Little old ladies like my cooking

Yesterday, at work, we had the dedication of our newest apartment building. It was the usual, speech by the local State Senator and the local State Representative, remarks from the local Mayor, ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the building, topped off with munchies and punch.

I made a batch of cheese crisps for the munchin’ part. They are one of my favorite munchies and IMHO, one of the ultimate munchies with beer. The little old ladies who always show up for such things just ranted and raved over the cheese crisps. They wanted to know what bakery they came from. HUMPH! bakery indeed! They were all impressed to learn that said crisps were, indeed, homemade! They clamored, they raved, they begged for the recipe. They hailed me as the **CHEESE CRISP KING! **

Little ol’ ladies. God love em!

CHEESE CRISPS
2 sticks butter
1 8 oz. package extra sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups self-rising flour
2 cups of Rice Krispies
cayenne pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Allow butter and cheese to soften
Grate cheese, then cream butter, cheese and pepper together
Add in flour 1 cup at a time
Add in rice krispies
Pinch off dough and roll into balls. Flatten balls with a fork dipped in flour.
Place on baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes until golden

Find a bunch of little ol’ ladies and watch em rave.
Swampbear - Chef Supreme (hey, who am I to argue with little old ladies)

Doesn’t human taste disappear with age?..

What do Rice Crispies taste like?

Aren’t those the little white things that look like albino mouse turds?

I have this odd picture in my head of female seniors in house-dresses dancing around a nightclub, waving around lightsticks while listening to techno.

Make it stop!

Hey, that sounds good, and it especially suffices in the “clog my arteries” department. Just one question: How much is 2 sticks of butter in cups/mL/tbsp/whatever? I don’t buy my butter in a stick…

 Yumm…

Arwin, two sticks of butter is half a pound or one cup.

And dang it! What’s the point of eating cheese without half a pound of butter too? (Must make cheese crisp…)
-Rue.

Sorry, swampbear, couldn’t resist. I shall beg your forgiveness. :smack:

See? That was a self-smack.

On second thought, after reading the recipe I’m getting a bit hungry. I love Rice Krispies, and cheese is one of my favorite foods. Not doing anything tomorrow. Maybe I’ll make some crisps…

(they sound like cheese balls to me…)

CRorex Rice Krispies taste like nothing. That’s why as a cereal they are best drownded in sugar and milk and fruit. And you’re right. That’s what they look like. They just add a great crunch to cheese crisps.

Rue they are chocked full of cheesy buttery goodness. Ya can make 6-8 dozen of em depending on how small ya wanta roll those little balls of cheese dough. I’m sure Katcha will think they’re jake.

Arwen what Rue said.

[sub]waiting for the inevitable “old lady” crack hurled in my general direction[/sub]

Actually, they do sound rather tasty. I don’t know that they merit a coronation (king, indeed), but if that small victory in you sorry life means so much, far be in from me to tinkle on your Rice Krispies…

Isn’t this what Scottish people eat when they’re dieting?

See, here’s proof that little ol’ ladies everywhere are wild about cheese crisps.

Do we need to change our Depends dear? :stuck_out_tongue:
