Let's make a Sixth tape - A list MMP

Eeeek

Good evening, everyone. Oh, how wonderful it is to have no major pain! It really does feel so good when it stops.

Sunny, fingers, toes, and earlobes all crossed for good test results. I hope you find out tomorrow. If you don’t, you won’t have to wait until Monday, will you?

Sari, getting that diploma must feel pretty nice for both you and your son.

VOW, my mouse is bluetooth and doesn’t have a ball. I’m going to try cleaning the bottom surface with alcohol to see if it glides more smoothly, though, so thanks.

Correction: you have been assimilated. You are now an MMPer.

“One of us, one of us. We accept her, one of us.”

They still make ball mice? Thought those were obsolete.

To my relief, the Princess is abstaining from joining the “sick pet” event this week. She is a tad disoriented by both DH and me being gone all day now.

The callers haven’t been TOO awful lately, but the screwups and misinformation by “coworkers” (another call center company is our “front line”, then passes the less routine stuff, such as website support, to my crew) are causing a lot of issues and raising a lot of blood pressure.

Awake. Blurf. One can’t sleep all the time can one? Tis way too early so I think I shall try for some more sleep.

I would like to hit the store for geezer hour at 6am but I don’t know if they will let me in as I have not quite reached geezerdom. But who are they to tell me I’m too young with all my aches and pains?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I might go get a haircut today. Or not. Still willy-nilly on that. I need to get a haircut, but can’t decide whether or not I desire to be amongst the public. There may also be some quality cee-mint pond time. OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried chikin. I told him if’n he went and picked some up (no desire to fry here) I would come up with some side matter. If that does not happen, I have a strong feelin’ this will be a sammich kinda day.

Butters no one has ever asked me for ID when I’ve gone to geezer hour. Then again, I probably look the part so maybe they just don’t bother. Seriously, no one has ever like been at the door to check IDs. Go in your night gown and slap on a mask. They’ll never know! :mask:

Nellie glad you’re feelin’ better. May that continue.

LetterK Welcome! Come. Play. Post. You can even pick out your very own custom coaster!

doggio and Miss Owl nice to know Ruble is still makin’ his presence known.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, who knows. Onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Dance nekkid in the living room, of course!!

Actually, I intend to paint every room in the house, then we’ll have all the carpet replaced. The common areas (the stupid light colored stuff - what were we thinking??) is nearly 16 years old, and the bedrooms are at least 10 years old. And the tile in the kitchen is looking nasty (also 16 y/o) We plan to give the kids our dining room set and most of the living room furniture, so we’ll need to replace that. And with luck, the stink of Cozmo pee will go with all that stuff!

Honestly, I don’t know why that dog feels the need to mark, even after being here 2 years! I’m the only one who keep throwing him out every few hours - if I’m not here, they don’t pay attention, and he hikes his leg. Anyway, that’s the plan! They’ve found 2 places that my daughter is excited about, so fingers crossed. (Once they did some serious number-crunching, they discovered that they can afford more house than they’d originally thought!)

sari - congrats to your kid! I second swampy’s comment - he needs to start contributing to SS for us geezers, and for you eventually, too! What sort of work does he want to do?

Not sure what today will bring. FCD has PT at 8. There’s a slight chance of rain, but it looks like Fay will stay farther east than originally forecast. Two of my pots of herbs didn’t do anything, so I’ll try again to start them, but inside this time. And I need to head to WalMart   for a few things - I may do that early to get it over with.

And so it goes. Happy Firday!!

PS - I love having the preview pane right here - I can catch all my typos before posting!

I am honored and delighted (except maybe for that squid).

Please don’t hurt the squid’s feelings. He sort of… inks when he’s upset. It gets messy.

The sun hath appeared, the washing is out sunning, the car’s been vacuumed (a bit of a mission when living on the top floor), and not a whole lot else is happening around here. I’m vaguely planning a trip out t’moor in the evening to try see this 'ere comet what’s showed up, because it’s really really dark out there and it’s not all that far away. The forecast is for pretty clear skies,so there should be good stars at least.

That’s an exciting Friday night out for me now…

Afternoon, mumpers! Weather cannot decide between rain, drizzle, sun, cloud, cool or warm today so we’re having the lot, in no particular order.

sari, congrats to your son, I hope he finds work that really makes him happy.

Catdude!! Welcome back, don’t forget to bring your own coaster, lest you suffer the wrath of mooom

gotti, Gordon Ramsay has been around long enough to know the difference between a dog’s breakfast and a dog’s dinner. And there is a difference! Dog’s breakfast, as mentioned, is something that is a complete mess. A dog’s dinner tends to mean someone dressed inappropriately for the occasion/their age, “dressed up like a dog’s dinner” and “mutton dressed as lamb” were almost interchangeable when I was growing up, but the good old dog’s breakfast was something different. It may have been otherwise in the bit of the UK where nut grew up, I’m sure she can tell you if it is.

However the dog’s breakfast job from yesterday has stalled as we’re waiting for work to be marked by other people. Today’s joyous task has been done and all I have left to do is run some reports for Monday and look at the documentation for re-running module options as we’ve had to change a load of things for next year.

In other news…I applied for a job at a university in Scotland for which I am over-qualified. Technically it’s a step down from what I do now, but for some reason they have decided to offer me an interview. I’m not going to say no to that

Did I mention the shed is a bit shaky? It’s a frame structure, but it’s not done ‘properly’. My motto is, ‘If it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing.’ The economically-constructed frame doesn’t have proper siding. The only support is the bevel boards around it, and they’re ancient. That’s right the old bevel boards are structural ‘stressed skin’ members. :grimacing: What I’d like to do is to remove the bevel boards one side at a time, and clad the frame with OSB; then wrap the whole thing in Tyvek and but up new, non-structural bevel boards. Let’s see… Fifty or fifty-two 16-foot bevel boards at $2.20 per linear foot, plus tax equals… too much. I can’t afford it.

So I have another plan. I have that one extra sheet of OSB. I’ll lay it lengthwise inside of the shed to tie the frame posts together. I can get more OSB later and do this ‘wainscotting’ on the other three walls. That will give me peace of mind.

In other news, rabies shots for the cats today.

Oops. Twenty-six or twenty-seven 16-footers. The shed is eight feet square. Still can’t afford it.

Damg, dude, when you build a shed, you do it RIGHT! My Other Shoe would have thoroughly approved.

I’m apparently giving up a third day off to The Parentals and have no idea when the hell stuff like laundry is supposed to happen, but my dad promised to buy me a stud/wire/pipe finder at The Hardware Sto’ and I’m gonna let him so he can feel useful.

I do love the doddering old fool - as long as talk stays far, far away from politics, race, etc. - and my mother seems to be losing her sharpest edges. It’s possible that, me now being 40, she can’t keep thinking of me as a child in need of training.

It’s also possible that, me now being 40, I’m slightly better at shutting down other people’s bullshit.

TGIF to anyone for whom that still means anything!

So in case anyone was on tenterhooks wanting to know what I thought of the Night in the Woods game and if it lived up to the transcendent reviews… I got bored enough with it and quit playing it. I even looked it up on Wikipedia because I was wondering if it was supposed to get more interesting and what people were on about with the whole “this changed my life” thing and apparently, the story sort of gets more interesting, but not the gameplay. It’s more an interactive movie than a game. And it ~explores important themes~ like mental illness and socioeconomic issues and… I mean, that’s great, but I get enough Important Themes in day-to-day life. I’m looking for escapism, pure and simple.

I feel rather like someone who was shipwrecked a few days ago and is now alone in the middle of the ocean in a lifeboat. The isolation, the tedium, the impotent panic, the sense of doom, the helplessness (or limitedness). Like things are kind of crumbling around my ears and maybe if I were an experienced sailor and survivalist, I would have a chance, but I’m not. So while I feel like I should be hard at work 24/7 fixing everything, there’s not a lot I can actually do and there’s a lot nobody can actually do and the best I’ve got is to try to pass the time until tomorrow.

So I’ll watch another Avengers movie.

I wish I could do it right! I have about $700 in the new roof, which I really can’t afford. If I clad the outside with OSB, wrap it in Tyvek, and cover it with new bevel boards, that will be about another $2,000. It will have to wait. :frowning:

But at least putting OSB ‘wainscotting’ on the inside will make the structure more rigid, and it will only cost another $40.

Morning (or almost afternoon) all. Been lazy time, and considering it’s already 91F outside at 11:45am, lazy works alright for me. Do need to do some housekeeping and bathrooms need a cleaning, but that’ll get done…sometime.

Have read much but retained little, so hugs, tears, laughter and sarcasm as required for all.

Have a good Firday (oh my, it is firday already?)

It appears in this county, any property listed for under $300K is either snapped up in a day or two, or it’s not worth bothering with. When we were looking in the windows of one place Daughter was interested in, a realtor drove up with a client. She said there were already multiple bids on the place and tomorrow was the deadline for contracts. So that one ain’t gonna happen. We drove by another - a townhouse that was an end unit. The back windows looked across the street at the back of Kohl’s and Dick’s - so not an ideal location. Plus the neighborhood was only OK. The search continues.

Supper tonight will be steamed shrimp and salad and cornbread muffins. SIL is working till 8. Daughter is now finishing their loan applications. And I just finished a late lunch. Great excitement here.

Happy Firday!

Nice day today, wasn’t too hot at the park and I stayed for quite a while.
Like 3 and a half hours.
Different people were showing up and the pups were having a good time.

One of the women at the park fosters dogs and she brought her new foster puppy with her today. I fell in love with him. Some kind of hound mix, but he has green eyes, and a goofy smile on his face.
I, however, do not want three dogs, and I can’t take three dogs to the park anyway, unless I drag my son with me, and I have no idea how he would be with the cat.
NO MORE DOGS!
I hope one of the park regulars adopts him.

Came home and did some yard irk. Scared poor Antlers, didn’t know she was hiding in the weeds next to the house. She is such a tiny kitty.
So we got the weeds whacked, and we put weed killer on the stuff growing up through the sidewalk. Then we went out back and cut back the crap that keeps growing up through the fence and trimmed back the tree that needs to be cut down.

That y’all for the congrats for my son.
He didn’t fill out the application in time to get the job with my friend, although I think they are always hiring.
His idea of the perfect job is for his mother to leave him enough money that he can live off the interest.
Pretty cool job if you can get it.
He’s a good writer, so he could get a writing job, and there are jobs that pay you to grade papers. Now that he has a degree he is qualified for them.
It’s a start.
I just need a bigger foot with which to kick start him.

You could move to my county.
Houseing is still affordable up here.
Most of the houses up here are well under $300,000.

This house is nice https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/9804-Sharpsburg-Pike_Hagerstown_MD_21740_M68544-67854?view=qv

It’s be a long commute to their work…

There are lots of cheaper places across the river in Virginia, but they want to live in this county, so they’ve got to deal, alas.
