I woke before 5 and could not fall back to sleep. So I finally gave up and fired up this magical machine. I’d rather be sleeping, tho…
Daughter won’t be coming over for Father’s Day, tho she did call last night. School’s out, but she’s running a science camp this week and she’s in full panic mode right now, trying to get the last of the stuff done before tomorrow. So we won’t be seeing her.
It’s lovely and cool right now, and it’s not supposed to get too hot today or tomorrow, but by Weds or Thurs, summer returns with a vengeance. Our attic fan quit running and we really need to get into the attic and see what the deal is. We may need to replace it. Rah. The joys of being a homeowner… But it beats living in a refrigerator box.
That’s all I’ve got so far. It’s early, I’s tahred! Happy Father’s Day to all the Mumper daddies. And Happy Sunday to everyone else!
Thighs and one batch of laigs are done. The second batch of laigs is doin’ it’s thang as I post. Gotta get back to 'em soon. I shall then fry chikin boobs in two batches. Seven thighs, 14 laigs and 9 boobs ought to be enough fried chikin to make everybody happy.
MOOOOOOM I dunno, there are days when a refrigerator box looks good, like when da cave is a mess, the yahd needs mowin’ and stuff decides to break down or die. Just sayin’. Ok, reality is, livin’ indoors is a good thing, I suppose.
Good morning! Happy Sunday and happy Father’s Day to all the Dads.
Yesterday was errands day and today is do nothing day. We are going to go out for breakfast in a bit before the church crowd hits them movies this afternoon. No plans other than that. I am traveling again this week so trying to recharge a little.
Last batch of chikin boobs fryin’ away. YAY!!! Soon as that’s over I can purtify. Oh and I forgot to mention makin’ mac & cheese in the crockpot. I’ll post a recipe for it later. Truth be told, it’s easier to just make it the normal way but this way all I have to do is just let it cook so I chose to make the crockpot version. It’s good but tastes the same as the normal, faster version of mac & cheese.
Blah. A bit hungover from the regional Emmy awards last night in DC, today I have to do the final move out of the old house in Spotsylvania then I’m done.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. For the moment, it’s quiet and I’m letting everyone sleep in. Coffee has been made, though and I’m taking full advantage of the full pot.
Why can’t you use the washer and dryer, Spaz?
My daughter and her sweetie will be coming down for the day. I don’t know what time they’ll arrive. My son went out last night and stayed the night elsewhere. I’m not sure when he’ll get home either.
We had a good time with our friends last night, but then again, we always do.
Our restaurant streak continues. We went to a little local place and my omelet was forgotten. A couple that came in at least 5 minutes after we did had their food long before I got mine. The server was very apologetic. IMHO, the cooks blew it. I could see them at the grill, and several times, they looked befuddled. One of them has been there a while, but I’m not sure about the other.
After we ate, we ran by the pet stuff store to get 2 lights for the aquarium. The corals need a specific wavelength, and the lights we had were dying - one was just about gone. So now it’s nice and bright and the corals should be all happy and stuff.
I just threw together a marinade for a couple a steaks that **FCD **and I will have for supper. It was super simple and just enough for 2 small steaks, so yay! Still debating whether to fire up the grill or do it George Foreman style.
Another amazingly cool day - it’s nearly noon and it hasn’t hit 70 yet! I’m loving it!!!
Howdy Y’all! Home from Father’s Day feastin’ and a feast it was! Fried chikin, mac & cheese, green beans, squish casserole, rolls and chawklit cake. OYKW and I brought home two pieces of chikin each and piece of cake each for later. He’s at his place doin’ laundry and I have a load of whites washin’ away as I post. The way I’m feelin’ right now, there will be no chikin and cake eatage this evenin’. I’s stuffded!
MOOOOOOM crank up the grill. If the weather’s nice and grillin’ is an option, always go for the grill, I say.
I’ve got the sauce for lasagna going at a very low simmer. In about an hour or two, I’ll start grating and slicing the various cheeses and then start the lasagna noodles.
I’m making a big-ass pan of the stuff, but it will be eaten quickly.
Still waiting on the daughter and her sweetie. I’m kind of surprised they’re not down here yet, but I understand wanting to take it slow and easy on Sundays.
Supper was yum - steak (Foreman’d - I was too lazy to do charcoal) twice-baked spuds, carrots, and cauliflower.
**FCD **fixed our attic fan - somehow, two of the blades got bent (I suspect a critter) keeping it from spinning. It’s running now, tho, so yay!
And tomorrow, **FCD **will be heading to Johnstown again, and I need to drop him off at the office to pick up the truck and the fixture he needs to deliver. Which means I’ll be later checking in on the new MMP. I have an idea but I’ll save it and volunteer for the *next *MMP. So you’ve just gotta wait.
And on that note, I’m going back to my knitting. I’m making fingerless mitts - perfect for keeping most of your hands warm while texting! I’m hoping to sell them at the little store where I’ve got my pottery. I took a basic design and added some neat decorative details - I’m pleased with the results so far. Wonder if they’d sell for $20??
$20 seems like a fair price for something handknit, Mom. OK, not fair, but one that people would be willing to pay.
Buttercup, depending on the pattern and type of yarn you’re using, fingerless gloves can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a few days. They’re fun to knit, I think. (I’ve made 3 or 4 pairs.)
Brother is on his way to Barcelona for a conference. I dropped him at the airport then came home and roasted vegetables (made some roasted broccoli and also roasted a combination of zucchini, summer squash, red pepper, leeks and mushrooms. Broccoli needed a little more oomph - I’m going to add a bit of tomato sauce tomorrow, I think.
