One of the reasons the Pit exists is so that posters can air grievances about other posters. It does not exist so you can open a thread merely for the purpose of calling a poster “putz” and inviting others to do so. It’s not even amusing.
Unless I hear a compelling reason why this thread should remain open, I’m closing it down soon.
I absolutely hate when posters do this. Do you know how many threads are active, much less archived? Is every newbie obligated to search over 10,000 threads just so someone whose been around longer then they were won’t make them feel like a jerk because they don’t know the long history of SDMB?

ET, you and others got slapped down because you barged into a funeral to snipe at the bereaved. The point of the thread was absence due to a death in the family. Chris kindly informed the community why a poster was absent.
So you don’t like someone…or many people; who cares? Nothing is tackier or crueller than using a condolence post to vent your opinions about the posting history of the bereaved.
Real people are behind the lines of text on the screen. Debates and disagreements are okay; sneak attacks aren’t. Sure, you have every right to form your opinions of posters. You, and no one else, has the right to level a vicious personal attack out of pure spite.
It isn’t necessary to like someone on a message board to show simple human decency in the face of loss.
Cheap shot, loser. Cheap shots only harm the aggressor; which may serve as a reminder to those who try to drag Wally’s memory into their wickedness. He was the funniest, more fallible, and kindest friend ever. He was marvellously human, and that’s why he’s missed so badly.
Plus, he could deal with idiots like these far more effectively than all of us combined. They’re lucky HE isn’t here to tear them a new one about this. Believe, they would have walked funny for weeks.

I have to agree with this, and I am a newbie. I figured out references to all of the following w/out having to ask: Wally, Mark Serlin and poufy hair, felching, squicking, queefs, Satan’s Ass. It wasn’t that tough. Of course, last time I checked, I had more than a pile of maggots feasting on dog shit for brains, unlike some newbies.
