Labour day: I'm drinking wine, eating cheese, watching Cops, and refuse to do anything else.

Today I cleaned out my garage (hurray middle age!), cooked some pork ribs and drank a bunch of beer. Typical Monday for me

I did some housecleaning and some homework, and then worked on art projects, including helping to organize an art show. Hey, it’s Labor Day, you’re supposed to work, right?

It’s late, I wanna get plastered.

I did a couple of hikes at Crater Lake today. First I took the Boundary Springs trail to check out the headwaters of the Rogue River. Then after lunch I hiked to the summit of Mount Scott and was rewarded with this view

This morning (OK, technically yesterday morning - I haven’t gone to bed yet) I picked about 30 pears off the tree in my back yard. Those were the ones I could reach without having to get out the ladder. My plan is to make pear crumble out of them sometime this week. If that goes well, then I’ll drag out the ladder, pick some more, and try making some pear preserves.

Other than that I made red beans and rice from scratch to have for lunches next week along with the cole slaw I made from scratch on Saturday (both are yummy.) I bottled some Arnold Palmers with the probiotic lemonade I had made, but I only had green tea at the time, so I used that - turned out pretty tasty. And then I played some games on the computer and watched tv. The last thing I did after running the dishwasher was put some oatmeal to soak overnight for cooking in the morning. I’m challenging myself to see how frugally I can feed myself for the next three weeks or so. Right now I’m planning 3 meals a day with snack/dessert and it’s running me under $25 a week. It has been fun dragging out the cookbooks and finding recipes - some old favorites I had forgotten about as well as new ones.

A very short trip to the shore being both my entire vacation and over, I cut the lawn & unpacked on Sunday.

On Monday, I managed to find some grapes, some cherry tomatoes, 2 different kinds of cheese, some crackers, some brushcetta, and a decent white table wine.
I must say that there really is nothing like spending lunch with old friends outside in the afternoon. :stuck_out_tongue:

“Vegetarian? No. Perhaps Hedonitarian. That’s not a word? Hmmm. Shame.”
