I’ll be the first to admit this story may not result in anything. Were it anyone else but this tragic misfit it wouldn’t get any notice at all. But, she worked hard to earn this bad rep and now she’s stuck with it. That little shoplifting caper last year had the touch of a real pro. A friend distracts the clerk while she nabs the necklace. Walks out of the store wearing it. Geez that’s some arrogance there. I can’t see a novice pulling that off so smoothly. She would have gotten away with it, except for the security cameras.
She may luck out. The cops may not ever find those dudes that she brought with her. Or they may not say anything. Heck, there’s always a chance she just happened to be at the scene of a burglary.
It’s a Hollywood party, I think hookers and blow should just be assumed. I’d almost call it the default.
Which is what makes it funny.

So far, this story is pretty thin. There’s a Hollywood party, someone invided Lindsay, Lindsay brought a few friends, including two unnamed dudes. Party goes on all night and until noon the next day. Some point that day, guy notices some expensive jewelry items et al are missing. He calls cops, and tells his guests not to leave. Cops show up, they question Lindsay. She realizes with her rep and record, she’s going to be a suspect, so does the smart thing and asks “Are you aresting me?” The standard response any lawyer will tell you is to ask “Are you arresting me? Am I free to go?” Do not jeopardize yourself by talking without a lawyer. That’s what she does.
Homeowner accuses Lindsay’s unnamed friends. Why? Because they were the sketchiest looking folks there? Because they were the ones he didn’t know best? Because Lindsay brought them?
What evidence suggests Lindsay was a part of it? Her prior shoplifting event where she used an accomplice to distract the clerk?
There’s a lot of speculation and little actual evidence. Certainly appropriate for the cops to ask her questions, certainly appropriate to find out about her “friends” and give them a good vetting. But they should be considering everyone there, unless there’s more to go on than “Lindsay was at this party, therefore she did it”.
The article doesn’t say anything more. Conceivably, the friends left but Lindsay was still around. Also noted, the party went all night and till noon the next day. Not hard to make something leave the premises during that time, and either get stashed in a vehicle or elsewhere. Cops need more to go on for searches.

Wrong. The funniness is what made it funny. The rudeness just makes it *extra *funny.
So to sum up, Lindsay Lohan isn’t in trouble again, and this time it isn’t really serious (because as far as we know she hasn’t done anything wrong).
Unless, aceplace57, she could be charged with a war crime for going shopping?

Let’s say she’s not a Saint. Or on the list to become one. Personally, it wouldn’t bother me if she plays frisbee-golf with halos. That said, sunglasses? Those things people lose when they are out drinking? :dubious:
Hypothetical: Lets propose there is a small business which requires personal appearances as well as an awful lot of behind the scenes effort and networking. Assume that while its always good for business to be seen happy and smiling,
no one can stay in business long saying ‘yes’ to everything that’s asked of them. Suppose an amatuer with very little idea how things worked proposed a casual after party meeting to discuss a project, but that the amatuer thought the small business would say yes to a deal…
or worse believed the ‘press’ and thought the night would end with a sunrise & a smile from someone, anyone, who works at that small business.
But reality hits like a cold shower. So, whats an amatuer thing to do? When the company says no and the amatuer sees no return on the party investment, call the cops & try to sell it that way? This is what it seems like to me.
Cops in that neck of the woods probably need a rubber stamp for some police reports: “Feet Stamping Tantrum”
100 grand. Serious money. Cops may have trouble making a case. Homeowner recanted story. I wonder what that cost somebody? :dubious:

I am not understanding the train of thought here. . .
Cops are investigating independent of the homeowner. They have witnesses.
The homeowner changing his story sounds odd. Maybe he got reimbursed for the missing items? I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
I got a feeling Lindsay will walk again. They needed the homeowner’s cooperation to make a solid case.
If she lived in the deep south she would live in one half of a double wide.
He realized he was mistaken just after he found out his screenplay was being looked at. Everyone in LA has a screenplay, so this is a common occurence.
