The weather is crazy. Saturday and Sunday broke heat records for here. Right now at noon, it’s 68°F. No rain, but there’s a marine layer (that means cloudy). Next weekend is again supposed to break records.
At least it’s comfortable today.
picu since Jawja is by an ocean, I shall now refer to cloudy as a marine layer. I’ll sound all suave and sophisticated! Or just add further proof that I have, indeed, lost all my marbles. Either way, I’m good.
BBBobbio I hate hate hate push polls. My standard answer is “whatever this poll is for, I am now against because you just helped me make up my mind.” And, dependin’ on what my mood is at the time I may add “asshole.” I tend to not be my usual sweetness and light when it comes to those things.
StickyBuns I am at irk. I could be doin’ sump’n productive but, like you, I’m not.
Come on go home time!
Whew!! We moved all the good lumber, got the generator out and dropped off for service, daughter found some stuff she wanted for home and for her classroom, and she also found a bunch of cast iron cookware that I can get some $$$ for! In fact, there’s a fair amount of stuff in there that I can get some $$ for, so my plan for the rest of the week is to sort - one pile for the dump, one for yard sale, and one pile for **FCD **to sort to decide what he wants to keep and what we can sell. With luck, I can do a yard sale on Sat. I figure one sign with balloons on it by the main road and a sign and balloons on our side gate, and we’ll be good.
We had a late lunch at Ledo’s - every time I go there, I have high hopes, and every time, I’m disappointed. They really are mediocre. We should have gone for Mexican. Oh well…
Um, that’s all I’ve got. For now. I think the cold front came thru - it’s only 82 here.
The CoCo Cantina is on our short list to try. Just sayin’.
I made a quick and easy dindin, chef sallit. Deli coldcuts help. Now it’s off to Vestry meetin’.
::ZOOM::
**BBBobbio **- that would have worked if it was in Leonardtown. I wasn’t up for a drive into the big city.
My sweetie’s home, daughter has gone, vegging has begun. Life is good.
I’m a terribly person. There’s one person in my novel (I’m typing up the last part now) who I LOVE to pick on. Admittedly, he deserves it.
Worked on putting my classroom back in order. Going to help the eldest limey set up her first classroom tomorrow, although she’s helped me for so long, she could do it in her sleep, I’m sure. My classroom has an AC unit, which is essential, since it’s been right at 100 degrees for a month. And humid. Poor eldest limey has no AC, so we’re collecting fans to help her out. Luckily, about every time I’ve been to the hospital in the last five years or so, they’ve given me one, so we have quite a collection.
I was getting ready for irk, so I did not have time to linger over the 'puter.
My daughter has recruited me to help her next week - she’s completely rearranging her classroom, so much muscle will be needed. She’s done a lot to help me out, so I can return the favor - oh the joys of retirement!!
Obigatory dunkin prost
Hrm, now I’m wonderin’ what kind of pastries would dunk well in what kind of boozy drink! All I can think of is biscotti in irish coffee.
And now I want some boozy coffee.
Happy Monday folks! We got some rain here in Albuquerque last night although I didn’t even hear it. It was noticably wet this morning outside, and that is most unusual here–the dryness usually dries everything in short time! But yay for rain, we can use more.
My daughter and I ventured to Wally World this morning, leaving at the un-Ogly hour of 7:30. It was all good, though, as we had grocery shopping and a bit of other things to purchase. We managed to get out alive (school stars here next Monday) and home by a little after 11, so that was a pretty good trip. And I only need to get a few more things … I always forget something, even when making a list. Unfortunately, we forgot the list this time! :smack:
SCL, so good to see you posting, and before you get to ABQ, drop me a message. We live fairly close to Kirtland AFB, so maybe we can have lunch or something?! I think you will be amazed at Albuquerque, btw - and do go up the Tram, if you can (and if you’re not scared of heights that is).
All right, hugs to everyone. Tomorrow is another day!
I puttered around inside the house today and managed to muck out about half of my den. I’ll finish it tomorrow and run the steam cleaner in there too. I’d like to take everything out and run the cleaner, but I have two desks in here and way too much computer equipment in here. So, I’ll do the best I can with that stuff in place.
Oh shoot! I just realized I forgot to buy spot treater when I was at the store just a bit ago.
In just a bit, I’m going to make dinner. Ribeye steaks and baked potatoes at my son’s request.
Yesterday was just miserably hot here. It was over 95 degrees here in my neighborhood and about 87 in the house during the worst of it. Thankfully, that nice cool marine layer blew in and cooled things down. It burned off by around noon, and it’s toasty outside again. Thankfully, it’s not as bad as it was yesterday.
Good timing - I was grilling chicken for dinner, and not three minutes after I decided the chicken was done and brought it in, the angels all decided to take a piss and it started pouring.
Home from Vestry meetin’. Actually have been for a little while but I needed to get the hunk o’ beef out of the slow cooker. It shall be part of tomorrow night’s dindin. Vegetative matter TBD.
gotti I do believe that is the most ummm colorful description of rain I have ever seen!
doggio be partayin’!
Now I shall go lie upon the bed and watch teevee for a bit though I fear it shall not be for long. Da bear is beginnin’ to feel sleepified.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
If Dave’s looking down at me right now I know he’s smiling. I had been bummed out that I’d missed the pre-sale tickets for the next time Jackson Browne was in town and the concert was sold out. He had been looking for tickets for me and found a couple in Cincinnati, but I didn’t really want to drive that far.
Tonight my dad took me by complete surprise when he showed up with a pair of lawn seats. Apparently they’ve released more tickets in the last few days. I’m excited to go but it’s kind of bittersweet.
Otherwise, it’s just about time for bed here. Class in the morning tomorrow and then a bunch of errands to run.
Your dad sounds like he knew just what to do. Nice guy.
I’m soooooo excited by Curiosity landing. My colleague’s hubby lead the team that developed the parachute, so it’s even cooler by close association!
Would that be Irish, Scottish, Trifásico, Carajillo…?
Trifásico: coffee, dash of milk, rum. Carajillo: coffee, brandy.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 83 (BRRR!) and rain. I’ll believe that when it happens.
StickyBuns how cool of your dad! I just know you’ll enjoy Jackson Browne. I had no idea he was still performin’.
Nava you sure do know your drunken coffees!
Now I need more (boozeless) caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Oh, I have to go over to the east forty this mornin’ so that should bring on rain and assorted plagues and pestilence.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
