I got cherries my second day playing. It was pretty sweet!
Can we swap fruit through the online play? Is that a thing?

Yes, you just have to visit their town or invite them over to yours and then you can trade almost anything. I believe I’ve got every fruit now, if there’s something you need I can probably give you some.
Well, you can certainly take fruit (thanks Terraplane!), so I don’t see why you couldn’t drop some off.
Well, we’re apparently full up 3DS friends now, but when I go to the train season I have no “faraway cities” that I can visit on the list…
You have to open your gates before somebody can visit, mine are closed at the moment but I’ll open them up now.
Also, if you come by and I’m afk, help yourself to any of the fruit, but please don’t run through, or run off with, any of the flowers. Other than that feel free to check out anything you’d like.
IIRC, don’t I visit a “dream version” of your village, so none of the havoc I cause is recorded on your end?
I had no idea that this required time coordination. Monday’s Canada Day, so I got time this weekend to work on that and figure it out!
You can do dream visits, but those are really only good for checking out other towns to see how other people have done it, you can’t interact with them or trade anything. If you have somebody’s friend code though you can actually visit their town, trade, chat (well, sort of, the chat interface is awful), and yes, cause havoc. That last part is generally frowned upon and won’t get you invited back, but almost everybody I’ve met has been cool. Don’t trample the flowers, chop down the trees, or buy their fortune cookies without asking and you’ll be fine.
Once you visit somebody, you can become ‘best friends’ which lets you IM them as long as you’re both playing AC and have your 3DS connected to WiFi. It makes coordinating a visit much easier, but the first time around requires either some coordination or just luck.
Anyway, let me know when you think you might be on (I’m CST so if you’re in a different time zone tell me so I can adjust) and I’ll try to have my gate open. Town name is Pawnee.
I just got the Animal Crossing a couple of days ago, but feel free to visit my little burg of Dystopia. I’m open right now and can leave it up for an hour if anyone wants to visit. It’s currently daytime since I’m living in China.
Fortune cookies?
Ooo, fortune cookies! You can buy them at the Nooklings’ store using the coins earned by walking around with the 3DS in sleep mode. The cookies contain tickets that can be redeemed for rare Nintendo-themed items (super mushrooms, the Triforce, a Mario kart, etc.), with the occasional common item thrown in.
Oooh…that actually sounds cool!
I wonder if this game has NES roms like the gamecube one did…
No NES games. They pretty much shot that idea with the Virtual Console for the Wii/WiiU and 3DS. Why give them away for free if you can charge $5 each?
One carryover from the original Animal Crossing appears to be the existence of permanent dirt patches – areas that resist grass growth despite the planting of trees or flowers. I’m seeing grass regrowth in some spots though.
Anyone want to visit my town? My gates will be open almost all day. I’m on the hunt for a wetsuit and a slingshot.
This would be the first time I either leave my place or have someone over, so… I want to make sure I’m doing it right. I invighted guests from far away to come visit at the train station, and the gate opened. That’s how you get guests, right?
I posted this in the original Animal Crossing thread, but wanted more people to see it. So, I’m here! Thanks in advanced if anyone can make it.
…I added some of you to my friends list…
I’m taking intermittent breaks from AC, but I would greatly like to visit someone’s towns and chop down all their–I mean, plant peaches in their yard…
I kid. Seriously, add me. I tend to go online between 11pm and 1:30 AM, EST. My city runs 12 hours behind, so that I can actually play the daytime while I’m curled in bed.
I also need to find a partner for Mario Tennis!
I play most evenings, 8 PM - 10 PM ET (though my system clock is rolled back at least a couple of hours).
Which one of you turkeys was mayor Scott? That was the first village I visited.
I did not know houses could have floors. I liked it! Your town is lovely. Your town song needs to be more tonal for my liking.
Regards,
Mayor Maci
City of Mooney
That was fun. Maybe I can visit you sometime.
