Let's all have a good week in the MMP

VanGO, been there, changed plans because of it; wish the rain or sun would agree what time they will be around…

Sunny, I don’t remember ever having that much of a problem on my mortgage; then again, it was in 1997, a simpler age…

wet one, I usually leave my AC thermostat about 77F, during the cold months the heat kicks in about 72F when I’m up and 68F when I’m abed. Or something like that.

midlifecrisis, obligatory cat pictures if the feline acquisition take place.

Did my swimmin’ and sauna and the scale at the gym says I weigh 274lbs, which is the first time in…well, a long time…that I’ve been below 275. Now to shoot for 270 (eventually I’d like to make it to 250lbs, still overweight but much better for my health). May have to start looking for XL clothes and stuff.

Bought some 2-liter Pepsi on sale at Kroger and now have $2.43 cash money on hand. So probably eat in tonight and hit up the bank tomorrow.

Soccer coaching in 90 minutes. All y’all take care.

I may have screwed up. When I booked the appointment for the COVID booster for tomorrow, I forgot that I also have an itch shot (for the mast cell disorder) in the afternoon. I don’t think this should be a problem unless I get side effects from the booster. I’ve felt pretty cruddy after two of the four COVID shots I’ve had so far, but I’m an optimist, so I see the syringe as half-full. It took me a long time to get the COVID booster appointment, and I absolutely can’t miss or put off the itch shot, so fingers crossed.

Also, I smell smoke from the fires. [glares at sun]

VanGo, forgot to say before that I’ll be hoping hard that you get the gig.

Feeling better and the BG is in a normal range now.

Read and watched some reruns this afternoon.

SIL called - I get both kids tomorrow. Roxy has a low-grade fever. But I can spend the day in the basement with both of them. So no biggie.

So far, the only aftereffect from my shots is that my shoulder is tender to the touch. She gave both shots in the same arm - about 1" apart. We’ll see how I feel in the morning.

Meanwhile, chillage shall reign!

I’ve been a bit worried about my heart because my resting heart rate is always high so I decided to go for a one hour walk every day. I don’t speed walk but go at a good pace and up lots of hills to give my heart a good work out.

In less than 4 weeks my resting heart rate has gone down by 10 bpm! I’m really surprised at how quickly my body has responded to exercise. And I don’t know if it’s just coincidence but I have significant issues with eczema and that has greatly improved as well.

I think that’s the main thing. After the housing crash, they’ve added a lot of requirements to documentation. We submitted a bunch of paperwork to get the approval and now we are submitting more paperwork to show that we haven’t bought a yacht or something while we were waiting for the house.

Yay!

Fantastic!

Howdy Y’all! Much sloth ensued today. We had quality cee-mint pond time, day drank, and achieved nappage. Leftover sup got et and the kitchen cleanded up. Thus it is in swampland.

Yanker glad the doggie is feelin’ like himself again. Squirrels and lizards must be chased, after all. Good on your progeny for rescuin’ the little kitteh. I am sure kitteh will be happy in his/her forever home.

VanGo appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the gig.

MOOOOOOM hope the plan continues to go off without a hitch. Yay for the booster shot. I want the Moderna booster, but if it is still not available around here by the end of the week, I shall go with what is available, which appears to be Pfizer.

sunny we told you buyin’ that ocean liner was a bad idea.

I called the place where I get the itch shots and left a VM on the nurse line. The recorrding says they check messages frequently and return calls right away. So far, no call back, and it’s almost 5 pm, but they’re busy, and they have patients with far more important questions than mine. I was able to book an appointment for the booster for next week, so that was good. I haven’t canceled tomorrow morning’s booster appointment because I really want to get it over with, so if I get the green light, I can still get both shots tomorrow.

red, glad the BG went down.

Good for you–and good FOR you!

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced, the 10-11 year olds were rather rowdy tonight, so my voice is a bit sore from yelling, but we did get a good workout. Grilled Cheese and tomato sammiches took care of my appetite, so do a little internettin’ and maybe watch some of the tackleball and that should do for the night.

nellie, hope the shots go off without a hitch.

Let me join the huzzah’s. I’m finally using the wrist BP monitor I got months ago and it’s showing a pretty consistent rate of 68-71 BPM. I get it up to 100-113 BPM when pedaling the stationary bke at the gym, but it settles back to around 70 soon after.

red, glad the numbers are good.

Everybody have a good night (or morning for our Euro friends) and I’ll catch you on 2sday.

Up from naptime. Dinner tonight is mushroom Swiss burger with caramelized onions, with fries and corn with Old Bay and butter. And an Old Fashioned.

I just replace mine ever so often($10 at Lowes vs. $50 if Maintenance replaces them)

Yay!

Orange you glad you bought it?

Yay!

Good luck!(and remind me to hire you to build me a bar if I ever win the lottery).

Happy Moonday!

No park today, I am tired.

I managed to get one large task today. It took us a couple of hours, but it’s done.
However, it took time away from a few other things on the list. Things that don’t have to be done, but they are cluttering up my brain.

1} When the ambulance brought me home back in January, they left a set of sheets behind. They have been sitting in a bag waiting for me to take them back to the hospital. I called the hospital and they said the sheets belong to the ambulance company. The ambulance company told me they only handle emergency calls, so it must be a different company, but it doesn’t matter, nobody is going to accept them anyway.
I have no use for them, so I guess they’ll be donated to somewhere.
2} We had groceries delivered right before my mother died. The poor driver got bad directions and it was a HUGE order. I wanted to add to her tip but didn’t have any cash. I tried calling Shipt, but they can’t find the order number. I have the driver’s name and number, so I’ll figure something out.
3) I need to write a review for the guy who helped us pick out a suit for my son for the funeral. He was so nice and helpful. Another one that should have been done months ago, but it nags at me. When somebody does a good job, all too rare these days, I think I need to show appreciation.
Three small things that I should be ashamed of not doing sooner.

Howdy all. Still in storm prep mode. I decided to get some gas for generator tomorrow and to fill my car. We are under a tropical storm watch but expecting anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of rain if the guessers are to be believed. I bought a cheap rain gauge that only measures up to five inches. The generator is to at least keep the fridge running as it’s pretty well stocked. All else I can use the gas later if it’s not needed.

I have my irk cut out for me tomorrow as I was a sloth today. I intend to totally clean the house top to bottom tomorrow and have a roast to slow cook. Later when the kids are here I need to move tons of potted plants into the garage. All dependent on the storm track which changes every few hours.

I also am wanting the Moderna booster but it’s not available here either and like Swampy I will go with Pfizer next week if necessary.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Argh. My sister says I should just go ahead and get both shots, since anaphylactic shock is so unlikely. I don’t know what to do. Maybe the answer will magically appear in my dreams.

No, you should not! With the many, many difficult and complex things you’ve had to deal with lately, I’m amazed you even remember any of this stuff. You’re sweet to want to do all this, but these are all Level 3 tasks that SHOULD wait until you’ve accomplish Levels 1 and 2. And if you never get to the Level 3’s, the universe cuts you some slack. May I say how much I admire you for holding it together for so long? I only wish the rest of us could do more to help .

Cupcake and others in harm’s way, I’m hoping hard that you’re spared. Please update us when you can.

Took a preemptive snort of decongestant, cuz I’ve been feeling that way in the mornings. Hoping to hear from the college about the new gig tomorrow. Hmmm…maybe I should tell them the rush fee will increase as the days to install get closer?

All y’all in storm territory stay safe. Errybody else, too.

Dear Management

My son and I recently lost my mother. Of course we were devastated over her loss and weren’t looking forward to shopping for a suit for the funeral.

We visited Store # and were very fortunate to meet guy who helped. He was so patient and so kind that he actually made this very unpleasant chore somewhat enjoyable. GWH was a pro, he knew how suits fit and what how to find one that worked well for us.

We want to let you know that you have a valuable employee and we will be recommending your store and GWH to all of our friends.

Sincerely,
Sari and SariSon

Copy, paste, fill in the blanks and send it off. I agree, taking a minute to say think you for doing a good job goes a long way.

I’m thinking you might consider asking the doggy day care folks if they need sheets to use for bedding or rags.

You raised a good kiddo.

Fingers crossed!

Give up the debate, the cat is inevitable. Do you have a name picked out?

I knew George’s name when I put down the deposit. Remember that Daffy Duck and Abominable Snowman cartoon? I was going to hold him and cuddle and and kiss him. Once we realized how not smart he was, I changed it to George of the Jungle. Somehow he turned into Porgie Puss (Georgie porgie, pudding and pie…)

Thank you for the compliment, but my secret is that I’ve already made all of the easy mistakes so I know how to correct for them. Sometimes. It set nicely, but I’m still not trusting it as far as shelf life is concerned.

Losing the diner as a customer was just fine. Losing a sit down place that we don’t have to drive an hour to get to is really not fine.

We have lost so many small, local businesses in the past couple of years. Le sigh.

I read forward and am happy that your BG is acceptable. I’ve noticed that one of the ways to tell that my meds aren’t working is that I am cold in what is a normal temp.

Speaking of which, I am currently freezing at 77F. I started new thyroid meds two days ago. It will not spark joy in my life if I have to go back to the old stuff because insurance companies don’t want to pay for the good stuff. Once I go on Medicare, I will be self paying for any thyroid med I take, so I was hoping to get the cost under 65 a month.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out (BRRR!) and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. The peasants rejoice! Also I am doin’ a good deed this mornin’. JDD is havin’ a colonoscopy and needs a ride there and back as Partner has gone back to irk part time for reasons I cannot fathom, but, hey it is his life. So I will get JDD there at eight this mornin’. Then I will fetch him and take him home after it’s all over. OYKW and I have decided to go do the geezer thing at the hog trough Golden Corral for a late N.O.L. which shall take care of any need to feed today.

sari I’m with you in wantin’ to let it be known when someone goes above and beyond like suit guy. However, you have had much more pressin’ matters to deal with so don’t feel guilty you have not done so yet.

Nellie hope you get both shots today with minor effects.

red glad you’re feelin’ better now.

floaty hooray!

midlife there is no such thing as thinkin’ of gettin’ a cat. You are gettin’ a cat.

JtC GG is a cuddle kitty and does not need to be smart for that.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the great unwashed attire. Alas, alack, bother, and woe is me!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Stoopit Ian is screwing with our plans, but I think we’ve figured out a slightly better plan. First off, we won’t leave here till probably Sunday instead of Firday, since the remnants are expected to blow thru here on Sat. Then FCD is thinking he’ll expedite loading the truck and coming back so we can get the apartment set up, then, if necessary, he’ll drive back to FL in his car to wrap up any loose ends. It’s not ideal but we’re thinking it’ll be a better plan for his folks at least.

He’s made dentist appts for both of them (FIL in Dec, MIL in Jan - sheesh!) and he’s trying to get them with our Dr but her next new patient appointment is in July!!! So we’ll need to work something out because they’ll need (at a minimum) med refills before then. If nothing else, if she can recommend some specialists, that will be a help.

Meanwhile, I’ll have both kids today - FCD is already planning to hide at the boat. And I’m thawing sketty sauce for a pasta bake - daughter will stay for supper when she picks them up. And, of course, laundry. So a full day ahead. Which will be interesting after the stoopit night of waking every 2 hours for no apparent reason. Well, one reason was I was chilly, so I threw a small afghan over my side of the bed.

And so it begins. Mainly with caffeination. Happy Tuesday!

I supposedly got thrown in FB jail for this post:

Lessee, bonk the intruder on the head with the wrench, clip their lips together, and shower them with hot pasta?

It was in response to a silly meme FCD posted on my feed. FB removed the meme. Could they possibly be any more humor impaired??

Anyway, I was able to post, I think. So who knows…

Good morning one and all.

I have read but retained little. All the same, I send the appropriate yays, boos, hugs, and words of encouragement.

It’s currently 54 degrees with an expected high in the upper 70s. There is supposed to be rain tomorrow, but it shall be minuscule amounts; like in the 100ths of an inch amount. I’d like a good soak to clear out the smoke and give thirsty lawns, plants and trees and drink.

Fingers crossed for the big gig, VanGo.

FB be silly, FCM and the most innocuous stuff is getting people in trouble. I post very little on it anymore but do use it to keep up with friends and family. I mainly comment or like things that have been shared. My life isn’t that exciting or interesting anyway and I keep all my politics to myself. I unfollow more and more people because I just don’t have room in my life for dumb political memes and the nastiness that creeps in during elections. When something is no longer enjoyable I tend to stay away from it. I always make an effort to post a good morning over on Swampy’s page, and I mainly post on a NW birding and hiking site if I have something to offer.

I received some sad news this weekend. My Tante C died. My mother has now lost four siblings and has only one left. My mother is the oldest. Sadly, my aunt died at a wedding…in the Alps. She had been invited by my cousin and really probably shouldn’t have gone due to some health issues. At any rate, something burst and she literally bled to death. I haven’t talked to Tante C since the mid-90s, and the last time I talked to my cousin (her son) was probably in the early 2000s. They all live in Germany and we’ve all just sort of drifted apart due to language barriers and just having different lives. My mother kept in regular contact, of course, but I did not. I have good memories of Tante C, and hope she did not suffer. Her son is now alone since his Dad passed away several years ago.

Man, it still smells smoky outside, but I had to open the windows this morning. I was hot and uncomfortable and just felt like I couldn’t breathe.

I will be on the road early tomorrow morning to attend a climate disaster and resiliency conference over on the Olympic Peninsula. It should be interesting.

Guess I should finish my coffee and run the dishwasher. I hope you all have a great day.
