, add something new to the lists we all keep. There are instances where you need to think strategically, but that information may come in all shapes and forms. You need to sort out the noise and try find a signal, even if that may result in tolerating lurking during triggerhappy Days.
IMO and not because saying “lynch the lurker” is in any way scummy in itself, of course.
Just like my problems with proof reading, I’ll say sorry in advance since I’m busy learning how to knit. I’ve made a couple of pieces of unisex underwear.
Dante G is a dilemma. His case could be similar to sangfroid’s case, last game. I remember him coming off as pretty scummy my first game, too. The game he ran was really fun, maybe he just brainfarts when he’s playing or something. I know he’s not used to a lot of analysis. Or he could be doing as** sangfroid** did, playing the fool. I’d investigate him. He’s useful to scum as an enigma, but could be worth keeping around.
The Tomba lynch is going down too easily. I doubt he is scum.
But he has claimed vanilla, so there is a certain advantage of not tossing the danger around anymore this Day. Forcing a claim from a doc or cop could be more detrimental at this point.
I don’t think anyone else was even remotely in danger though. It could be that Tomba’s buddies just couldn’t get anything else going, and need to fall in line with town’s lynch. I think I would have voted to lynch Tomba, were I still alive.
Maybe he’s town, maybe he’s scum. He has been pretty antsy all game, I think. Jumping and yelling for what amounts to nothing. I’d be comfortable lynching him. He’s down anyway, just waiting for the confirm…
Welcome, Tomba! If it’s any consolation, I wanted you killed last night.
Looking at it now, I bet there’s a wolf among those who didn’t vote for me.
Hi Tomba! You are welcome to share your thoughts here. I didn’t mind seeing you go, but then again I’m on the outside. I’m sure I’d been less casual about it in game.
I think this is good. There has to be wolves on that wagon, we just need to narrow down who. I’m going over all of them again, I think, at some point. But for now I’ll continue with my wild ass speculation build entirely around what I feel like…
Mahaloth is put on hold, I think.
I’ll have to rethink some, but I’m still pretty convinced by TexCat. Maybe I’m a fool. I think TexCat may die.
Biotop needs a new look anyway. His posts are long and takes time getting through. I still feel pretty townie on him, but I’ll skim back through his history.
Hooker needs a new look.
PCM and Sub are alien to me.
Dante G: Wildcard
The new ones: Need a new look.
Them means players alive, not players on a wagon.
Octarine strikes me as scum.
(1) This is the first I’m even noticing this player
(2) Reaction to Tomba being Town is… odd. How could Octarine feel so confident about that lynch? I could see being ‘okay’ with the lynch, or maybe ‘ambivalent’ but ‘really sure’? That statement looks like scum trying to look townie and failing badly. There is no way a Townie felt ‘really sure’ about that vote.
It’s a bit more nuanced than that. But I get your point.
The flip side of that argument is look at what it earned WFTomba. He died. That’s why what he said was so incredibly uncharacteristic of scum. Scum avoid making a bold and unfounded case because it causes deadness. This has been true for years now on the SDMB. Until the meta-game changes, it’s still a good Town tell in my book.
Hmmm. Octarine has striken(I’m not sure this is a word) me as one of the more townie new players. I definately need another read through, but your suspicion strikes me as a bit odd. Do you have any other thoughts about Octarine? Other than reaction to a death and a general first-time reaction?
I’m suspicious as hell of Octarine. He or she was the second vote on me.
Why?
To reiterate: Why do you of you think Octarine is scummy? I’m curious.
It’s kind of a gut thing, and based on my track record, you probably shouldn’t put much stock in it. But I just felt like these players who had sort of been hiding in the background, not drawing attention to themselves, came right out of the gate against me on Day 2. It seemed like something that had been planned during the Night.
To me that’s a null tell. I just can’t know enough about they yet to make a judgement. I’ve been tricked by it too many times to consider it so early with players I get no read off of otherwise. And otherwise I consider **Octarines **contributions pretty well. Is there a slip? Is there something I’ve missed? Not to diss your six-pack, I’ve mostly used it myself in this thread.
Yeah, I played almost strictly from the gut in this game. I think these players are too smart to make any kind of significant “slip”.
