Like a thief in the night......MMP

we may actually have a winner in the “really doesn’t work with “in bed” after it” category

I’m going to be a sweaty Betty in a little while. Except not too sweaty, now that I think about it. No treadmill - just hand weights. It’s funny, I’ve got great biceps - but my triceps are all batwingy. I entertained my cousins when they were here by swinging my arms so that my batflaps were in their full glory, while singing the Batman theme. I am so multitalented.

And the reason I know that I realllyyyy have to do my weights tonight (besides the fact that I skipped last night, which is when I should have done them) is that I ate ice cream this week. Not once, oh no, that’s too easy. 4 times in 7 days. A new record for me. And it wasn’t simple ice cream - it was Cold Stone Creamery and Maggie Moo’s. Ugh.

So much for cleaning!

#1 son and I had a contretempts of sorts. He was on the phone in the basement; I was coming down the stairs to get choc chips from the pantry (I made cookies tonoc). My husband must have been ironing while we were at the mall. Ironing board is out and shirts and spray starch are lying on it.

In front of my eyes, a scene of destruction occurred. #1 son brushes by the ironing board, knocking over the iron (not on, thank God). In doing so, he also knocks over the can of spray starch, which impales itself upon the pointy end of the iron. The aerosol can explodes from the impact, spraying starch all over the shirt, TV, rug, concrete floor, dehumidifier and pantry.

We just laughed and laughed. The can was like something posessed. Lord, did it stink, though–heavy perfumey smell. #1 son got out the rug shampooer and we cleaned it up.
I’m almost afraid to pack, now…

Just think of it as a diversion, rigs… Sounds plenty dramatic.

I got the house reasonably clean before company arrived. We’ve played computer games, gone out to dinner - Chinese - don’t have my fortune with me, but it was actually a pretty good one; I’ll post it later. Came home, watched National Treasure, and now I’m exhausted…

Off to bed…

Nonsense. You just have to get creative:

Reach for the stars, but keep one foot firmly planted in bed.

picked up at work today:

You are original and creative

Speak only well of people and you never need to whisper

The weather is wonderful

Your dearest dream is coming true

You will soon be involved in many gatherings and parties

Your emotional nature is strong and sensitive

and my favorite:

A wise man knows everything. A shrewd one, everybody.
mmm… vegetable soup and cornbread sounds goood. Actually, if I have time tomorrow I’ll go get the ingredients and make some cornbread. I’m the only one in the family who likes vegetable soup, so I’ll skip that part- but everyone loves cornbread.

FCM- I love reading about your clay and pottery stuff  do you have any pictures of the things you make? If so, I’d love to see.
I have a full 24 hours ahead of me with NO WORK and NO SCHOOL. yay! I have to clean my room, though.

I THOUGHT I was supposed to see Rent tomorrow, but I haven’t heard from my friend in almost a week… I’ve tried calling him, e-mailing… I don’t know when he’s picking me up, whether the tickets he got are for the evening show or the matinee, or if he even GOT tickets for that matter. I guess I’ll call him tomorrow morning again and see. Or be really cool and dress up in the morning and just clean my room while I wait. If he comes, I’ll be ready. If he never shows, then I’ll have a clean room.

I am now Corresponding Secretary of the Columbus Cottonmouths Booster Club!

At the game last night (Friday) I bought tickets for the 50-50 raffle, which I usually don’t do. I’m so glad I did, because I won $132, which gave me enough available money to go to the jersey auction after the last regular season game tonight. I was able to get the jersey of one of my favorite players - and it was great to see the big grin on his face when he saw who had won it! I won’t actually get the jersey until after the playoffs, but that’s ok. I’m going on a road trip to Huntsville next Saturday for a playoff game, so I’ll get to see him in it. (It’s the black “away game” jersey, which they don’t often wear for home games.)

This morning when I went to the bank to deposit my lucky money, I was witness to one of the rudest people I have ever seen in my life. An elderly woman was unbelieveably rude to a bank teller for no reason I could tell. I felt so bad for the girl - she looked stunned after the woman had stalked from the bank. Why do people act like that? The tellers in this bank are always so nice and go out of their way to be helpful, and this old bitch acted like…well, like an old bitch.

On a happier note - I have a new game-worn hockey jersey!!

I did upload pics of the stuff from the last 2 classes and I know I’ve bored folks here plenty with the links, but since you asked…

These are the ones I made in my first class, and these are from the second class. I believe 4 of my creations are in the hands of Dopers so far. Pics of the stuff from the third class will be posted some time after Easter - that’s when they’ll be glazed and I’ll get them back. It’ll also be when the fourth class starts.

No, I’m not obsessed. I’m just having fun playing in mud. And I promise you it has nothing to do with Patrick Swayze and Ghost.

No, I think I’m okay. I’m sure I’ll die eventually, just not right now.

And yes, today is Lunch with Spats, Take 2. Which is good, because I’m really looking forward to those pancakes.

Good morning one and all. I’m up, the coffee is made, and here I sit.

You’ll have to be sure and tell us all about the lunch Drae and Spats.

FCM, we’re never bored by your creative works. I can’t wait to see the next set of creations.

Mr. Taters has joined a softball league through his work. They had the first practice yesterday, so they could practice hitting and fielding. Unfortunately, not everyone showed up. He said had quite a lot of fun. He came home rather mud spattered though. The field was soggy from all the recent rains. One of the balls bounced right into a puddle and just SPLLLLAAAAAATTERED him. He had mud everywhere. He looked pretty funny.

Yay Snakescatlady! Congrats.

Last night’s pot roast was very yummy and very tender. My son scarfed quite a bit of it down. I have chicken boobies out for tonight.

Well, off to cruise some more of the net now.

Last chance for someone else to claim tomorrow’s MMP. I’ve got an idea floating in my head that will become a post by the end of the day. But it’s not time-dependent, so if someone else feels compelled to start tomorrow, I can save it for another time - no big.

Just speak up before this evening, because I go to bed early…

Wish us luck! The boat is out of the garage, the hubby is going to put fresh gas in there and then he’ll be back. We’ll put the little doo-hickey on the motor and attach the hose to it to it and try and turn the motor over. We haven’t ran the boat since last September or October.

If we can get the motor to turn over, we’ll head on out to the lake.

Go for it, FCM. I am at work tomorrow (boo, hiss). My last 12 before our vaca!

I am sick of shopping–I am not a shopper. I have been getting stuff for the trip and have hit overload. Bleh.

Nice day outside today. Crocuses in bloom.

well, I’m wiped out. Yesterday was a bizzzy day, today only slightly less. And I’d love to take a nap now (on the way home I was mulling over what an odd phrase “take a nap” actually was) but the guy is working on the apartment kitchen (which is below my bedroom) and being very noisy. (how rude  ) Now the tought part is going to be scraping together the fund so he can finish off the rest of the place with the painting and carpeting. Keep your fingers crossed I can rent the space out by May 1st (I could really use the income)

No Rent for me. :frowning: He got called into work.

so after I clean my room, I’ll try to con my sister into going to Blockbuster with me. yay movies! We’ll get silly girly movies or cartoons or something.

Another vote for an FCM MMP. FCMMP? Idunno. Fairy Chat Monday Morning Post. Sounds good to me.

So, lunch today actually worked instead of me being late. We met, we waited, we went to a bookstore, we chatted, we ate, and fun was had by all. It was good getting to meet another MMPer, and Drae’s roommate Mandy came along as well. I promised to hang out with them again when I’m next home in Jersey, and you’d better believe I’m going to the RenFaire this summer.

And now I have to pack! EEE!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Snakes! I know how much you love the team so good for you. Also, Yay on the auction thingy!

Dottie (that’s what I’ve decreed you to be in my mind) I have this piece of FCM pottery. One day I shall be able to sell it for bajillions of dollars as one of her early works. For now, it occupies a place of honor on my 'puter desk along with a painting by picunurse (where the heck is she, btw?) made in honor of swampfest, a dopefest held last May in Seattle, where I got to meet her, Taters, Bumba and DenMum along with a lot of other uber cool dopers at a dopefest they named in my honor. Those four plus FCM are the MMP cool kids I have met in person. FCM earned the honor of being named a cheap date. I’ll let her fill in the details.

BTW, here’s another vote for FCM to do the MMP. It’s gettin’ near her bedtime but hopefully she’ll see it.

I am all recuperated from the St. Patty’s Day dinner. Today I went to church where we continued the celebration with our traditional singing of this hymn which is attributed to St. Patrick. I love the music. It sounds like a bunch of drunk Irish sittin’ around in a pub. Afterwards, we came home (ACBG went to church with me) and I made yet another skillet (I use an iron skillet, the only proper way to make cornbread) of cornbread and heated up some veggie soup. We also grilled some chicken boobs to go along with the soup, so lunch was tres yum! ACBG went to his house shortly after lunch to do some laundry and I took a nap. Then I took stuff off my back porch that I don’t want washed, cause tomorrow, while I am at work, my house is getting pressure washed. I don’t have to be here for that because it’s all outside stuff. Oh, and just for welby, even though I didn’t choose him just because of this, pressure washer guy does indeed have rippling muscles and looks dang good in his jeans! :stuck_out_tongue: ACBG agrees with me.

Ok, I’m off to have a nice soak in the tub and chill for a while. Have a great night everybody! I’ll see y’all in the MMP tomorrow.

OK, I’ve got tomorrow’s MMP ready to go. Rather than confuse everyone again this week, I’ll post it in the morning before I leave for work.

Met with my friend for lunch - it was nice. The food was good. The conversation was nice, too. She’s a Navy reservist and she’s about to be activated again. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - there’s something seriously wrong with a war that requires activation of 50-year-old women (or men) to fight it. She thinks she may wind up in Bahrain this time. What a world…

I finished my laundry and did some ironing today. It’s been a good, if cold, day. Now I need to pack a lunch for tomorrow. 'Cause I get to go back to work. Yay.

Like I had a choice. swampy ordered himself a nice dinner with salad and a beverage, and I had to drink some tepid water and gnaw on a few stale saltines that were left on the table… :frowning:

:stuck_out_tongue:

OK, so maybe I exaggerate. We dined at Whitey’s Fish Camp and we both had the broiled scallop dinner, which came with salad and fries and hush puppies. And I just drank water because that’s all I drink when I eat out. And he had a beer. So even tho he was on an expense account, he got off cheap, since Whitey’s is not a pricey place, although the scallops were yummerrific!

Anyway, when the check came, swampy remarked on how inexpensive the meal was - we didn’t have appetizers or dessert either - and I was declared to be a cheap date. So, OK, I’m cheap, but not easy. And he’s a good date, for a gay guy!

Another vote for an FCMMP. Maybe it should contain those letters in the title so that we’ll get a new round of questions about what the heck it is…

Yay SCL! Excellent work and excellent luck on the auction!

Glad the Jersey lunch happened, Drae and Spats!

Dot, I am another proud owner of FCM pottery (with a certificate of authenticity and everything!). Mine is the second lidded pot on page two of the pics from the second class. It serves the important purpose of storing rubber bands for the ball of rubber bands my niece is putting together. She took a load home with her today, as a matter of fact. Took me a second to decipher the “No Rent for me” sentence because rosie was talking about real-life rent in the previous post. Wondered what no rent had to do with getting called in to work… Sorry you missed out; maybe another time.

I’m tired. I spent all of yesterday afternoon and just about all of today entertaining my bro and his kids. We had a nice time, although it gets kind of tiring after about 1/2 a day since this is a pretty small space. They tend to take over my laptop and pretty much everything else and I start to feel like I’m not that good at sharing.

So now I’m trying to figure out where my weekend went and what I can still do tonight. Did laundry yesterday. I think there’s still something in the dryer. While I’m deciding, I’m watching Sabrina and then maybe Serenity. I have an exciting speaking engagement first thingish. (I’ll be writing it before I go out to give it; well just updating notes from a previous talk, actually.)

Falling asleep…maybe I’ll nap instead…
