Keeping track in the MMP

I agree most definitely. It’s easy for me to see the answer from here, especially since I don’t have any sort of emotional investment. But it does sound like Cerby is beyond help.

I’m trying to fix our hall terlit - the flapper seal is bad so it empties gradually, then refills every 15 minutes or so. Unfortunately, it’s a 4" unit, so the whole thing has to be replaced, and I don’t have the strength to unscrew the stoopit assembly myself. The tank is on the bathroom floor, and when FCD gets home, he and I should be able to finish the fix. It shouldn’t be this difficult - I suspect when we installed it initially, someone tightened the crap outta it… so someone will have to help untighten it.

Meanwhile, I’ll just read.

I did get to Food Lion and Aldi and I’ve got a poke loin in the slow cooker for another batch of pulled poke, since the last batch was so small. I forgot to get more string cheese for the toddler. Dammit. So I have to keep FCD from eating the last few that we have until I can get to the store again. But, as I said, I’ll just read for now.

On Friday night I finished the second part of my LEGO jazz quartet:

Next up will be the drummer/drum kit, which look like they could be a little complicated (but nothing compared to the pianist/piano, which will be last). I might start them this evening.

Yesterday was a good day. It was great to see my BFFs for the first time this year! We had lunch at their place, then went to the jewelry store. I got some costume earrings at 50% off:

I also got a “vintage” 10K white gold ring with a mystic topaz stone:

That one was supposed to be only 30% off, but the saleswoman accidentally gave me 50%. When she noticed/commented on her error I offered to let her start over, but she waved it off and said “oh well.”

On the way back to my BFF’s place we stopped at a Michael’s so I could buy a frame I’d been wanting, then I hung out in their kitchen for a while and talked (and maybe ate a homemade cookie or two  ). I got back home shortly after 7pm, eight hours after I’d left the house. The time with my friends was awesome, and I almost decided to stay for dinner, but it was good to spend the evening with Bailey.

I’ve spent most of today so far catching up on volunteer-related administrative stuff, but now it’s 1:30 – feels like 12:30  – and time for lunch. There are two errands I’d been planning to run this afternoon, but it’s overcast and cold and a “wintry mix” is going to start soon and I don’t wanna. Luckily both errands can wait, so I’ve decided that they will.

Excellent.

The local golf course adopted a rescue border collie, goose problem solved. It lived with the course superintendant. The purchase was accounted for as a fixed asset, being part of property, plant and equipment.

When I came out of mass, I was pretty surprised to see the car covered in snow, I hadn’t known that was in the forecast. It’s all melted now but we’re supposed to get more tomorrow. Temp is holding between 30 and 34.

Oopsie That is a beautiful ring and bonus that the clerk made an oopsie in your favor and was willing to overlook it.

Only 4 more automatic bids to be decided then the Selection Show after the Big Ten championship. I’m rooting for TX A&M because one of our Spartans is on the team this year, second reason is that I don’t agree with the way Nate Oats has handled the situation with his star player who reportedly retrieved a gun for another player, which was then used by a third person to kill someone. Also watching some short track speedskating. Yes, I’m a channel flipper. Hubs hates that so we generally watch in different rooms.

Will probably see you all on the flip side. Stay safe.

Poor cerby. I’m sorry all of you are going through this.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, stopped and got a McN.O.L., returned to da cave, et and then accomplished nappage. ‘Tis been a rainy afternoon but rain has stopped for the nonce. The biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road to get that done since TWPTB say it shall rain again soon. Chillage now continues. I was surprised at the number of folks in the church this mornin’ given that DST happened.

sari looks like you might be out of options with Cerby. It would be wonderful if a solution was found, but if not, then like others have said, you have done your absolute best to give him a good home.

Still waiting for FCD to get home. I did put hot water and Dawn into the shop vac and the big bucket that we used for the diesel clean-up. Tomorrow, I’ll rinse them out properly and set then to dry.

The poke is smelling yum! I’m thinking it might be tonight’s supper.

Back to my book…

We’re doing a bunch of tasks/financials/tidying today. My lovely wife will spend some time helping her sister with taxes while I do more tasks/tidying. If I have time and interest, I’ll continue outlining a conference presentation I’m giving in April. I upped my Ozempic dose to the intermediate step and I’m tolerating it okay. No A1c until June, I think.

metal mouse, I didn’t have to change my car clock since I didn’t change it last fall. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the ring and the bass player oopsie.

I made it to CVS three minutes before they closed for lunch. Yay me! Sunday chores are done, Sunday dinner being eaten and I’m puttering in the studio after KP.

I cleaned, I did laundry(sheets and whites), I napped. Since my bell pepper was one of those with a tiny pepper in it, I planted a few of the seeds, to see if they grow. Worst case, I have 3 small pots of mud. Best case, I have 50 bell peppers. Or since when I was sweeping the spilled dirt back into the pots, a stray Gordie hair went in, I may end up growing 50 terriers.
Also on a hunch I looked up “meat claws” on Da Jungle. I was rightly disapointed that “Frequently bought together” didn’t include a bear costume.

I like the jewelry.

Happy Sunday! 'Tis a rainy day here. I know you’re all shocked–shocked–by that news. Today is my lazy day, though I took out the trash, watered plants and organized a bin. My son called, so he gets to be line leader and Star of the Week. It’s a sad thing when a parent has to try to stimulate a little sibling rivalry. I mean, where did I go wrong?

sari, I looked up Trazodone because I thought one of my son’s dogs is on it, and I wondered if he and DIL should be concerned. (Turns out the dog is on Prozac.) All I could find was that it can help ease aggression, but I’m no vet, so that means nothing. However, this bit gave me pause:

What are the side effects of trazodone in dogs?

Trazodone is generally well tolerated by dogs. Sedation, increased hunger, behavioural disinhibition (when dogs do not think about the consequences of their actions)

Say what? Dogs think about the consequences of their actions? Where are these dogs? Enrolled at Harvard Obedience School?

I hope taking Cerby off Trazodone is the answer. The problem is whether you can trust it. You and your son (and Ripple!) must have been horrified and alarmed by today’s attack, and of course you don’t want to risk another, possibly worse one. OTOH, I know what a loving and compassionate dog owner you are, so of course you don’t want to leave a stone unturned. Would it be possible to leave him at the vet’s for a few days to see if no Trazodone helps? If you decide to put him down, please don’t feel guilty. Cerby has been blessed to have you caring for him. You’ve given him a better life than he could have had anywhere else.

lily, that’s nice of your lovely wife to do that. She must be a kind and patient person. Kind of like you!

Oo! That would be SO COOL! Especially if they were miniature Gordies… :purple_heart: :dog2: :purple_heart:

Wifey is filling out her spreadsheet for our taxes. I’m trying to find all my medical expense records, which I put in a ‘safe place’, (somewhere), and staying out of the line of fire.

Oh, we had steak and lobster for dinner last night. I haven’t had lobster in about 40 years. It was good, but not life-altering.

The Lego jazz musicians are cool. I’ve wanted to get a Lego train set for a long time, but I haven’t any place to put it.

Good luck with your puppy mill, Doggio.

I hope taking Cerby off of trazadone helps.

Evening all. Did manage to go to the gym for awhile and pedal away a few calories, need it since the Red Robin Burger and fries added more than a little to my waistline. May have to drop them from the rotation, the cost for the food and beer was more than a lot of steak places charge, so I may have to find a different burger place (Wahlburgers is an option). We’ll see.

doggio, good luck on growing peppers and terriers.

lily, taxes and presentations…sounds like a Sunday to me…

Oopsie, interesting pieces and some retail therapy is not a bad idea, but doing it with friends is priceless.

FCM, hope the toilet fix went well.

OK, need to get some dinner and call Brother to see how he’s doing, then TV and Internettin’ to close out the day.

PS–Been adding You Tube channels to my collection, one I can recommend to all is “Girl with the Dogs”, about a pet groomer and the dogs/cats she works with. Only 3-minute episodes but if you like dogs (and the occasional cat), it’s a lot of fun. Girl With The Dogs - YouTube

Terlit is fixed. Some skeezeball stole the gasket and the tool from the package, which is why it was so damned hard to remove the old guts. Unfortunately, it’s too far to Lowe’s to go get a proper replacement - not their fault about the skeezeball - tho if I’d checked the box sooner, I could have gotten another. But FCD and I worked together and managed to get it done. 'Cause we’s engineers and we’s SMRT!!!

I also remade the bed with fresh sheets. Tomorrow, I’ll launder the dirty ones.

MIL called, worried about forecast winds for her Tuesday flight. I swear, that woman worries about the weirdest things! Waaaaaay back when Florida first had the lottery, she worried that if she had a winning ticket, someone would try to kidnap Daughter to get the winnings. Then some years later when Daughter was on a cruise around FL and the Bahamas and there was a hurricane off South America, she thought we should call Daughter and have her tell the captain about the hurricane. I wish I was making a joke here.

Forecast for Tues is winds at 16 MPH gusting to 36. I wouldn’t take a Cessna out in that, but I think a 737 can manage it.

Last night’s lack of sleep is catching up with me. I think I may toddle back to bed very soonly.

It’s cold, the hockey sucked all weekend, and I somehow managed to Neti Pot my Wisconsin Old Fashioned earlier. Everything else was good, though.

Considering Gordie was 60lbs., “Miniature” would mean 50 regulation sized terriers.

16 is just below the max crosswind for a C172.

I am so sorry for everyone involved. How is your poor son’s arm today? I know that whatever you do, you will do it with love and compassion.

I remember DST starting in CA and my mother was NOT very happy about it. I lived with it for the next 6 years and then joined the military. When you get moved around all the time, you don’t really pay attention to if the clocks change. I don’t remember suffering with DST in Okinawa and I was there for a couple of years. I got discharged to Hawaii, no DST, then spent 5 more years in CA before moving to a more sensible place. (When it comes to clocks, it’s pretty nutz out here ATM.)

Which is why I made it known that I was vaxxed. Plus, don’t tell anyone, my side of the room is upwind of their side. So, the breeze flowing through the open window over me spreads my cooties through the room on it’s way out the windows on their side of the room. (I’ve made it a point to get to class early to get my window spot long enough that now it is “mine” be default.) Yes, I am easily amused.

Very pretty, and I’m glad you not only found a ring you liked, you got a good deal too!

I used to have to go to training classes in Flagstaff. The motel overlooked a golf course and the lake always had geese. The golf course AND the sidewalk next to the golf course had signs up forbidding dogs. Almost every evening, someone thought their dog would like to play on the golf course and would be mobbed and almost pecked to death. Watching this was the high point of the training sessions.

My car clock doesn’t change, but my stoopid smart phone did as did my alarm clock because I can’t figure out how to disable the automatic change if it is even possible on the clock. The phone is new and I didn’t think to disable it until today.

I noticed that it was time for an oil change in my car and while hubs was scheduling it, he noticed that it had last been changed in November. He couldn’t figure out how I’d managed to put 5,000 miles on my car in 5 months, but then looked again and saw that it was November 2021.

I got a bag of Purina One kitty kibble in one of the surplus boxes a couple of months ago. I tried it on Lil Miss Snarf and Barf and she was puking before she was finished crunching, so it got shoved to the back of the critter pantry and forgotten about. Today I took it to my friend and she seemed happy to have it.

Then I came home and made more butter shamrocks. I am sick of making butter shamrocks, I must have been really wasted to agree to make 12 dozen butter shamrocks with only 12 molds. It is a super PITA and if I count in my time, I am losing money on this deal. No more butter molds with parts. Ever.

Hubs is bottling beer tomorrow morning and then I will take the kitchen over to start on the cream cheese. I started the feta today and as expected, the goat milk was amazing. I have to beg and plead most things to curdle properly “ohhh, is 74F too cold for you, how is 75F? Well, fuck, toss that batch and start over at 74.5”.

Throw a little rennet and heat at goat milk and it says “You want curds? I’ll show you curds! Here, hold my beer!!!”

doggio If’n you do grow some terriers, can I get one?

Fart fest!!! Eat lotsa beans before your next class. Crop dust those anti vax nutjobs.

ETA: broccoli? Whatever brings the toots.

You is SO smart! Hardboiled eggs and asparagus for breakfast on Wednesday!!!

This is quite literally what feeding a ball python is like.
“Ermegerd the humidity changed by 001% I won’t be eating for a month now.”

As opposed to corn snakes, which are pretty much living dumpsters and if it can be shoved into their gaping maw, will be consumed.

It’s odd to own one of each.
