Keep a happy thought in the MMP!

I’m saving this recipe. I just got myself a 1.5qt crock pot a few weeks ago.

I’m doing a happy dance about this. :dancer:t3::man_dancing:t2::dancer:t3::man_dancing:t2:

True that. I like your lower-case-Y version. I still capitalize it, though, because that’s correct, and having taught English and history for so many years, when I try to bypass Correct, the Psycho theme music blares in my head. [Why, she wouldn’t even hurt a Y.]

Good news, indeed.

Canes won, and there was beer, so yeah. :ice_hockey: :beers:

Sunday - Mrs Bob has gone up to join her church Zoom thingy. She does it from her bed as that’s the most comfortable place for her. The bed is an adjustable one so she can sit upright and the laptop sits on a reading stand at a good angle for her.

Weather today is dry and mild +8C or so but overcast. Things are growing in the garden. I see some bulbs popping up and the grass is beginning to look as if it will soon need mowing. I must start looking for a gardener as the one we had has moved away.

I have a new Jodi Taylor, one of my most fave authors, to read and I really need to get some cleaning done in the kitchen. Lunch will be smoked salmon and scrambled egg - I have the makings of a fish pie for dinner so a fishy day.

Was going to make chicken tinga yesterday after our walk, but it got too late. Just found a slightly different recipe to do it in the slow cooker, so I’ll try that today.

Nice and sunny today. Currently 7 celsius, going up to 12 today. During our walk yesterday we ended up in shirtsleeves, so we had to carry our light jackets. Life is rough.

Still have to finish the tax papers, but that’s mostly done. Plus tackle another pile of paper. Not sure where it came from, but I think most of it will get recycled.

And I need to make something for hubby’s breakfast. Probably blueberry quick bread, since that’s his favorite.

Happy Sunday!

Ogoddammit I can’t sleep. I keep jerking awake, thinking about those :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: misplaced documents I need. What if I somehow accidentally threw them away? What if I can never get a $%@! drivers license?

I’m nibbling on some buttered Triscuits and sipping a bit of red wine (hey, I don’t need it all for the pot roast) and hoping I can conk back out for a coupla hours before the alarm goes off.

I ignore the whole Yankee/Rebel label nonsense as my family didn’t arrive in the States till the early 20th century. But I like to think that we wouldn’t have been on the side of the quitters. I have one nephew who cracks me up, tho. He affects the whole southern redneck Confederate flag-waving persona despite having been born in 1994… in Russia. (Adopted by BIL & SIL)

Just as before, it’s day after shot day and my arm feels like it was punched - no other symptoms. I decided to sleep with Mel last night, since the night before had been a short one. Wouldn’t you know it - Ziva decided to crawl out from under the bed and plant herself in the middle of my chest, purring like a small freight train and demanding skritches. Goofy cat - I finally managed to drop off to dreamland and I might have gotten 7 hours last night, so I guess that’s good.

The day has started at 19°F (that particular F is an expletive!!) and it’s supposed to stay in the 30s today. yuck. When we stopped at Aldi yesterday, I got a package of wings and I’ll be cooking them in the air fryer for supper, along with the leftover chickie-n-dumplins. And either today or tomorrow, I want to make another loaf of craisin bread to go to FL with us. Tomorrow’s supper will be Shepherd’s Pie, and we’ll leave way early on Tuesday.

It’s looking like SIL will possibly get his shots soon so the base facilities can reopen and he can go back to work. He doesn’t have a feel for a timeline yet, but it’s still a good sign. Except it means I’ll be toddler wrangling again, which means I’ll have to get up early again. Yeah, I know, I’ve mostly been getting up early anyway, but soon it won’t be optional. So hush! :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, here’s hoping…

And thus begins another day at FairyChatEstates. Happy Sunday!!

BBBoo - here’s a BP question for you: Does it matter when you’re taking your BP if the cuff is snug or a little loose when you start? Normally, I snug it up, but today, it was a bit looser, and my systolic showed a wee bit higher than it has been. Then a bit later, I did it again with a snugger start, and it was back to the level I’ve been getting lately. Coincidence or expected? Some medical stuff is a mystery to me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed again this mornin’. ‘Tis Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 66 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is virtual deheathenization followed by Sunday N.O.L. which shall be Couch Chikin, steamed baby carrots, sallit, and rolls. YUM! Other than that, who knows what might or might not happen. Ah, the joys of bein’ a retired drain on society.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Good morning All. :grinning:

Boo is your son with Beaumont or Henry Ford? My Doc is at Beaumont and my husband’s used to be, well actually he was with the Oakwood system, but when they were taken over by Beaumont, they cut ties with MSU meaning he couldn’t have MSU students interning with him, so he switched to Henry Ford. Long story to say my husband received his first dose of vaccine Wednesday but I am yet to be scheduled.

I had plans to get up early and walk to church for 8am mass but the bed with flannel sheets and quilt is so comfy this morning that I’ve been catching up with Instagram, the Golden Ratio on YouTube and now you fine folks. At some point I’ll have to get up and, as Swampy says, deheathenate, will also watch the Lady Spartans and take a walk. Sup will likely be spaghetti and meatballs with salit.

Enjoy the day All.

It was the fit. That will happen if the cuff is ‘too big’ which is how the machine reads it if it is loose. Waiting a few minutes and doing it again was just right. If you keep losing weight you’ll have to switch to a small adult cuff. :slightly_smiling_face:

Off to my Hattie day. You’all behave yourself now.

Morning all. Ended up staying awake until after midnight, so it was 8:30am before I arose. Newspaper has been brought in and met me with the cheery news that due to the shortage of vaccines no new appointments will be taken at the hospital until 22 March… I’ll see if there are other sources out there, but once again Ali-bama shows it’s legendary in-efficiency…

On the other hand, it’s 45F already heading for 57F with lots of sunshine, so that is nice. And just because we can’t have nice things, it’s supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow…

Kitten Mitten, we need to establish a MMP name for you. I’d suggest Cat Glove or since baby foxes are called ‘kits’, perhaps foxglove. What do all y’all think?

BBBoo, enjoy Hattie Day.

Vango, being a long-time, long-suffering Cleveland Indians fan, I endorse your definition of Yankee.

OK, need to do some stuff and Sunday Dinner will be courtesy of Red Robin (Yum!). Everybody have a good Sunday.

Good morning! I woke up way too early (achy joints) and just now gave up trying to get back to sleep. I planned to walk today, but it’s raining, and truth be told, I’m getting bored with walking. I’ve been everywhere within 4 miles, I think. However, maybe that’s just early morning, not-enough-sleep Nellie talking.

shoe, hope you got some more Zzzzz. I think the odds of you accidentally throwing away the documents are very small. Could you have put them in a different envelope or file folder? That’s happened to me. I’m looking for a manila envelope, and the papers are in a white envelope.

Bob, what kind of fish goes in a fish pie?

2bob, I, too, am curious about your fish pie. As a kid, during Lent, my mom used to make tuna pot pie that wasn’t exactly my favorite, but I’m thinking, with upgrading the fish involved, it may be worth another shot. Then again, your fish pie may be a whole 'nother kind of deliciousness.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Other than the usual Sunday chores, there isn’t much slated except for reading and playing around in the studio. The snow is beginning to melt and should be totally gone by Tuesday at the latest.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Just a thought for those of you waiting to find out about shot schedules - my county health dept had a way to sign up for notifications of when appointments are available and I get emails letting me know. Perhaps you can check for something similar where you live, either county or state level? It might be easier than constantly checking multiple places or relying on the media to clue you in.

I did a quick grocery run and now I’m just bored out of my tree. I also found out that FIL’s dentist appt isn’t Weds like FCD told me, but it’s not till Mar 1. So I don’t know why we’re leaving here on Tuesday, but there ya go.

Fish pie is made from a supermarket fish pie mix - salmon, cod and haddock I think. I make a butter, flour and milk sauce, with scantlings and English mustard mixed in and then add the fish and more milk, then some chives, and frozen peas and corn. Topped with cheesy mash and baked in the oven.

There is enough for four so we have it two days in a row.

The church I’ve been attending has the kit thing too. It’s an ELCA Lutheran church, as I’ve left the Episcopalian congregation I was a member of. Long, sad story.

Our stay in FL just got 2 days longer, dammit. FCD told me his dad’s dental appt was on Weds and he wants to take is dad because the dentist is in Jacksonville (don’t ask…) However, I just found out the appt is on Mar 1, so instead of leaving next Sunday, we have to hang around till Tues. Dammit.

So I guess I’ll need to pack some yarn, or maybe I’ll just buy some when we get there so I’ll have something to do. I’m going to help my MIL with some big chores around the house and run errands with her, but I’ll still have too much idle time.

Plus we all know how much I love Florida… ( :arrow_left: sarcasm)

Maybe I’ll download a couple of books to my tablet - that will help, too.

Quiet day today. No ladders involved. The dog is being extra needy. Ya know, it’s hard to use a 'puter mouse when your elbow is constantly bumped by doggie wanting skritches. And he seems to think spring is coming as he’s starting to shed his under coat.

I don’t believe him.

FCM Good luck in Florida.

2Bob That fish pie sounds good.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Gordie has left his mark in the dog park, the bathroom and kitchen are clean, and I’m about to run the roller suck.

Bob_bob, sound like (Sea)Shepard’s Pie. And tasty.

FCM, that sucks. :frowning:

Also a good chice. And welcome!
