Kiva: Yes, do come. I’m hoping to be a Seattle Doper soon, myself.
Well, heck, Arnold, I’d be glad to hold forth! I just finished the new book and I am flying!
Well I just checked the flights and they are wide open. So I’m gonna make it!
I’m going to try to make the Museum trip, but don’t wait for me if I’m not there. (The shops may call out to me!)
So, who’s going to be holding the huge sign in the LACMA courtyard so’s all us newbies can find the rest of y’all?
I can make it. Our company is here this weekend, so I’ll be free next. Mr. Rilch may accompany me if work permits; he hasn’t been to LACMA in a while. In any event, I’ll be looking for that sign!
I am so excited. Two more days till I get to see LA again, and five more till my very first Doperfest.
This is going to be great!
So, is everyone remembering the SDMB/F3MB gathering on Saturday 22 July 2000?
Date: Saturday 22 July 2000
Museum goers:
Time: 13:00 - 13:30 (1:00 PM - 1:30 PM) - meet in the plaza in front of the ticket office at LACMA. Museum visiting from 13:30 until museum closing time.
P.S. Any ideas on how the first-timers will know whom to approach?
Drinkers and eaters: meet at Marie Callender’s on Wilshire at 17:30 (5:30 PM).
So far, from SDMB and F3MB, we seem to have the following RSVPs:
Yes
Kiva, Rilchiam, dogsbody, zyada, Johnny L.A., chief, pricciar, phouka, Ruffian, Catrandom, Ursa Major, Melin, Highlander
Maybe/No
Baglady, JavaMaven1, Lord Vega, Cowboy Greg
Please confirm your attendance (or lack of), and for those of you who want to join us but haven’t spoken up yet, please post in the thread, (and, if you wish, reply to the e-mail.) When RSVPing, it would be helpful if you RSVP saying
___ Museum
___ Restaurant
___ both
F3MB thread
I will blank attend. (wedding-invitation thread from a few weeks ago) I’ll be at both locations.
I will attend the Museum portion of the gathering.
Far as I know, the fiancé and I will be there.
I plan on going to both. Hopefully I won’t be late for the museum portion.
I had a question though. Anyone out there know of good places to park around there? Is it tough? I have never been to LACMA, so I don’t know the parking situation.
Thanks.
pat
Hm. Maybe I should ride the motorcycle. Bikes often park free.
If you are on Wilshire, facing north (towards LACMA):
The street on the west (left) side of the Tar Pits is Ogden Drive. There is a covered parking structure on the west (left) side of Ogden Drive, which costs approx. $5 a day. Parking in that lot is free after 7:00 PM.
I’m pretty sure (but not 100% sure) that the open parking lot behind the museum, on Curson Avenue, the street to the right (east) of LACMA, is still there, but I can’t guarantee it. If you do park there be sure to ask them when the parking lot closes.
You could also try to park for free on the street behind the museum (West 6th street), but you have to hunt for a spot.
i will be there on sat for the museum and probably to eat too although i may have to leave early.
it should be fun, looking forward to meeting you all!
later,
I will be there for both, and I also want to do the La Brea tar pits. Anyone else interested?
I’ll be wearing a long red summer dress, so I’ll be easy to spot. Perhaps we all, as Arnold suggested to me over email, wear long red dresses. That way, there’d be no problem spotting each other.
I think Arnold should stand in front and blow bubbles!
I’ll will be there for the restaurant and probably for the musuem.
I’ll be there for both, barring bus crashes. And since I am coming in on the bus, I’ll be the one in the jeans and sneakers
Catrandom
OK I’m in for dinner 17:30 at Marie’s on Wilshire right?
So, how will I know which group of LA crazies is the correct one?
Everyone wearing red dresses?
Everyone blowing bubbles?
A teeming millions sign?
Rick
Bumping by… I haven’t been to the tar pits since the requisite visit in grade school. Let’s do it if we have time.
Catrandom
I’d kinda prefer the Tar Pits to LACMA, since I was there only six weeks ago (class project, gotta love it). But I’m good with either.
And I don’t own a red dress…
