First on 7?
we haven’t gotten to 7 pages in a while
We’ve still got a day to go! ONWARDS TO PAGE 8!
That’s what pisses me off the most–he told me he spent an hour defending me to these people, checked the tapes, and threw me under the bus. So essentially he ended up looking like the good guy while I’m the wicked witch. Dude, its Labor Day weekend, if they had cancelled that room would have filled up like that snaps fingers. Shit, I just told the 900th person tonight that we have no vacancies.
Yeah, posting from work. It’s been a madhouse. I can clear the internet cache.
I should get a raise every time I don’t tell someone “bite me.” (“Per night” were the words in question. I should not give people credit for basic human intelligence. It’s a failing of mine.)
I’m sleepified, so Ima go beddy bye.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Hey rosie…
About 5 minutes before the movie was over he said, “Is this fucking thing over yet?”
Then he declared it the dumbest movie that he’s ever seen. :p:D
(The movie in question is the remake of The Producers. I somehow talked TVMan into watching it this evening.)
And now, I think it’s about time for bed.
The musical did go on too long - He might enjoy the original - Gene Wilder is SO much better than Matthew Broderick (likewise Mostel over Lane)
We’ve been together 2 1/2 years. I believe it will take at least another 2 1/2 before I can talk him into watching it again!
I worked, I napped, I am cleaning and drinking beerverages.
Night, swampy!
{{{rigs}}} : hurriedly cleans in case of surprise rigs visit :
{{{{Spaz}}}}, glad you like the hair, though.
Pie, you should buy a Scooba to do your floors. Oh, 0600 is nothing, since I work as hard as I party. ![]()
<rings** Doggie’s** doorbell, wearing white gloves> (that sounds dirty)
Seriously folks–where is the equitable arrangement? My nasty feminist side is coming out and getting stronger. I don’t need a husband–I need a wife. A wife who will stop buying shit like generic brand cookies and take away since I make homemade and we have 1/3 the income we used to enjoy… I know, I know, but it’s the little things that drive me batshit.
I think I will up my dose of Xanax. I hope I sleep tonight.
Anyhoo, it looks to be a beautiful Sunday here, weather-wise. Hope so–I have the grocery shopping to do (TH bought 2% milk, which makes the boys gag and which I won’t drink. We have always bought skim. He knows this. HE prefers skim as well–there goes $4.), but then I hope to take a bike ride and then do nothing. Yay!
Oh, and since this thread has other people in it–hope you’re all well.
Grammy Dearest loved her pizza.
I love it that I can make her day just by showing up with a deluxe pepperoni pizza. If only I could do something about the craptacular food the nursing home feeds her more than just once every couple of months, though.
Sorry about getting thrown under the bus, Spaz. It’s what bad managers do when they’re confronted by an angry customer… and the worst part is that you don’t have much choice but to take it (given that the alternative is reminding them that they’re responsible, given that they neglected to train you properly and all).

{{{{{rigs}}}}} and {{{{{Spaz}}}}}
I’m all moved into the dorm. So far I’m the only person in my hallway. There’s 9 individual rooms (carpeted, sadly, but that was to be expected), 2 kitchens (I’ve already appropiated my piece of mine and left the pots and pans and other “to be shared” stuff I brought in sight), 2 toilets, 1 bathtub room and one shower room. Oh, and a lounge, but it was closed.
Apparently the Chaplaincy picks up stuff like pots and dishes from students who are leaving (not electric goods, sadly; methinks a toaster is an essential, given that English untoasted bread has the consistence of a drenched sponge) and re-offers (sells I imagine) them to new arrivals. I’m not going to pick anything up until my kitchenmates have arrived, though.
Usually there’s Mass on Saturdays at 6 and a Non-denominational service on Sundays at 11:30. Methinks I’ll go and find out whether they use a Bible translated to a language I understand or the King James (why is it that, in a language which received one of the first translations of the Bible from Latin, people are stuck on that translation?). They’ve also organized a lot of other stuff this week, most of it involving free food: these people clearly know how students think. They also feed people on Wednesday nights and organize excursions and whatnot.
Back to trying to organize my clothes. I’ve grown too used to having store-style, everything in sight bars instead of a closet.
Up, showered, and feeling pretty good. Yay!
We were watching Mythbusters last night and I was knitting, and falling asleep in mid-stitch. So I dragged my sleepy self to bed before 9. I woke up a couple of times during the night, but I always rolled over and fell back asleep, so when I saw it was 6, I felt good enough to get up. I’m caffeinating, contemplating a piece of b-day cake for breakfast, and surfing. The human portion of the household is asleep, but the critters are up and about.
Original plans for today involved sailing, but honestly, I hate sailing on holiday weekends. There are too many stupid people who only venture on the water 3 times a year - Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor day. They either don’t know or choose to ignore the rules of the road, they talk on the marine radio as if they’re on CBs (who says “What’s your 20?” outside of a Burt Reynolds movie anyway??) and they’re just all-around unsafe. Next weekend, they’ll have declared summer to be over, and the bay will belong to those of us who know how to play well together.
I think we’re going to clean the garage today. Yesterday, we put bigger casters on the boat cradle and wheeled it into the yard, so both cars are in the garage again - yay! But the workbench and the wood rack are a disaster. I figure with 4 of us, it won’t take long at all to make it orderly again. And I want to move the sucker/mulcher to the concrete pad behind the red shed. Since I sold the white boat trailer, we have space back there. I’ve also got to do laundry, but I may save that fun till tomorrow. We’ll see.
Happy Sunday, all! Smoochies!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Looks like it’s gonna be a beeeyootiful day here in swampland.
Plans are churchification followed by N.O.L. and pool loungin’. A few people are comin’ over for an impromptu pool party. I shall grill burgers. N.O.T. sallit is bein’ brought by one of the attendees. Various snack stuff is bein’ brought in by others. Oh and everyone is responsible for their own adult beverages. However, if I feel generous, I may make margaritas.
Sounds like a nice way to declare Summer over, imo.
Hope everybody has a good day!
Blurf. On a Sunday.
I had 2 bambilance calls that kept me up to 2 AM, but no good storytellin’ happened.
I’m off to the fahr station to inspect equipment, since it’s my month once agin’ fer it.
All purtified for churchification. I’m waitin’ on ol’ y’all know who to purtify. The spoiled brat. I made brekkies. I’m talkin’ burly butcher bacon, scrambled aigs, grits and toast. Know what he did? Ate all that and then ate the last piece of sweet N.O.T. pie for dessert. I reminded him that breakfast does not include dessert. He said, “Sez who?” Did he ask me if I wanted any? Why no! Just wolfed it down. Good thing for him I just happen to be right fond of him.
Think I’ll go read me some Sunday funnies.
{{{Spaz}}} – that sucks really badly. I’d say “well, that shows you really need a different job,” except I’m fully aware that different jobs aren’t never easy to come by, and especially in this economic climate
{{{Rigs}}} – what you are describing is not a “nasty, feminist” side; it the “basic, equitably-sharing-the-load” side. I’m really hoping you can get your noses far enough out of the water soon, so that you can finalize the whole fiasco.
**Nava **-- sounds like an OK place. Individual room means “single” room (as in, no roommates in your bedroom), right?
When is school starting?
I am, as per usual I guess, on yet another schedule from hell. I guess it beats the alternative, and everybody here knows we’re all overworked and tries their best to get whatever concessions and delays possible from the clients. But it’s still tough at times. At least I like the job and the people I work with!
Liking the people you work with is a great thing.
Yeah, it’s all single rooms. Classes start next week: on the 14th people from my course have to register, but I think we don’t start classes until the 16th. Mind you, Translations are the only branch within the School of Business and Languages that still doesn’t have calendars and timetables up… do you think the fact that 1/3 of the teachers are Hispanic might have something to do?
Today’s Church thing was led by the University’s Chaplain, who’s Church of Scotland and likes singing. Lots of singing. I’m allergic to the bleeping carpet in the chapel itself (the rest of the building has wooden floors), but at least the Bible they use is in understandable English.
Morning. I’m caffeinated and getting ready to go get deheathenated. I was up till 0400 cleaning, so today all I have to do is go to the DOGPARK!, and go bowling.
Only if a French maid outfit is involved.
Lazy Sunday afternoons, that’s what life is all about. Well, it would be if I had one but we have spent a couple of hours in the wilderness outside the back door hacking down brambles. Our recycling collection is on Tuesday so I was determined to fill the green bin with…well…green stuff. Brambles it is, then.
The local marathon takes place today and has its beginning and end at the park round the corner from home. The downside is that the surrounding roads are closed because the runners pass both ends of the street I live on, the street joins the park’s access road to the main road in and out of town. So we have been stranded in the house all day, can’t go anywhere by car because the police won’t let people out of the street at either end, and there is no bus service either because too much of the marathon route goes along the normal bus route.
So I have had to stay at home and be productive instead - laundry’s done, ironing’s done, lunch has been cooked, dishes washed, garden’s been ‘tidied’ and some odd bits of cleaning have been done. 'im indoors has played WoSW.
Perhaps you can see why I’m not such a fan of WoSW now? It’s not the just fact that he spends every. waking. moment. playing it at the weekends, nor the fact that he stays up until 3-4am playing it so we don’t see much of each other at the weekends, nor that our evenings are planned around gaming time and raid time etc…no, I’m not that struck on the whole games thing.
Moonie - if you think gamer girls are hotter than non-gamer girls, you have been looking in the wrong direction.
rigs and Spaz - just 'cos.
Doggio, do you need a bucket of cold water there?
rosie’s sig to the rest of you, whatever you’re up to!
I do hope you do better today than last time
