I ended up at Subway for lunch because it was easier. We then went out for dinner as I need to grocery shop and I could not get my brain into gear to figure out anything to make for supper out of what we had other than sammichs which mr ems didn’t want.
Now I am in jammies and drinking wine:D

Sort of like the Halloween Carnivals in grade school, or the Prom at Catholic High, which I did not attend because they were going to lock us in until midnight.
Man, I thought an Orthodox Yom Kippur service was bad!
I want the Jewish smilie back!
Took kitties to vet, got up to date on shots. Also found they have ear mites, poor things. That’s easily taken care of. What shook me up was the vet checking teeth. Dresden’s teeth, all good and fangy. Murphy’s teeth, practically non-existent. He even wiggled one and it came right out.:eek::( My poor little baby kitty; they are only 4 years old, and they’ve always had plenty of crunchy food and water, as well as wet food twice a day. Well, plus cold-cuts whenever daddy makes sammiches.
But my poor little kitty!! He said she had…rats, can’t remember the name, but basically her immune system thought her teeth were the enemy and attacked them, basically melted them from the inside out.
Even though the one he wiggled out bled just a little, she didn’t fuss really, and I’ve never noticed her not eating hard food. I just wanted to cry!
He said that at this point in their evolution house cats don’t need their teeth for much of anything anymore. He said their front teeth are for slashing and ripping, and that they basically swallow their food whole no matter what, even harder stuff, so having no teeth isn’t a big deal. I regularly see and hear her crunching on the kibble; she definitely likes it, hasn’t shown sign of pain that I’ve ever seen <and I’m a helicopter cat mom, lol> But I still want to cry, poor baby.
Mites, pfft. We can handle the mites. Got meds, realized that I can also get stuff to prevent them and/or get rid of them pretty easily in the future at any pet store. Just gonna make sure Murph gets lots of loving.
And gonna start calling her Toothless. :p:p
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 84 which is practically frigid for August in these parts. Also a sixty percent chance of afternoon rain/tstorms. We shall see. Today’s plans include major pool time with a couple friends comin’ to hang out.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy has suddenly gotten very vocal, so I guess it wants to be fed.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
awww, Tao, poor Murphy kitteh. Give her scritches from me and head butts from Smokey
It’s so humid out I cannot see through the windows for the condensation. I AM STAYING INDOORS TODAY

I am back home and feeling a little bit better. It’s so dreary and I am dreadfully tired. I wish the sun was shining. It’s actually a little bit chilly today.
The dudes just got here to pull up the wet carpet downstairs and my grandparents don’t want it removed. They don’t get a choice in the matter, though, because the paneling is already moldy and I don’t want wet, moldy carpet making people nor dogs sick in the house.
I have been productive! I went over to OYKW’s place and mowed his yahd. Well, the front yahd anyways. BTW, I told him he did not have to come with me as it’s just easier for one person IMO. He has that thick carpet grass stuff (St. Augustine?) and apparently it rained some overnight. I got the front done but the back was really, really, really wet and as thick as the grass is, there was no way to mow it until it dries, so I gave up. If the rain does hold off today, I may go back late afternoonish and mow the backyahd.
In the meantime, whilst in productive mode, I have a cake in the oven that shall be frosted with chawklit pee-can icin’ just cause I want cake. This has caused much excitement for OYKW. It takes so little.
Good morning! It was only 64 here this morning and went I ran for coffee a little bit ago it was only 72 which feels amazing after 113. I should only be 95 today as well which is good.
Up and I have worked out and complained the entire time. Ran for coffee and I am eating oatmeal while mr ems hits the shower then I will. Plans for the day include matinee showing of the new Bourne movie, Lowes for a new sprinkler attachment thingy and then we are going to the local gun range so mr ems can register for the concealed carry class. I don’t like guns but he wants to do it so being the good wife I am I won’t stop him.
Mmmmmmmm coffee…
swampy - just make sure OYKW “appreciates” you for the cake
Hmph.
Cooking is fun.
Mowing the lawn is work!
Make sure you get appreciated for mowin’ da lawn!
Thank you for the kitty-hugs; Dresden says ‘thanks!’ and Murph says ‘ok-you-keep-doing-that-while-I-sulk-over-here-in-the-corner’.
Dresden-kitty is back to ‘normal’; Murphy kitty is depressed. Just lying there staring out the window. Last night she barely moved; very unusual for her. I am sure the vaccines are just kicking her butt a bit. She is eating <the soft food anyway>; hopefully the mite medicine will make her and Dres feel better, eventually. Right now they of course hate it. It’s cold!!
Back to using the indoor-outhouse; last night our toilet decided to stop up again, and this morning I noticed that MrTao using the kitchen sink was causing the tub to back up. Also smells like sewage. <sigh> And of course, it’s the weekend. Why doesn’t this happen during the week when we can actually get hold of the rental agency, argh!!
In good news, the auto guys only kept our car two weeks this time :dubious:, and we should be getting it back Monday. Sometime, Monday. I still think MrTao is gettin’ taken for rides with this thing, or maybe the car is; I feel that if we got it back and noticed there was an extra 1500 miles on the vehicle, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Ok, time to caffeinate. I know there’s good news in here somewhere, just not awake enough to see it.
In case you’ve ever wondered. this is a typical Mensan conversation
swampy, MAIL ME SOME CAKE!!1!!! I got milk so I don’t need that.
I took my kitchen knives for sharpening this morning, so nobody better piss me off. Just sayin.
Gentle kitteh hugs {{{{kittehs}}}
Howdy, all! Been busy busy today, building the display structure for my texting mitts. I’m hoping to take it all over to the store next weekend. First plan was a rotating 6-sided display, but it was way too complicated to build easily. Next idea was something like a stand-mounted mirror, but that was too small an area. What we’ve settled on is a folding screen with the main area 2’ wide and the side sections 1’ wide. The mitts will hang on 4’ tall panels, and the display mitts will be mounted on top. I think it’ll look pretty cool!
**FCD **is all psyched about me coming to work with him. He seems pretty confident that it’ll happen, so I could be re-employed on Sep 5. I’m pretty sure I’m ready, altho I’ll miss being a slug at will. The extra $$$ will be nice - maybe some of the cruises that we’d like to do will become affordable now. One can hope…
Oh, and I’d like some cake too - I’ll trade ya a coupla rice krispy treats!!!
Anyway, Happy Saturday!
My big project for this weekend is almost done. I’m divesting myself of 16 years of model railroad magazines. I bothered to Freecycle them, so someone is actually coming for them instead of heading to the landfill.
No, I’m not doing without my geek paper. I bought the DVD set from the publisher, and I have every last one of them sitting on my hard drive instead of taking up multiple file cabinets in the storage unit.
Vunderbob, if the someone coming for your magazines is about 6’ tall, skinny as a rail, 70+ years old, talking about the last bit of model set-up he finally had to move out of the spare bedroom to make room for other stuff, that’s my dad. Tell him he doesn’t have room for all those magazines, either!!
And FCM, congrsts on the job! Isnt’ it nice to be ‘retired’ but still able to pick and choose if/when/where you want to work, just in case ya wanna? That sounds like it’ll be a good deal
Trust me there shall be “appreciation” for mowage and cakeage.
So, we’ve had pool time, finished mowin’, and dindin prep is underway (grilled ham slices with pineapple slices, marinated bean sallit, baked N.O.T., garlic bread and of course cake and ice cream. NUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYY!!!
Back to dindin prep.
Laterz!
And now for a political statement guaranteed to make you smile, no matter your affiliation: this.
I want to smile but it’s gone!!
