Like a Virgin -- The Noob MMP

Up early, waiting for daughter to arrive. We’ll leave around 7 or shortly thereafter for the wilds of Harford County - not quite as bad a drive as **BBBobbio **has, but the truck doesn’t have cruise control, so that will suck. Oh well…

**Brick **- hereare some of the things I made in my first college class, except for the tape dispenser - I made that in the second class. I took several classes at a community center, but those were posted on a site that no longer exists and I didn’t feel like uploading them again. Especially since many of my early pieces are rather sucky. Every once in a while, I score a winner. I’m hoping having a good studio setup and a new teacher will get me back on track…

**Pearl **- that cake reminds me of a recipe I got in Home Ec a gazillion years ago. You made the cake in a sheet pan, and when it came out of the oven, you used an ice pick to poke holes all over it before pouring on the jello - that way it penetrated and you had cool stripes thru the cake. Altho the one was made didn’t taste all that great - but it did look cool when sliced.

**rosie **- amen on the suckitude of humidity!

Happy Firday, all! I’ll try to check in after I get back home. Unless I don’t.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

No, rosie, I don’t believe anyone has ever mentioned any issues with humidity.

Added Pearl’s cake recipe to the blog. My grandma used to make that cake, too, FCM. I liked it at the time; not sure what I’d think of it today, though.

Gotta get out to water plants. It’s been hot enough again to require it.

Happy Firday, all.

Hugs.

I’ll second that TGIF, Butter! Welcome! (We have been getting lots of newbies in here! Yay!)

Somebody asked what I got from Moomm. I got a very pretty small white cup with a dark blue design repeated around the top. I also got what Mr Rebo called a “wizard hat.” 'Cept it’s flat bottomed. It’s cool - it has a floppy “brim” with stars all around it. I love them! Thanks, FCM. I’ll try to get some pictures uploaded this weekend.

Guess what? Mr Rebo’s friend has extra tickets to the Houston Texans vs New Orleans Saints tomorrow night! W00t! I’ve never been able to go to a pro football game - not since way back when when the Oilers played. COOL!!! It will be fun!

Ok - better at least look like I’m working. Ta-ta!

Rebo gonna paint your face?

It’s eerily quiet at irk. The phones are not ringin’. This can only mean one of two things. Either the phones ain’t workin’ or everybody else on Earth but us has been wiped out. Ok, maybe it’s just early yet but that’s no fun.

Well, the sauce didn’t come out near as saucy as the picture with the recipe implied. I think they pureed everything after cooking it. It was megayum, though. We mixed it with Italian sausage and made epic baked ziti with it. Next time we’re going to double the amount of tomatoes and tomato paste.

Tomorrow we head to the suburbs of Charlanta to see The Folks. We’re staying with The Dad and Stepmom of The Boys while we’re down there which will wreak merry hell with my allergies. They smoke. Inside.

humidity is down this morning - so I am less blurfy, but still cranky.

FRRIIIIIIIDDDDDAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY! :D:D

Tis hot and hoooooomid here in OK also.

Still working on the spreadsheets of doom today.

I belive I might indulge in a glass or two of wine this evening.

Later!

That’s always bad juju for a helldesk. Invariably, it means the phones are down, and when they’re back up, you’ll be slammed with cranky people who are predisposed to be pissed off because they haven’t been able to reach anyone for hours.

Or, it could mean a new system is working perfectly. As luck has it, I’m manning a help line for a new request entry system here, and the only call I’ve had today was from a robot attendant telling me that the line will be dropped for non-use unless I press 1. It’s Y2K all over again.

Had a new experience today - a friend was in for surgery and their husband was doing updates on Facebook. She’s in recovery now, and in about an hour, it’s expected she’ll be back to her room.

That is to say, getting blow-by-blow surgical updates on Facebook was a new experience. I’ve had plenty of friends go in for surgery, but it’s always been someone calling or emailing well after the fact.

Does anyone know much about cervical spine injuries, herniated discs, headaches and ADD? While I’ve been having monster neck pain and headaches, I just seem to be a bit scattered. Definitely something I’ll be asking the doc about next Tuesday when I see him next, but was wondering if anyone had any anecdotal thoughts.

Well, crap. Here I was thinking I’d been all clever & original :stuck_out_tongue: Ah well, It was still good cake… And mine wasn’t striped, my jelloey gooness is evenly distributed all over the cake. Thanks for posting the recipie to the blog, GT! I was gonna ask about that.

Gotpasswords, hope your back feels better.

obligatory drive by.

Hi y’all!

Wow you’ve got some serious talent, Moooooom! The tape dispenser is my favorite. This reminds me of a friend I had in college. She was an art major and lived in a crummy, infested off-campus apartment. She made large, stomped-on ceramic cockroaches complete with a footprint.

Happy T.G.I.F. all! Man am I glad this week’s over!

Bri2k

gotti dunno about ADD but seems to me headaches could easily go along with cervical spine injuries and herniated discs. Neck pain and headaches go hand in hand and pain could make anybody a little scatter brained.

It’s the weekend!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!111 I’m havin’ a beerverage to celebrate and Papa John’s pizza is on the way. Life be good!

I agree with swampy, gotti. I think any type of pain is going to make it hard to concentrate.

Home. Waiting for brother and nephew to get here so that we can have dinner. Need to go to the grocery for milk, potatoes and possibly other stuff.

Tired.

Back with something more coherent later…

Hugs.

Pizza good! Beerverage good! Soak in jacuzzi bathtub good!

I’s home. Actually, I got back around 1630.

The old VunderLair is OK, but the yahd was knee-deep and pokeweeds were everywhere. Doug The Neighbor started mowing for me, while I cut down the pokeweeds and hauled peecan limbs to the pile.

I have even more apples this year than usual, but it will be the first sparse season for peecans since I got that house. Doug and I were looking, and we agreed to split the one nut we found growing…

New agent is partially signed. VWife has to do her part, and I’ll overnight the stack of papers to him tomorrow. He promised an HTG “For Sale” sign to be out by Wednesday.

He showed me my old agent’s listing, so she did do something

My fanny is whupped, so I will be getting my ugly sleep soon.

Oh, Swampy, just for you I’ll make mention of coming face-to-face with the vicious [del]12 inch long and big around as a pencil[/del] copperhead [del]that headed for the hills when he saw me[/del] dripping venom when I came out of the crawlspace today.

:eek::eek::eek:SNAKE!!! AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGH!!!

I felt obligated to freak out.

Speakin’ of pee-cans, the pee-can trees at the church house are full. The guy we contract to mow the yahd has all the necessary tree shakin’ and pee-can gatherin’ equipment. He offered to split the haul 50-50. I’m all for it. He does the work we get fifty percent of the profit. I say win-win!

Home, exhausted, but showered and fed, so there’s that. We managed to get the last of our stuff out of the attic, plus the boat (it’s a 10’ dinghy) plus a bunch of swag for daughter’s classroom from both Mom and my sister. Poor **FCD **spent the day fighting with plumbing, but we think it’s good to go now. I’ll go downstairs in a few to make sure it’s not leaking. Tomorrow, daughter is coming over early and we’re going to paint. She’s giving us her morning, so that’s nice.

**Brick **- I’m really not that good but I am particularly proud of the tape dispenser. I plan to make a few more and try to sell them when I do craft shows again. What I really wanted to do was put duck decals down the length of the “tape.” Maybe on the next one.

**swampy **- when we moved the boat from Mom’s shed, there was a snake living under it - probably a corn snake/rat snake. It shook its tail, and from research, I just learned that it’s a fear response. Anyway, cool snake, but it freaked out my mom. I think daughter would like to have one, but too many people at the school are freaked out, so she can’t have one there. Bummer.

That’s all I’ve got. It’s late and I’m tired. MWAH!!
