Let's all have a better week in the MMP

Goo must’ve eaten one of Cat Mom’s hairs. She had a dingleberry hanging from it out of her butt. After a bit of chasing, I got the biggest part off; but it took more chasing… and coaxing her to her kibble dish… before I could get the rest. I got most of the hair, but it did snap.

Thai food overlooking Blaine harbour for dinner tonight.

Evening all. Got the shopping done, for once Kroger had everything on my list (Friday mornings seem to be best for full-stockage) and while the swimming pool was full while I was there, got some extra time in the sauna and whirlpool. Also stopped by my bank and confirmed I can get Argentine pesos before I head there at the end of January. Last soccer practice has been held and Jack’s provided the evening sustenance. Now need to get organized for tomorrow, likely to be hectic.

flyboy, maybe just a wee bit TMI there; but glad Goo didn’t mind.

nellie, good luck with the Medicare folks, hope it doesn’t delay the operation.

JtC, glad husband-unit wasn’ tquite as bad off as you feared. And I don’t like Resse’s cups either (but I bought tow package of Kit-Kats, and I do like them…)

Do you have a panic button (or even a lock/unlock) button? I’ve used those in the past to locate a missing vehicle.

Red, glad it was a low-impact collision, hard to watch it happen, isn’t it?

OK, need to work out the lineups and plan for tomorrow’s games. All y’all take care.

I routinely use the trunk open button on my fob to find my car. I have a 2012 red Camry. So do a lot of people….

I had to cut my workout short because I am itching. It’s like I never got the shot and didn’t double-up on my already doubled antihistamines. I’m going to see if a cool shower helps, but I want to get typing out of the way first, as cool water triggers the Raynaud’s Syndrome (blood vessels shut in my fingers, so they turn white and numb.)

In happier news, the shin splints are better.

nettie, my mom was 4’9 and often couldn’t find her car in a parking lot. She attached a big sunflower to her antenna. One year I drove us from her house north of San Diego to my cousin’s in LA. Let me tell you, you’ll never feel cooler than when you’re driving on I-5 with a giant sunflower thwap-thwap-thwapping in the breeze. I know that doesn’t help you, though. What I used to do was hit the button to open my (empty) trunk and look for that. Someone needs to invent a phone app that will help you find your car: “Proceed east 10 yards.Turn left. That is the Mercedes you would have owned had you bought shares in WalMart, like your cousin Leo told you to do. Now turn right…”

flyboy, ew. Poor Goo. Poor you. Icky-poo.

Oh, it won’t I know it’s hard to keep my surgeries straight, but the one I’m having Monday is for a sorta female* thing, which I haven’t detailed because it might give some menfolk here the vapors. The Medicare issue is about the eye surgery.

JtC, is Social SEcurity where I’d go about Medicare? I don’t even know. Also, glad you dragged hubs to the doc.

*That is, the issue is sort of female. I’m 100% female. Of which SPECIES is up for debate.

I had that surgery 5 years ago~actually 3 surgeries in one fell swoop. I was so glad I did and wish I had done it sooner.

JtC, so glad you got hubs checked out~we’ll all sleep better. You can always get him a big cat stuffed animal to hug when he is coughing.

I also thought the eye surgery was on Monday. I’m glad you have time to deal with this because getting a government exception to anything is never fast. Are you on straight Medicare? If so, your social security office should be able to help. If you have a supplement or advantage plan, you will have to take it up with them.

The advantage to an in-person visit is that you are so nice and sweet that your worker will happily go above and beyond for you, even if it is not in their job description. A phone worker will also like you but won’t have the freedom to go above and beyond due to fear of someone listening to the call recording and calling them out for taking extra time to do something that is not their job.

I am glad I was able to convince Hubs to get checked out. It’s times like these that I really miss his Mom because I had no shame about calling her and snitching him out. All it used to take was to grab my phone and say “I’m going to call your MOM!” to get him to discuss whatever the issue was a little more and likely give in because he didn’t want to talk to her about it.

I staggered into CVS to get my prescription painkillers. I was in pain, kind of groggy and feeling like Hell. The pharmacy tech got the pills and said “it will be 28¢”.
Me (again, not really with it): I’m sorry? $28?
Her ( double checking the price): No, 28¢.

At least I didn’t overpay.

I know you probably didn’t think about it, but if you must go out again, grab one of those electric wheel chairs stores have. They are for people with mobility issues. Being stabbed in the gut tends to cause mobility issues, so use them guilt free.

It is too late now for you, but here is a PSA for everyone. If one is having a medical issue that causes temporary mobility issues, their doctor can complete the paperwork for a temporary handicapped parking permit. They are red rather than blue, dated and expire in six months. The paperwork received from the doctor must be delivered to the motor vehicle department and there is a small fee for the placard which is why it would probably be too much bother for you at this point. Hubs was able to get mine for me, but every state is different.

The placards are designed to go with the owner, so if you are getting a ride from someone else they are entitled to park in the gimp spots to allow you, the one with the mobility issue easy access to your destination. This is not abuse of the placard, this is using it as it is intended.

So says Jane the Cane who’s opinion, speeling, grammer and punctuation is always right.

Had salmon, wild ric, and steamed cauliflower for dinner. Dinner wasgood, hockey was bad.

Yay!

Good enough

I have roommate’s spare, because I end up driving people with mobility issues to bars.(Of course when I have a bar related mobility issue, I grab a Lyft).

We had the same, but with steamed brown rice. GG sits on his stool to watch us while we are doing stuff and when he saw hubs bring out the salmon, he knocked VBC off her feet in his panicked scramble to hide under the spare bed. Grumpy Old Cat started banging his tin cup against the bars and loudly demanding his share about half way through the cooking process, so I guess GG did manage to figure out the connection between the raw salmon and GOC trying to break out.

Maybe he has THREE brain cells rattling around in his very handsome skull.

I shoulda named him Fabio.

I have a cane I use.

I haven’t ever seen an electric wheelchair at that CVS or I might have snagged it.

Isn’t neosporin a paste? How does one snort that?

Today was pretty good, had a client meeting, went over a bunch of details, so’s I can get started on that. And a potential big project is looming, gotta wait and see about grant things.

Did a look up on LL Bean return policies, and saw that maybe I can get my slippers replaced…the lacing shouldn’t have given out like it did. But it was a gift from my mom, and they’re apparently gonna try to look it up in the files. Hah. My mom retired 2 years ago, but before that if you called LL Bean, chances are the person you talked to was trained by her. And she bought a shit-ton of stuff from them.

Hoping JtC hub’s ribs feel better soon. At least you got him to the doc.

I witnessed the dumbest collision I’ve ever seen today. At a stop sign, I’m the third pick-up waiting to go (I do live in an area of either Subarus or pick-ups), the one in front of me just slowly crept up and bumped into the first truck, like hit the rear bumper with the inside of his wheel well. Truck #2 was a POS, truck in position #1 was pristine. I left the area cuz I didn’t want to be involved.

The cool shower didn’t help a bit. Nor did the extra antihistamines. Not gonna lie: I’m pretty miserable.

JtC, I can vouch for the temporary handicapped tags being a good idea. When I tore my calf muscle some years back, I was on crutches, and it was a huge help to be able to park near the store. It didn’t do any good at work, though. A para who’d had knee surgery a year earlier had a permanent disability tag, even though she was fully able. There was only one handicapped spot near that entrance, and she always took it. (This was before I was able to get there at 6:30 a.m.) I asked her to please let me have it while I healed, but she refused, so I had to crutch an extra 50 yards. Nice woman. I was relieved when she got fired two years later.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

Well, I was out of brown rice.

my day went to all kinds shit because of a friend of some of my family and his daughter…

What makes it even worse is the dad was a close friend of my aunt’s son and he let him stay there … well his wife HATED him and threw a fit after a while and told him he had to go…Well, she spent all afternoon bawling and such being a drama empress cause of the guilt …

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and mostly clear (whatever that means) with a predicted high of 79 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is the Jawja-Flahrduh game. Other than that high sloth shall prevail. Any need to feed will be via forage. We have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips and so forth. Church is doin’ one of those Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat (that sounds ominous to me. It’s like sayin’ gimme a treat or I’ll stuff you in this trunk!) deals, which shall be avoided by us at all costs. Just not our thang.

Flyboy congarats! You win this week’s most TMI post award.

JtC glad hubby got checked out and glad it’s at least not anything majorly serious even though it hurts.

red glad there was no major damage to either vehicle.

Nellie hope you get the issue with Medicare fixed soonest.

{{{shades}}} how awful! I hope they find whoever did this so the family can have some closure.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I thought we were the only ones who said this!!

Speaking of sloth, Roxy has decided that it’s her favorite animal now! Daughter is looking for a pattern to crochet one. I could be evil and buy her a stuffed sloth… correct that - I just ordered her a mini sloth from Da Jungle - she’ll get it tomorrow.

Last night was Da Pits! I couldn’t fall asleep - it was after midnight when I finally lost consciousness. But I kept waking every hour or so. I gave up around 6. It’s gonna be a long-ass day.

We’re going to get out the mulcher/vac today and de-leaf the yard - it’s a disaster out there. I’ll let FCD drive it around while I rake along the edges. I see a couple of hours of work there. Beyond that, I’m just too tahred to plan. We’ll just kinda wing it today.

I want to see the movie Tán - I heard a story about it on the radio a couple of weeks ago and it actually sounds like something I’d enjoy. Maybe tomorrow??

Meanwhile, ONWARD! Happy Saturday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15c/59f with a predicted high of 18c/64f , with rain showers. Weather app says “I’m glad it’s raining. And by glad, I mean fucking annoyed” - I am not exactly annoyed as they are only showers, but I have to drive up north this afternoon so I might be annoyed later.

Last night was uneventful, I made dinner, we vegged on the sofa watching a strange film called “Men”. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad, it was just strange. I went to bed afterwards and had a reasonable (for me) sleep. I was up at 7am to tend to the mogs before I went to the gym. Bootcamp and spin has been accomplished, home for a cuppa and a change of clothes, out to get my haircut and put petrol in the tank, and now back home for cuppa and lunch.

This afternoon we’re going up to Preston to meet some friends, and see a couple of bands later. New venue for us, never been there so it will be an interesting experience. I’m looking forward to it, the headline band (Ward XVI) do a very good stage show, and this is the last time they will do it in its entirety. Staying overnight at some cheap hotel, then home in the morning as we can’t leave the cats for too long.

Better get on, then!

I’m sorry about your friend and his daughter shady.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The only things slated for the day are folding laundry, cleaning up the patio and yard for autumn and gassing up the car.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 42 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of 58 with cloudy skies all day. I think today is supposed to be the dryest day of the weekend.

nellie, I hope the Medicare issue is worked out soonest.

I am sorry about your family friends, shady. That is really awful.

JtC, I’m glad the hubby went to the doc and even more glad that nothing is broken.

I don’t have any plans on the agenda today. I might go to the big orange store for some terlet parts, and then stop at Safeway on the way back home to buy my favorite type of Kleenex. Da Jungle can’t get their poop in a group to get some here in any kind of timely fashion and I’m not paying twenty bucks for four boxes of 45-count tissues, not when they’re like two bucks a pop at Safeway.

In the never-ending story, the crud still has me down. I’ve never been sick with something like this for so long. I just want to feel like myself again.

I didn’t get much sleep, but then again, I rarely do.

I should try and push the mower around today, all this rain really made the lawn grow and I’d like to get the last mow for the season in. At least, I hope it’s the last mow. Usually, we’ve had frost by now, but it hasn’t happened yet so everything keeps growing. My flowers and even my tomatoes are still producing.

The way I found out that I had a bad reaction (instant and hours-long puking) to codeine was when I was in the hospital after having had my gall bladder removed. In those days the surgery wasn’t laparoscopic; they still sliced you open. Let me tell you, puking so hard the nurses are concerned about things tearing was no fun, and neither was the pain associated with it. I didn’t even really need the dumb pill, they gave it to me to “keep on top of the pain”. It just made things worse.

Time for some more coffee that doesn’t really taste all that good. Nothing tastes good.
