I think Redondo is finalized, Merc. And El Torito sounds nice to me. I’ll try to arrange for my party of four to arrive about half an hour early.
Oh, and… BUMP!

Bumpity, cough cough, bumpity, cough cough, over the hill it goes…
The latest Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention will be held June 17th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, 700 W. 32nd St. (near USC). The featured film this month will be the re-make of Planet of the Apes. See some of the costumes, props and masks that were used. Actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Krull, a gorilla) will be on-stage at 2:00 PM.
Also at the convention at 1:00 PM will be makeup artist and creature-maker Stan Winston to talk about his work in the Jurassic Park and Predator movies and the upcoming A. I.: Artificial Intelligence.
Plus, there will be dozens of dealers selling comics, Japanimation tapes, toys and all kinds of good shit.
Admission is $7.00.
This convention has been held every month in L.A. for years. Past guests have included the late Bob Kane, creator of Batman; director Tim Burton; the late Jack Kirby (which turned out to be his next-to-last public appearance); the producers of Batman: The Animated Series (the pilot episode with the Man-Bat was premiered there); the producers of Independence Day (convention guests were the first fans to see the alien attack sequence); writer Ray Bradbury; and Ray Harryhausen (creator of special-effects for the Sinbad movies and several dinosaur features of the 50s, 60s and 70s).
I’m going and I hope to see some of you there.
Darn it Shayna, I was going to see if you guys wanted to catch Bridget Jones before the dopefest!
I’m ready to see it again.
Ah, well. Drinks beforehand it is. Ready for another French Martini? I’d like to see if I can buzz out both you and Thomas this time!

Woo! Only a week away! I cant wait! Work is going to drag so much for me next week, i just know it! Anyway, it’s a good thing this was planned for next weekend. I am so broke, but i will be getting paid by then. Woo!
Including the ever-so-illegal Tracy Lords porn.
Not that I’d know about this, of course…
iuiouo8gi87rj, i tells ya, iuiouo8gi87rj
How close is that to the Coconut Teazer in Hollywood? I’m going there at aroung 7PM for a show.
My mom used to live in Redondo Beach, and it took me about 20 minutes to get there on the 405 from West L.A. It takes me about 20 minutes to get to Hollywood from here on surface streets. Depending on traffic, I’d guess it would take 30 minutes to an hour.
Dumb question; some of you know each other, but how will we know whom to look for etc.?
“No Serlin Zone” signs will be posted accordingly.
And if you see the most dashing, handsome, debonair person there - it’s probably me.
Esprix
Tell us what you’re going to wear, and we’ll look out for someone who fits that description.
Ok. This just in…
I might be there!
I have Fridays off, so if I can convince my friend to drive down with me, I’m in! I’m totally not looking forward to a 7 hour drive, but you all are worth it…
I’ll keep you posted.
::gets on his hands and kness and tugs on Rasa’s cape::
PPPPPWWWWWEEEEAAASSSEEEE be there!
::gives Rasa the puppy eyes::
Mindwaves received. Actually, every so often I come by the boards and do a search based on my screenname, to catch any threads where I may be addressed or whatever (or even my namesake, as the case was a few weeks back) and would feel a need to respond. So here I am.
School is out for me the end of this week, but not DeathLlama. However, he proposed in Redondo Beach and it is a lovely area. I’ll run it by him and see if the planets and schedules align enough for our appearance.
Catch ya later, gang!
Yup. I’m bringing the old sign (since I’m too lazy to make a new one). If you wanna know what it looks like, it’s exactly like the image at the top of this page.
