Lazy, Drunken MMP [merged threads, edited title]

Hello MMP! I’m here at my favorite Mexican restaurant indulging in some… Tortilla chips

Not much else to report. Back later after lunch and a nap.

ETA: ** gotti**, I’m so sorry. Kaiser is a bitch.

So sorry, gotti.

I got back a bit ago from lunch with wife and Rugrat. I’sa happy camper right now.

I am posting from the Tiger residence and a silly yellow dog is snoring on the floor in front of me. When he’s awake he follows me everywhere. It’s pretty clear that he remembers, and still madly adores, me. Awwwww.

It’s a long trip! And my first flight was delayed by an hour, thanks to a computer issue that ended up with them rebooting the plane, or something like that. Seriously, they turned the whole plane off for a few minutes and then started it up again. It worked. I ended up barely making my connection in Phoenix after that flight was delayed as well, but otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten here yesterday. The airline people were unusually awesome; they kept me updated on what was going on and I ended up being moved up to first class so I could be first off the plane. Woo! Apparently I had the tightest connection of anybody on the plane, on top of the departure gate for my second flight was a mile away. That settles it, I am going to schedule longer layovers from now on.

PUPPIES! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Whoa… afternoon already. I tried to post earlier, but was having trouble getting here.

Aw, the boxer pups are so cute, BBBBBobbio! And I’m sorry about the rumor mongerer at your job, FCM; good thing that your boss is understanding. Yay for Snowbunny’s vacation, and please tell you Mom I said hi and I’m thinking of her!! Sending healing vibes your way, ContagiousRosie; hope you’ll start feeling better soon!

I know I’m missing folks - everyone hang in there. One more day till the weekend!

Paella is indeed the correct spelling and Kaiser, in spite of being a male word, is a bitch. With my apologies to female dogs.

{{{{{{{{{gotti}}}}}}}}}}

I can’t honestly say that I like my new nickname . . . :p:p:D

Feel better soon ContagiousRosie. I dunno, it has a nice ring to it.

Sorry about your friend gotti. He, his family, DH, you and all his friends are in my thoughts in prayers. Kaiser can bite my big ol’ bear behind!

Yay for Vunderkind visit BBBobbio and cute puppehs!

Hope everything turns out ok from the MRI puggy.

Ummm… everybody else, whatever it is, I hope it’s all good in the end. Or better. Ok, at least no worse.

I hate work less today.

Ok, time to ummm… do sump’n productive I guess. Like, wash that pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.

Later Y’all!

So sorry about your friend, gotti. :frowning:

Feel better soon, ContagiousRosie and may it go from being contagious germs to contagious laughter REALLY REALLY soon.

Sounds like fun, BooFae!

Sorry it’s so hot, Dotty. I can’t even imagine.

Sounds like maybe you’re happy to be at Casa Tigs, snowbunny. Glad the connections worked out!

Mmmmm, I’d like some paella too, please.

That recipe sounds yummy, taxi. I’ll add it to the blog in just a moment.

Glad you’re hating the work less, swampy.

Me? I’m pining for Friday afternoon.

I’m eating cinnamon goldfish grahams. And knitting. I’m going to make the other handwarmer (it goes very quickly with the kind of yarn I’m using). And i guess I should eat something dinnerlike.

Back later.

GT

Another stoopit day that ran way too long. We went to Bad Chinese and now I’m getting caught up on my funnies and stuff. Hugs all around. Welcome back to Merrylande, snowbunny! Anybody want to give me a footrub? Or chocolates? Or a hot tub?

Is that asking too much?

I expect tomorrow’s 12:15 meeting will run way past the 2 hour time limit. Working late on Firday really would suck. Having to go in on Saturday (which I’m expecting) will suck too.

Where’s that chocolate, dammit!! :frowning:

I’ll go sulk over there…

:: Quickly shoves good quality chocolate to **FCM **through the CD slot::

I hope your days start improving soon, FCM.

I’m sorry you’re still feeling poorly, rosie. Here’s hoping the meds kick in quickly.

Meh, I’m tired. I’ve got to leave soon to drop my son at driver’s ed. Then I’ll rush home and make something for dinner. I don’t know what, yet.

I’m sorry about your friend, gotti.

Hugs and smooches to all.

About 5 minutes before water aerobics was over tonight they hauled us out of the pool for a tornado warning. We stood dripping in the hall for about 25 minutes. Since we were adults, we were free to leave the building, but we weren’t allowed to go into the locker rooms to get our stuff. :p:smack:

Here’s another YMCA mystery that maybe somebody can explain to me… They’ve recently installed a numeric keypad on the door for ‘increased security purposes’… And… the code is posted on the mirror inside the locker room and was up there two weeks before the keypad was put on. Also, if you forget the code, as I forgot to press * tonight, they will just immediately tell you what it is so that you can get in. Will somebody please tell me the purpose of this highly efficient security measure??:dubious:

Survived work. I went and watched my friend DC play hockey(It’s some sort of hockey season! W00T!!!111one1).

Get better soon, ContagiousRosie!

FCM, I hope things look up soon. : emails Godiva.choc file :

Sorry about your friend, gotti.

Pie, the purpose of that highly efficient measure is to Get That Moron Off Our Back. Someone Higher Up decided it was needed, see, and they’re high up enough or bothersome enough that it Had To Be Done, but the locals don’t agree so they’ve pretty much neutralized any additional security. Take into account that the measures Someone wanted probably would have meant dialogues like:
“oh, I’m sorry, I forgot the code.”
“I need photo ID”
ID provided… if it isn’t in the locker
“your mother’s maiden name?”
name provided
“the last four digits of your SSN?”
digits provided
“the code is *1234”
They’re just skipping the bothersome questions.

It’s the passive-agressive version of when Philip V would send to the Navarrese orders that were illegal, and they actually answered “it’s against the law, we obey but we can’t do it.”

My last project included some 50 hours worth of programmer work in order to implement something similar, a pretty tool which provided the managers with a way to bullshit the people in finance; the people in finance completely ate it up, they were the ones saying “this is not acceptable unless we get the bullshit.” For some reason they preferred made-up numbers to actual answers. Whatever makes 'em happy, aye?

 bureaucracy
And folks wonder why I don’t want to be in middle management

Whee! It’s finally FIRDAY!!!

I forgot to comment on BooFae’s vacation, which sounds like they’re having a great time. I hope the kitties are forgiving when they return home, though.

Nava, what is a chair bed?! LOL That’s from several posts ago, btw, I had forgotten that I wanted to ask about it. And it’s strange that there is stuff that you can get in the US that you can’t get in Europe, which I totally don’t understand why.

I am only partially caffeinated, folks… please forgive me! My office, fortunately, will (again) be quiet today - folks are working from home or in training. Then I’ll probably leave a bit early to go walk in the water again. I’m really enjoying that, and that’s a good thing, because exercise and me don’t usually go together.

Have a great Friday all.

I slept a reasonable number of hours! Yay!

Sofa bed: a sofa that unfolds into a bed.

(Arm)chair bed: an armchair that unfolds into a bed. Like this one.

Congratulations on getting enough sleep, gt! Sleeping well is a wonderful thing.

Good morning, Mumpers! I slept well, too.

TGIF!!! This has been a long week for me. They’ve only half-assed fixed the Air Conditioning, so it only gets up to 80° now.

Mr Rebo’s twin grandniece and nephew are coming to dinner tonight, before they head off into the wild blue yonder. Well, the boy is joining the Air Force, the girl is going to start school down in Galveston very soon. She’s going to be a marine biologist! This is their farewell dinner from us.

I’m fixing grilled pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, asparagus (the boy’s favorite) and corn ('cause the girl won’t eat anything green.) And brownies for dessert. Should be a fun evening. I can’t believe they’re all grown!

Have a great day, everyone. And may the sickies feel better soon!

And another TGIF coming at you raht cheer! I am finding it harder and harder to get through the work week. But this, too, shall pass.

{{{{gotti}}}}

Get better, rosie! You’ve had more than your share of teh sick lately.

pie, glad you escaped the tornado. I saw where there were quite a few yesterday.

Speaking of weather, we had a humdinger last night around 11:00. Mega lightning and plenty of thunder as follow-up. At one point I got up to look out the window because there was so much flickering, I thought something was on fire.

Sure hope this day goes fast.

Tupug

Friday., meh. I’m more of a T.G.I.M guy.

Rebo, sounds like a great dinner.
