Let's Get Froggy! A Beachy MMP.

Howdy Y’all! No OT today or likely this week. YAY!!! Ok, I like the money but after last week, YAY!!!

Nice OP Rebo! I like DB myself. Y’all ever been durin’ bike week? I’m not a bike person so I’ve never been then but my BIL usually goes. Sis went once cause he wanted her to but after that she just tells him to go have fun. So he does. Of course the bloody mary’s were good. Anything you drink out of a mason jar is good.

kai prayers and good thoughts headed out to your mom.

picu people suck. Especially when it comes to stuff. I just don’t get that. I mean, I got a lot of [del]junk[/del] stuff here at da cave so I don’t want other people’s stuff too but some folks just love to vulture anything they can it seems.

bbbobbio count me in as one of us who admires what you do with all that volunteer FD/EMT stuff. Got much kiddin’ about the ambulance yet?

Tonight is men’s night at the church. I got steaks and beerverages all ready to go. I don’t know if’n ol’ y’all know who is comin’ out to da cave first or is just gonna go to the church, which would make more sense bein’ as that would be closer. He’s supposed to call and tell me which he’s gonna do.

Ok, that’s all from swampland. Later Y’all!

ETA: taxi here’s the account of my AWOLness last week.

Hi all! You gotta be careful feeding seagulls, they’re opportunistic bastards. The high school I graduated from wasn’t far from the beach, and people would eat out on the front lawn of the place and leave their trash behind. I think every seagull in a hundred miles knew to come there for freebies, and you didn’t mess with them. You hoped they didn’t crap on you, too! Ewwww. I think everybody got hit at least once.

kai, we do indeed get poms, at least a few. I’ve seen a couple. There are a lot more bigger dogs; people around here tend to have dogs they can go do stuff with, though there are a fair number of little guys as well. Lotsa Labs. And we’re happy to take them, they’re easy, except for the rare one that doesn’t like water. Yes. Labs. That don’t like water. They exist.

Us two current underlings are going to run the shop tomorrow; my aunt has the chance to go with some clients/friends on a private jet to Sacramento to pick up their new Bichon puppy. Yes, they are flying from Idaho to California, for a day trip. I won’t say the name, but you’d all recognize it, and they do indeed have that kind of money!

picu, that sucks.

The weather is changing and my head isn’t too happy. The ibuprofen is helping. It’s trying to rain! Yay! We need any rain we can get!

Well, I am now here, sans two wisdom teeth.

Envy me.

I’ve never been, but Mr Rebo used to live there and went all the time. We want a bike so bad (or two!) - one of these days we’ll get a big RV and a bike trailer and head on down there for that. When we win the lottery!

Y’all would not believe these bloodies, though - olives and pickle slices and celery sticks and whole banana peppers and horseradish - it’s a salad in a glass!

picu - I’m so sorry that happened to y’all. Damn people.

kai - sending good vibes and prayers to you and your mom.

Well, I survived Monday. That’s all I’m gonna say about that. Not that it was a bad day - just boring, which is bad when you’re tired. Several times I realized I’d dozed off while trying to read assorted crap on the computer. Oh well…

I came home to a package full of clothes - yay! I like everything I ordered, so that’s good. And before I left VA, I stopped in Food Lion to get nutmeg. And noodles. And ground beef. And peaches. And ice cream. And some other stuff. So I’ve been pretty efficient for a change.

**Rebo ** - your pics brought back many memories. I got dragged to Bike Week and Biketoberfest several times. For me, once was quite enough, but my sweetie enjoyed it, so I’d go along. I’d been to several of the places you photographed, altho mostly looking - neither of us drinks.

The sunrise pic makes me want to take a weekend at the ocean. I may research it and see what I can do before **FCD ** goes under the knife.

snowbunny - regarding your last post in the last MMP - it’s not that I like it warmer. I just don’t like to pay the electric or oil bills, so I keep the house temp warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter. It’s called frugal.

**picu ** - I’m so sorry you had such a time with the move and accompanying drama. But it’s done - have a cookie. Or a brownie. Or an ample serving of comfort food and/or beverage.

I know I wanted to say more, but I can’t remember what, so I’ll just post this for now. I’m sure it’ll come to me later.

I forgot to mention I’m sending good thoughts to your mom, too, kai. They can do amazing things these days with transplantation.

snowbunny, I want to know the name! Email me! I know your aunt has some amazing clients. One woman flies her to Arizona and then has her drive her vehicle back to Idaho with her dogs – the dogs don’t like to fly, so they get chauffeured! Must be nice to be that rich, eh?

Ah. Frugal. Yes, I understand that, but my tolerance for heat is such that in the summer, I don’t care about frugal. During the winter it’s easier. And right now my utilities are included in my rent, though because of that I’m trying to go easy on them because I don’t want to use so much power that they want me to start paying for it!

I’m sitting here thinking I should go put on a robe or something. It’s chilly in here. I like it that way.

You’re weird, snowbunny. Are you sure we’re related?

I’d think you’d know for sure if we are or not!

Grrrr. One of our vendors makes me very GRRRR. She’s pushing me to approve some samples because nothing’s changed on certain versions so why do I need to see those versions again? But the people who tell me what to do normally require that I re-review all samples after a change, even those that haven’t changed. But Vendor wants to know why. I don’t know! Because they tell me to re-review, that’s why. Go talk to them. She wants me to make a decision now. And they’re in a meeting so I can’t go check with them. Why am I in the middle of this mess. People who make the decisions need to talk to Vendor and leave me the heck out of it!

Picu, that’s awful! :mad::mad:

**SnowBunny **-- If I managed to learn how to drive in the snow, anybody can!
And I love it when it gets cold, too  Of course, here it never does get really cold…

**Kai **-- good thoughts sent your way. I know what it’s like when one’s mother is, suddenly, not as healthy as she always was :frowning:

**Bobbio **-- I, too, am addicted to the excitement that is your weekends :stuck_out_tongue: Seriously, you’re really doing important work.

About to go to sleep – just past midnight here. Good night, everyone!

Very nice OP, Rebo and with lots of great pics too! Sounds like you had a good and relaxing time–always a plus for vacation.

Prayers headed to your Mom, Kai. I wondered the same thing about whether that huge elk might be a tough old bird, btw. But what a rack!! What did you mean by a goat hunt, though? Really goats? Mountain goats? I’m confuzled!

Gosh, Picu, sounds like the in-laws, esp. FIL, were really losing it. :frowning: So sorry that you got so dumped on and so rudely, especially your poor hubby. Geeze, his own Dad… :frowning:

I watched some of the Emmys last night, and before that tried to watch that red carpet thing with Joey Fatone and Lisa Rinna on the tvguide channel - ugh! Ross the Intern was supposed to be there, but Lisa and Joey didn’t seem to want to give up any camera time. :frowning: Lisa also kept asking some very rude questions, imho. Ok, maybe some inquiring minds out there do want to know intimate details, but geeze louise!! LOL I got very tired of Lisa and Joey very quickly. And I took a break from the Emmys to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm - gotta love Larry David.

Well … if you haven’t guessed it yet from my name, tomorrow is a … special day for me. Even more special this year, cause it’s number 55. At this time on the 18th of September, I will actually be -eligible- to retire. Of course, it’s not happening, because I won’t have enough to live on!!! And my son is still in college!!! Still, it’s good to know that the option will be there.

Hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend.

Oh and BBBobbio, very interesting tale yet again of your EMT work!! I’m wondering if your wife maybe frequents Ladybug? One of my cousins does a few quilting classes for them.

Hi, Mumpers!

Neat OP, Rebo. Sounds like you had a fun vacation. I agree the gator pic would be a great puzzle.

Wow, Bobbio, sounds like you had a really boring weekend. You should really get out more. And thanks for answering the locked key question before I got here.

Seriously, I’m so glad you’re willing to pitch in and help your community.

picu, sorry for the crappy situation. Hope it all got straightened out and that you don’t have to worry about any more FIL-related stress.

Prayers and good thoughts headed toward you and your Mom, kai.

Feel better soon, MBG.

I am unable to envy you, LOUNE. My brother and I each had all four out at the same time so that my mom would only have to deal with everything once. She took a picture of us (she is weird, not unlike her offspring - yes, it runs in families) and it looks like we have mumps. I was wearing a hoodie in the picture. The image is apparently keenly engraved in my memory because when I went to take a picture of my goddaughter in her new hoodie last week, it was the first image that came to mind. Hope you’re doing well.

I left work early because the Cipro a couple weeks ago doesn’t seem to have done the job completely. I hurt. But I just picked up my new prescription for Cipro, this time 10 days’ worth. Hopefully that’ll kill all the bugs.

I’m eating dinner and going to get my hair cut in about an hour… Yay! (It feels really long and messy.)

Hugs to anyone I missed, just 'cuz…

GT

You feel any less wise yet?

Is that even possible??

<snerk> sorry…

I had a perfectly splendid Monday morning. I ended up paying a guy only $30 a load to clean my garage, one (Toyota) pickup-truck-load at a time; he turned out to have a friend who currently has a construction dumpster on his property and who apparently didn’t mind having his buddy fill it up with broken furniture and rotting carpet, and so the whole problem of “illegal dumping” was averted; it only took 5 loads; and we were done by lunchtime.

At one point he observed, “Look! You have a corner there now!” And so it was.

I tipped him an extra ten bucks, “for being such a good sport”.

However, the Better Half wouldn’t let me get rid of the Monster Desk. It’s an enormous 1970s metal executive desk that he got at a garage sale for $10 shortly after we moved in here. He had the desk up in Bedroom #3 when we first moved in and had only one gosling, but as the second gosling turned out to be male, we needed The Office bedroom for the “boy’s room”. And so the desk had to go out to the garage.

It took him and three other guys a lonnnng time to wrestle that thing UP the stairs and around its corner (it’s one of those dogleg stairways that doesn’t go straight up). And back down again a couple years later.

I have a fond memory of using a Hefty sack as an emergency toilet down in the basement at one point in the proceedings the day the menfolk struggled with that evil thing on its way back down the stairs, access to the bathroom upstairs being totally cut off for the duration. It was one of those episodes where the womenfolk make themselves scarce in the kitchen and let the menfolk get on with it, muttering.

So anyway, he insists that he’s going to have An Office up there again someday. With Godzilla.

So I told him that he’ll have to wait until La Principessa is not only through college, but also has an apartment of her own. I think that by then, I’ll be able to persuade him to accept a Sauder Desk Kit from Office Depot instead of Godzilla.

Lot easier to get up the stairs.

Is Ladybug a website? She mostly frequents a handful of cross-stitch sites. The quilt she’s working on is a series of cross-stitch blocks someone made…

Heh. I asked the dentist if taking them out takes the wisdom out or just lets the wisdom flow through your noggin. He didn’t have an answer.
The right one is hurting now. That one was the more problematic one. Think I might take a pill.
BunderVob, your tales never cease to amaze me…the way you deal with the wife…

…oh yeah, and the EMT stuff, too.
God, second page and I’m already behind. Appropriate greetings where…um…appropriate…

Hey, LOUNE, did they tell you about using tea bag compresses? That really helped Faraway Best Friend when she had hers out in graduate school approximately 2 million years ago. You just soak a regular tea bag in water and apply to where your tooth used to be.

GT

They did not tell me this, but I do have gauze, an ice pack, and some cold water.
