Leaving O a Jet MMP

Happy Sunday!

It is cool and N.O.S. outside.

I slept longer than I wanted to this morning but it’s okay since I don’t have a schedule for the day.

The cat is being stupid. I woke twice last night for a bladder call and both times he got in front of me, stopped and rolled. I am stupid clumsy when I first wake up. Then he got behind me and rolled around as I was opening the blinds this morning. He’s lucky I turned around instead of stepping backwards.

College textbooks are awfully expensive 2Gig. Most of them are just a stack of loose pages, and some of the pages are so thin they tear when you turn them and you can see the print from the other side.

See, that is just one of the ways this country is so backwards. Textbooks should be free or nearly so. And the prices for some of them are in the hundreds of dollars. Ain’t right.

My staycation comes to an end tomorrow. I sure have enjoyed it and could do with another week. On Tuesday my teen and problem clerk leave and that leaves just me and one other clerk to run the entire show until my new hires start and they will not be ready to leave alone for a month or more. Tis gonna be a challenge for sure. I have never been so short of help at one time. I know though in the long run it will be best that problem clerk leaves. She is lazy and addicted to her phone. No amount of training can correct initiative.

As for today I plan to clean out the fridge and really give it a good cleaning. We have a bunch of leftovers I think shall be supper. I can probably do one load of laundry or two if I strip the bed. A little this and that and the house will be cleanish. We discussed washing the car later today but I don’t know if that will happen. Louie needs his Sunday bath. That will happen.

And Blurf

In the psych and education departments at Pitt the books were well made but expensive. And often written by the professor teaching the class; go figure. Many classes were OK but the intro ed psych class the books cost more than the class itself!

Thanks Honey-buns! From you its always much appreciated.
Running the smoker today. I have some chunks of rock maple I’ve been wanting to try and am going to use an assortment of fowl, pig and cow. We also seem to have a groundhog in the neighborhood yards. My temptation is crossbow and since the smoker is already going ------ but I’m afraid some of the neighbors won’t see things my way.

Howdy Y’all! All deheathenated and have had N.O.L. Plus the kitchen is all cleanded up. 'Tis cloudy out with thunder rumbles in the distance. I see that as a good reason for nappage.

Laterz!

Good morning.

Yeah, I know it’s afternoon, & I did get up this morning, had some brekkie, checked email & then went back to bed as I was friered (combination fried & tired).

In the roughly 31 hours between when I left home Fri afternoon & got back home last night (technically early this morning) approximately the inverse of that number were spent in the car driving about ¾ of a thousand miles, with two individual component rides being at least partially very froggy or delugey & longer than I spent in Motel 5⅓! That’s why I’s friered.

I will tell you about the riveting (or is it soldered?) tale of international currency, & guns & running, which I blame on [del]V Putin[/del] the Russians but I’m thinking of waiting to start us off tomorrow morning as I gots other stuff to do while it’s so nice out.

Nuts, iffn you’re planning on going again next year lemme know in the spring some time so that I can make arrangements & get a reasonably priced plane ride.

I guess I have commitment (to the MMP) issues. I try to get here and then you know it’s Sunday and it’s almost over for the week.

Yesterday was my 10K race. After taking 4 weeks off due to a suspected stress fracture (which wasn’t), my only goal was to complete the race and I did. Up next I’m contemplating the Bacon and Legs 5K in September. With a name like that, what’s not to love?

School starts/students return a week from Tuesday. This week will be spent in meetings and in working on my classroom. And I have to tell you,* I really don’t wanna*. This is more than the usual teacher angst. I really am concerned about being prepared and the safety of everyone in the room. I had hoped to get a plan of action together a long time ago, but now the planning meeting is this coming week. This is more stress than I want to deal with. Add on top of that I’m not sure that one of my aides is returning. I have a feeling that she isn’t and that she’s going to wait until the last minute to resign. If she is returning, then she’s apparently mad at me for some mysterious reason and not responding to my work related texts. Either way, like I said, too much stress.

Today I’m trying to work on lesson plans, but as you can see, I’m here.

It’s raining! Water from the sky, raining! Unusual for this time of year, but I hope it clears the air out.

We’ll be heading out for a walk in a bit, if it stops drizzling. Someone needs her walk or she’s a crazy one, and Pepper needs it too.

When I read that first sentence I immediately had a visual of the refreshment tables along the way handing out strips of bacon along with the water.

The second sentence concerns me. Why is everyone in the room in danger? What have I forgotten about your life?
It rained up here too Sunny, but it seems to have stopped for us. We (mostly Wifey) wanted to run my Scion through the car wash today. Might not need to do that after all now.
I’ve just been informed that I WILL do that today anyway.

We have a mouse, or mice, again. As I’ve undoubtedly mentioned before, we live in a 120 year old house which is more or less a sieve. I’ll have to go to the store in a bit and get some mouse bait. I’m thinking about getting some other stuffs while I’m at it and trying out a recipe for chicken gnocchi soup I found.

Wifey just left for a real estate appointment and said as she was leaving * “anything you can do around her while I’m gone would be good.”* Of course she said it in that tone of voice that made it clear that I’d do it wrong, but whatever.

I suppose I should get started.

Could be worse Bumba

You could have squirrels too.
And maybe a bat. I still haven’t gone up into the attic to see if our bat came back this year.

I just got my puppy contract.
Sixteen more days.

Spent the day delivering sustenance to college-ish* students, and I’m too tired to do other stuff now.

At least my side gig is slowing down a little. I’ve been helping my parents rehab my grandparents’ little farm house, and I’m exhausted. So far, we’ve repaired the back wall/shored up the roof (termites,) installed a new septic drain field and gray water drain, run all-new plumbing and electrical, added 4 new windows, replaced another, added a door, and a bunch of other random crap. The biggest job left is to repair some joists in the attic and install a new roof, but I’m not doing that until the weather cools - probably October. But it’s impossible to overstate how strenuously I do not recommend doing a house remodel with one’s parents. Especially if Mom is a control freak and Dad knows nothing about how to do any of it, but has strong opinions about how it ought to be done…

But it’s Sunday evening
Time to get the girls ready for school tomorrow. Littlest Miss adores kindergarten, Girl 2.0 is enjoying her junior year of high school, and LilyKat would really prefer to sleep late and watch videos all day. I’m just glad I am taking another day off of construction tomorrow, may even rest a little!

*Was too broke for traditional graduation gifts for two kids in May, so I made goody baskets of snacks for them ahead of the start of classes tomorrow. Found out during deliveries that one of “my” girls has, since Thursday, moved out of her dorm, withdrew from her classes, and quit her job. I’m worried about her. Also delivered a few groceries to The Boy’s house, as he’s been too busy to shop.

On preview: Tomcat mouse bait, **Bumba **. It works brilliantly. (I get about 2 meeces per year, during harrowing and harvest of the fields next door. And the farmhouse was overrun with mice when my parents took possession. Tomcat works, and they offer a clever little bait case that let’s rodents snack, but not bigger animals and children.

Wouldn’t that be nice, and bacon shaped medals?

I teach students with significant behavior and communication issues. If everyone in the room is not educated as to how to address issues when they arrive (or prevent them), it can cause problems. These are NOT bad kids, but if something upsets them, they may bite, hit, or kick as a means of communication.
We’ve had several bats in this old house, but so far no mice which really surprises me because of all the possible points of entry. Perhaps the neighborhood stray cats are helping us out?
I just attempted to take a nap, but just as I was getting sleepy, RT called. So now I’m going to attempt to do that work that I wanted to do previously. We’ll see how that goes.

ruble, a conabear trap works well for groundhogs. If you get them young, they can be quite tasty. just remember to completely remove the musk glands.

I’ve heathenated, sanitized the dog [del]jail[/del] crate, mopped the laundry room floor, prepped breakfasts/lunches for the week and am about ready to have a bowl of chicken veggie stew from the crockpot for supper. I’s tahred.

I accomplished nappage and haulin’ the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down the driveway for pickup tomorrow mornin’. I say that’s effort enough.

I bathed the dog and myself, remade the bed and heated up leftover sketties. I am ready for bed.

And i read two books on life inside North Korea.

Retired folks live the life of Riley, damn their eyes.

**Butters **- I read a book on life in NK written by a Russian journalist who lived there for a while. It was hard to believe how horrible the common folk have it - and this was written before Li’l Kim took over for his daddy. I doubt that things have gotten any better.

Weekend winding down with Netflix and crocheting for a while, now we’re watching baseball. I got done all the chores I wanted to do this weekend and I got lots of good sleep. I’m as ready as I can be to go back to the office.

I usually preferred a .300 H&H but then again, I’ve been around tractors that flipped hitting a burrow. I actually found one exit; since it goes under the house next door I have considered going all CaddyShak over it. I’ve cooked whistle-pig before and always found the roaster and time the best method. But if I can get a clear chance at this sucker with anything at hand I figure on just going wanton waste and putting him/her under the garden or out with the trash.

Speaking of cooking, dinner was a little steak, a little pork, a little chicken and some corn. Ya build a fire ya mite as well have some fun.

We live in the middle of town, and so far, in 28 years here, we’ve had: mice, rats, many possums, raccoons (although the coons didn’t get under the house), and a skunk. We have squirrels around, but so far they’ve left the house alone. We did have a squirrel once who decided he, or she, was gonna live in the attic of our beach cabin. I spent every trip to the beach repairing holes in the eves of the cabin. The last straw was when the little devil’s spawn chewed into the birdhouse on the side of the cabin and ate the baby birds.:mad: The next trip up I took a .22 pistol with me and I shot him, or her.

Last dinner for Convention. Then last cocktails. Home tomorrow, and back to work on Tuesday.

Congrats, sticky
