Let's Get Froggy! A Beachy MMP.

We use shovels.

Just checking in to say good morning. Class is over and the landlord is coming by the house this morning, so I should mosey on home. Oh, I got a record player yesterday, yay! Today I go in search of awesome S&G records to start off my collection.

Prayers for SpecialMom and FCD.

surgeon said “no damage” and to concentrate on RoM exercises instead of increasing weights or resistance
I kinda figgered that, but better safe (and a wasted morning) than sorry

Woops, I just realized it’s Thursday and I haven’t poked my head into the thread yet this week!

I’m glad to see that our swampy is now present and accounted for, because last week he was MIA.

This week has been busy at work, I haven’t been sleeping well, and I’ve been a little…less than focused when it comes to my exercise this week. I need a do-over!

Oh well, I’ll be offsite tomorrow at a training class I’m really looking forward to, so that should be a good lead-in to the weekend.

Morning all!

Mission accomplished! We haven’t had enough TMI around here lately what with **swampy **working so much!

Great pix, gt! We went to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend and saw most everything that you did (although we didn’t make it to the art institute this time), and it was cool to recognize so many things in the pictures. The pix of the Dopefest were great too, Haze!

Cat pee is awful to try to get out of bedding. Sorry for the cat troubles, LiLi. :frowning:

Glad your knee is ok, rosie.

::waves:: to everyone else

I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind on offering hugs, pats on backs, smacks upside heads, congratulatory handshakes, and whatnots -
so here is a generous sprinkling of all of the above - consume as needed

BioRosie it’s always good to know sump’n ain’t wrong, so YAY!

:dubious: That’s how I feel about that test. Y’all know the test? The one that I was assured was nothing at all like that test I took before goin’ to da brewry? Wanna know what the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig difference was? There was no “Reading For Information” section, just applied mathematics and technical information. That was the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig difference. I swear those were the exact same math and technical info questions I answered on the test I took in June. :dubious:

Oh and Waffle House pecan waffles are still as wonderful and artery cloggin’ as ever. Thought y’all would want to know that.

Happy thoughts, hugs, awws and boos where needed.

Later Y’all!

I think if this ever happens again I will make Bailey into a nice winter hat.
SpecialOne, I know you probably won’t check in for a while, but prayers headed out.

How does one go about constructing Chicago pizza? I’m curious.

Pecan waffles sound awesome.

Glad to hear things are okay, rosie!

Argh, stupid stove has been disconnected. The guy from the gas company said our connector was made of brass, which is apparently not allowed anymore. Landlord said he’s coming tomorrow. He better come tomorrow. I don’t want to eat takeout all weekend.

I feel a sinus infection coming on. Blech. I was in the break room for decongestants and ibuprofen, when a co-worker came in and said, Hitting the drugs already? It’s not even lunch time! :stuck_out_tongue:

Our servers are all fixed, except the one I’m on. I just now got all my email for the last 24 hours. The database is thisclose to being fixed, but something still isn’t quite right, hopefully server-related. I’ll be calling the help line after lunch, when I’ll have the patience to hold for 20 minutes.

Good thoughts going out to everyone who needs/wants them.

Bother. The kettle just blew out one of our two fuses, and I don’t think we’ve got any extras left. I’m not sure where Mr. Lissar put the extra-fuse-container, either.

This day is a bit frustrating.

Home, first load of laundry started, and I’m glad tomorrow’s Friday, even if it means the inlaws will be here.

OK, just kidding about the  - my inlaws are just fine. Honestly, the worst I can say is that they try too damned hard not to offend or get in the way. I just wanna scream “RELAX!!!” I will be glad to have them at the hospital. It was very lonely last time.

Great pics! **MBG ** - you kinda look like one of the computer geeks at my work. Sorta. If you squint…

**FCD ** just called on his way home. Wanted to know what I thought about having Future SIL come here in January for a job at NASA. I’m thinking that’s kinda for the kids to decide, although I figure I may as well get used to him being around. On the other hand, if they broke up, that would be awkward… So I dunno.

I’m going to try to affix the “arthritic fingers” handles to the mugs for my sister. I don’t want the mugs to dry out, so I need to get in gear with that. We’ll see how well the **FCD ** finger mold works.

And that’s about all I have. Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. I’m trying to not dwell on the worst case scenario. It doesn’t help when *someone * keeps asking “Are you going to find a new boyfriend when I die?” Some people, I swear!!

Ask him if he’s trying to get you to give up the old one… :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the explanation! That makes total sense. I didn’t realize that labor was so cheap where you are.
About the song. . . wait!, I’m not 3 years old! I only act like that. And that video was kinda excruciating. I think I’d rather watch Barney. Those dance moves. . .yack!

swampy, so you should have aced that test! Good for you!
Why are pecan waffles artery clogging? Did you have the sausages to go with it? Or did you mean fattening?

Socks, why are we trying to make the longest MMP ever next week? Are you going to do your part and post several times a day? You’ll have to make up for any of Mamatigs’ absence due to her travel.

Lunch, glad to hear that your mom made it back safely. I hope you’re doing OK.

Well, one would hope!

scout, you can have a do-over next week. Just pretend that next week is this week.

Ah, so you were filling in for swampy. Nice job, then. You had me squicked for a moment there. Carry on.

Do we have to use these on ourselves. . .or can we take one and pass it on kind of thing? Like I’ll take a hug and pass on a smack upside the head to LOUNE or something like that. Does that work? :stuck_out_tongue:

Lili, dumb question but in the name of fighting ignorance and all that, what’s a fuse? And what do they look like? I think I vaguely remember something about a fuse box and it having to do with circuit breakers or something, but the rest is kinda hazy.

FCM, a few more good thoughts for FCD coming your way.

So, yesterday I got the e-mail telling me how to fix my Creative Zen MP3 player. And the contents actually worked! Basically, I had to reset it by putting the end of a paper clip into a tiny reset button and it started charging after that. So I’m jazzed about that.
Has anyone else tried geocaching? Someone mentioned it to me the other night and it sounds fascinating. Evidently, people place treasures around the place in plain sight and post about where they are by longitude and latitude. And then others with gps devices go about finding them. This friend said that when she went to Balboa park, she found dozens in just a tiny area of the park and she had a grand time finding them. It sounds fun to me.
It’s a little cool here, but other than that, it’s a beautiful day. I hope everyone is having a great one!

Thanks for everyones wishes for my Dad! He is excited for the pain to go away.

rigs home is England - Mam is a northern thing as opposed to the more southern usage of Mum in the UK.

I got frustrated with the benfits people the other day - after being told I could take FMLA without having to use vacation (I am trying to save my pitance of vacation so I can go home for Christmas this year for only the second time in 7 years as well as some for the wedding next year) then they tell me no I have to exhaust my vacation and I am not eligible for FMLA and then I was eligiable but only after my vaction balance was zero and I couldn’t take a leave of absence for a month as the minimum time had to be 6 months.

I called my boss in Denver and explained the situation he called it bullshit and went storming off to the personnel manager for the Western US. 20 mins later I a call from my bosses boss saying not to worry about it as I was intending to still work from home as we have a big project going on he personally has OK’ed it for me to be on ‘telecommuter’ status for a month.

So I am a little less stressed about the whole thing and very pleased that I won’t have to use some savings to make a morgage payment as I won’t be without a pay check. Things are looking up - flights are booked, kitty sitter arranged, shuttle from Ventura (where I have to be for a meeting next Tuesday - I can leave my car for free at our yard there as well with 24 hour security) to LAX arranged, plants from home are in my office for watering, newspaper stopped, mail on hold etc

I just need to pack and then go!

The Dope is so full of stories about how awful people have it in their jobs on a routine basis. And then ems comes in and posts this great gem about how great her food chain is in supporting her in a family emergency. Gives me hope, it does.

Oh, and if there’s anyone left that hasn’t seen the “World’s Most Tasteless Joke” that I emailed to a few of y’all several months back, I posted it in the “Tasteless Jokes” thread. Looking at the competition, it really doesn’t seem so bad now.

absolutely, just so long as he knows it’s from you and not me

Fuses are little round things that look like mutant lightbulbs. I think our wiring is from the 60’s. I located the bag, and now we have light again. That’s the second time in a week that fuse has blown.

I wish we had breakers instead. Or something. Electricity is a very hazy (N.O.H)subject for me.

That’s great, ems. Good for your boss for sticking up for you. Are your benefits people not in California? California has some very strict, employee-friendly laws around FMLA and such, including paid leave, as in paid by the state. Socialism! Marxism! The end of the world and capitalism as we know it! Oddly, two years later, that still hasn’t happened yet. :stuck_out_tongue: It sounds like you won’t need that, though, which is even better.

I was knitting in the park at lunch, when two friends of mine came by. It was purely coincidental, but very fun to meet up with them and chat for a bit. They mentioned some things that are going on at my old firm, and all I have to say, after the initial vulgar outburst, is that I am grateful I no longer work there. Compared to there, my current job is a virtual paradise. And nobody here (that I know of anyway) gets promoted just because they’re a good lay.

Finally getting in here at nearly the end of the day. I’m too tired to do more than wish everybody well. TGTIF!

ems - your benefits people are messed up - your have to exhaust sick time nefore using FMLA. Vacation time has nothing to do with FMLA and they need to reread the federal regulations!
I wish I could be a telecommuter. Nothing seems more appealing to me than rolling out of bed and working in my PJs. Unfortunately, they won’t approve it because there’s a cost outlay to hook me into the network for which they aren’t willing to budget
