Because in his view she deserves to get away. He made that clear when talking to the chief and state’s attorney. In fact, he should be getting some flack for the shooting incident since Ava had no reason to eat shoots and leaves if she hadn’t been told her deal had been revoked.

Seriously, it’s unlikely that anyone would assume Raylan ‘must’ have told her about the revocation. Most, knowing Ava’s history, would simply assume that she was a treacherous dame who decided to cash in for that full $10 mill (as opposed to half) when she got the chance.
The assistant US attorney is a thoroughgoing dick as backstabbing as Wynn Duffy. Ava did the best she possibly could have to live up to her end without getting killed, right up until she shot Boyd and made of with the 10M

Ava is not quite resourceful enough to get away and never be found.
If she hadn’t already shown Raylan the name on her fake passport and ID she would have a very good shot of getting away and not being found, but she kinda blew that chance.
Raylan is not the sort who would give that information to just any deputy marshall. He can find her, but Boyd and others can’t do so quite as easily.
I would be very surprised if that deliberately-unattractive character doesn’t receive some sort of humiliating/painful comeuppance in (or before) the finale. Not that this show is formulaic…but they wouldn’t be going to the trouble to set him up as Mr. Douche if there were to be no payoff.
I don’t think he had time to set up fake bricks of money. Or at least enough time to do it convincingly. If the money was fake and Boyd figured it out, Boyd could very well shoot him and Catherine. Maybe he would be okay with Catherine dying, but then I don’t know why he’d go out there with bags of money if he was. I had thought that after hearing that she was the snitch he would just tell Boyd to buzz off, kill her if he wants to. I think Avery loves Catherine in spite of everything. They might be a contrast against Ava and Boyd, it’ll be interesting to see.
The number of mis-directions and shell games going on - I put nothing past them.
I do agree it seems ‘up and up’ and that timing suggests it was real money from Markham - but Ava hasn’t had the chance to check yet and Boyd’s already suspicious -last thing he wants to be caught with (when picking up Ava) is all that money.
Eh, I don’t really think of Vasquez as douche - technically speaking he is on point and he pretty much has been the entire series. He’s a little smarmy at times, but generally very smart and has been shown to be semi-reasonable and willing to work with Raylan et al. before. He’s just no longer willing to cut any slack and frankly who can blame him. He has no personal stake in Ava and too him she must just look like another lying CI trying to play both sides against the middle, which frustrates his ability to make a case.
I’m sympathetic to Ava’s plight because as a viewer I can empathize with her :). Raylan is ( a little less ) sympathetic as an ex-lover. Vasquez has no reason to feel the same.
Yeah Ava has been completely half assing the CI thing from the start, going as far as trying to run away and turning back to Boyds side. Granted, her life was on the line at the time, but from Vazques pov whatever they offered her she has not earned at all.
I thought the same thing. Boyd was mighty sloppy with his inspection of those bags. Who knows what surprises could be in there?

Still I think the point should be made that OPEN SPOILERS shouldn’t apply to the coming attractions that some like to avoid.
The last thing I want to do is classifying something as to what degree of open spoiler it is. In my mind, if the thread is marked OPEN SPOILERS; well then I’d proceed with caution.
My wife agrees with what others have said; she doesn’t think Boyd is dead; and that he’ll recover just fine. Is it possible that the Ava and Boyd set that up somehow? I don’t see the point; but it’s definitely a plausible plot twist, seeing how this season has gone. It never occurred to me that Boyd switched the money after he got it from Markham; but before meeting with Ava. Ooohhh that would be a great twist!
The ADA is a dick; and somehow I hope that Ava makes it out of Harlan.
I can’t wait to see how redneck cowboy dude meets his fate; especially after being such an asshole at the diner.
I was kinda hoping that there was a gun under the hat - or that EVERYONE in the diner took turns shooting him.
I am hoping that he returns to threaten Loretta some more and she offers him a drink of Mags Bennet’s Apple Pie…
That being said the gunfight between he and Raylan is being foreshadowed pretty hard.
Again, I am sure going to miss this show when it ends.
Raylan never actually saw Boyd with the money, which was the point of waiting until he was caught with it. I don’t watch previews, but assuming he survives, it does’t look like Boyd could be charged with anything.
