nellie I found this one from the NYT. Now it’s putting me at 268 millionth, behind 86,000 in my county.
vango’s site was even better than mine, Thanks @Paintcharge!
Here’s where I came out with it:
Keep in mind, that I stumbled into a tiny opening on my city/county public health dept site Wednesday and got jabbed Thursday, so the estimate was not as optimistic as my reality ended up being. Hang onto that.
Also yesterday it came out that the one vaccine, Pfizer I believe, doesn’t have to be kept in that daunting ultra cold freeze every hour til it is in your arm, which should open up availability ALOT. Neighborhood pharmacies and doctors offices. The FDA has to sign off on that and then that should help also.
It told me I was behind 26,300 others in my county, but I still was able to get jabbed Thursday, well ahead of their estimate. Again, hang in there, kiddo.
Not our First, daughter already has a nearly 4yo. The always wanted two so this one is beautifully timed.
They are fortunate children as they are the only grandchildren of all four grandparents, not to mention a maiden aunt who is an RAF officer, although all her money goes on horses.
I prefer a card as my phone would probably die just when I needed it most. I think you may be right though.
My phone’s already fancier than I want. I don’t want to pay any more for what basically would be a pocket watch with a phone attached.
My last car was a 2011 Prius. When I sold it in 2016 to buy the Mazda, it had 15,000 on it. The buyer kept asking me if that was for real. It’s what can happen after you retire.
Is once enough? Is thrice too many? They’re doing phase 1b here, which includes us folks in the 65-74 group, but the registration site says I should talk to my doctor PA first, as I’m on blood thinners. So I’ll ring her on Monday…
Thank you, VanGo and Boo for the sites! I loved how easy the NYT site was to use! Unfortunately, it seems inaccurate: it estimated I’d be behind 440,000 people in WA state, but the state has already administered something 800,000 doses. I think the issue is that the site only asks if you have health conditions likely to cause severe COVID. The assumption is, apparently, that people with health issues putting them at high risk would get priority. Silly wabbits. In WA state, people with TWO underlying health conditions are two tiers away yet, and at the glacial pace we’re moving, we won’t get to them until late spring. Those with “only” one serious condition are at least 4 tiers down the line, maybe more. (WA still hasn’t figured out who’s in Phase 2 and what the tiers will be, let alone who’s in Phases 3 and 4.)
The NPR site directed me back to the WA Phase Finder, which merely tells me I’m not yet eligible. I think the state hotline worker was right when she said it’d be late September at the earliest.
I get how frustrated people who are eligible must be to try to even get the vaccine. I wish I were at that point.
I appreciate your trying, though! Thank you!
Agreed, bob_2 and Harald. I’m also prone to misplacing my phone.
I’ve got to get out of the apartment. Mr. and Mrs. Loud have decided to try drowning out their voices by turning up their big screen TV.
My inlaws are on blood thinners and they both have had their first shots. MIL said she didn’t even bleed, despite being on blood thinners. The needles are teeeensy tiny!
BBBoo - good to know about the tylenol. So far, no real reaction, tho my daughter said it didn’t hit her till the next day. So we shall see.
Speaking of whom, they just left and quiet reigns again. Here’s hoping for a peaceful rest of the evening.
Some erranding and other tasks got done today. Laundry is still ongoing, and tomorrow holds birdcage cleaning and loading the car with DH’s work gear. Did discover Key Lime M&Ms at Target. Yum!
shoe , will your landlord take care of the basement drainage issue? Also, how are you feeling about having moved to the Mitten? I love that state and am hoping you still like it now that you’ve seen its worst weather.
I haven’t asked yet.
You know what’s sad? It actually had not occurred to me to even bring it up.
I’m slowly coming to grips with how thoroughly I was indoctrinated as a child that anything bad was my fault, and therefore, nobody else’s problem.
But to answer the Mitten question … I ain’t sick of the snow yet!!
… and definitely won’t be for a while.
Yesterday while I was outside for irk it was snowing like an animated postcard while also being brightly, cheerfully sunny. So beautiful, my heart ached.
I love how the seasons change so swiftly. In Texas, summer dragged on endlessly and here, even the darkest depths of winter are over in a few weeks, and really, the worst of it is all over in several weeks.
The days are constantly getting longer, or shorter.
There’s always something new, it seems. (Climate wise.) In a good way. The Texas heat is just so … static.
I have a new approach to my difficulties keeping my not-always-hungry self properly fed. You see, I hate leftovers, so all those “solutions” about making a big meal in the crock pot (“just freeze the rest!”) aren’t ideal for me.
But, the idea of coming home to a hot meal that’s been simmering all afternoon is appealing. So, I have acquired an itty-bitty 2-quart slow cooker, with the plan of making little shoe-sized meals.
I just got home with a chuck roast and some red N.O.T.s (there’s fresh carrots and celery in the fridge already) and I just need to prep by searing the meat tonight. Hopefully I can adjust my usual recipe on the fly to get a good balance with smaller volumes of liquid like red wine and Wershersher sauce.
Except … I’m hungry NOW, dammit!
good to know about the tylenol. So far, no real reaction, tho my daughter said it didn’t hit her till the next day. So we shall see.
And now dr. thomas says take some Tylenol if the achies rear their ugly heads.
Except … I’m hungry NOW, dammit!
And now I am also-for pot roast of which I have no roast in the house. Do have carrots and potatoes though.
I got myself one of those itty bitty crock pots a few weeks ago and make myself overnight oatmeal in it. I wake up and can stumble out to the kitchen and have something hot without doing anything. I throw a handful of dried cranberries if I feel the need to be healthy.
Well, in the meantime, I have a small chunk of more-tender cow sitting in a quickie marinade for tonight’s dinner. My plan is cook some onion slices as my side dish, then sear up both pieces of meat in the same pan.
I also have a little tub of guacamole thawing.
I was productive enough to scoop the primary litter box, and to wash a buttload of dishes. That’s plenty for one post-irk evening!
… and speaking of the changes in seasons, even with a post-irk grocery stop, there was still enough daylight
after I got home to let the cats out for a bit. Only a month or so ago, it was pitch dark before I even clocked out!
Evening all. Soccer has been coached and refereed, the indoor session is done now, the outdoors will be starting in a couple of weeks. Got into the 40’sF today, supposed to be in the 50’s tomorrow. Garbage was picked up while I was out, so that can is back in the garage (the recyclables are still awaiting pickup).
Fettuchini has be waved by micros and consumed, so now the chore is staying awake to a ‘reasonable’ hour before heading off to bed. Long as I don’t lie down I should be able to do so.
Have read all and absorbed some, so let’s just say hugs to all and call it a night…
All y’all take care now.
shoe what I want to know is: did they call you a Yankee? (not sure where you’re originally from). When I graduated (Michigan St), my first job was in San Antonio and they all called me a Yankee. I indignantly told them that I was from the Midwest and as such, was NOT a Yankee and that Yankees are from New England. Didn’t make any difference to them. I felt a little better when they called the gent from Oklahoma a Yankee
Their opinion was that anyone not from TX was a Yankee.
I’m mostly a reader and just love this community of Mumpers. I’ll try to be better about posting from time to time. Today was a pretty good day. Went to the Fitness Center and worked out, it’s actually PT, of which I’ve been doing for almost 5-1/2 years due to my knees. I use a NuStep about 3 days a week and occasionally the Leg Press. Then watched my Spartans. The first 10 minutes were really painful to watch but then they got their butts in gear so that at the half, they were only down by 4 IU 30 MSU 26. Izzo must have used some magic during halftime because they came out firing on all cylinders and won 78-71. Next I went and walked in the snowy woods for 3 miles. Only saw ducks today, about 18, no deer. Very peaceful. Came home and made dinner: leftover chicken, sugar snap peas and crash hot potatoes. I have the Dope to thank for the potatoes. About 2 years ago I found a link to the recipe on one of the other rooms, Cafe Society IIRC, and my family and I love, love, love them! My husband asked what vegetable we were having for dinner and when I told him Sugar Snap Peas, he went all Reese Witherspoon and did a Stoop and Snap. I didn’t have the heart to tell him it’s Bend and Snap. LOL.
Harumph…well I think there’s a harumph in there somewhere. Yes us folks from New England are yankees, but Yankees are those pinstriped bastards from the Bronx.
{{{nellie}}} I’ve lived in apartments a lot over the years. Some are like yours and noisy and some are nice and quiet. I’ve found that complexes with only 1-2 BR units, no pool or playground tend to be quiet. Bonus points if all of the units are ground floor.
shoe, I’ve had a 1.5 quart crock for a few years. They are nice for a piece of chicken with vegetables around it and beans for one or as a side dish for several (1c. dried beans, 1/2 c. vegetables and / or meat, 3 c. water and any seasoning that you want. cook on low for 7+ hours, no soaking required). They are also good for side dishes for small potlucks. Even with a 5 quart, I keep the little one.
Laundry, KP and grocery shopping is done. The service tech texted me about 12:30 and said he wouldn’t make it by one and would I like to reschedule for later in the afternoon or next week? Now we’re on for next Saturday.
Chillage in the studio and trash TV slated for this evening.
shoe, I was a homeowner for years before divorce forced me to become a renter, and I still tend to think problems are my responsibility, even when they’re not. Your landlords are getting income and a handsome tax break from renting to you. Let them fix the drainage issue.
Kitten_Mitten, a Yankee is anyone who lives north of the Mason-Dixon line. I grew up in Chicagoland and was always proud to be a Yankee, or as I thought of it, The People Who Didn’t Try to Leave the Union. I have siblings who live in the South. They’re proud Yankees, too, and so are most of their Southern friends.
Red, you’re so right. I wish I could afford to buy a small house. I think that’s probably the quietest option.
Sunflower and I got Pfizer shot #1 tonight and have an appointment in 3 weeks for shot #2
I mainty my objection to capitalized Yankees being northerners.
I am a proud yankee. Grew up in Maine. My family is from New England.
A Yankee is a baseball player from a loathsome team.
