Live from Raleigh, It's the MMP!

Should we start puttin’ in orders for teal and purple blankets?

Yay for finished blankie Spaz!

{{{Nettie}}} feel better!

I made my trip up to the north forty and am now at the orifice. Lots of little, annoyin’ stuff to deal with today. Ya know, irkin’ in a people profession is good except for havin’ to deal with people.

Next up is cross-stitch. That will also probably take a year, but that’s due to the amount of detail, not a comment on my skill.

Cute little piggies, giggity.

Speakin’ of piggies, a facebook friend and also one of my co-deheathenators, posted a pic of a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig pig who had wondered into his yard late yestiddy afternoon. Turns out a neighbor was watchin’ the pig for a friend who is out of town (hey, pigs need tlc too!) and left the gate unlocked accidentally so Miss Piggy wondered on over into my friend’s yard. Friend posted again a few minutes later that his neighbor came over, apologized and took Miss Piggy back home. Ya just can’t make up stuff like this!

Good thing they caught it in time. A pig will rip a yard up in less than an hour rooting for food.

Back from a quick run to Food Lion. They’ve got the butter bread we like on sale, so I got 2 loaves for the freezer, plus a big jar of peanut butter, since I’m guessing **FCD **will live on cereal, PB&J, and hot pepper cheese with pretzels while I’m gone. Oddly enough, some ice cream fell into my cart  plus a dozen eggs - I’ve got an older dozen that I’m going to make into egg salad, but he does know how to fry an egg, so he’ll have some for that too.

The patched spots on the wall are drying nicely, thanks to the fan aimed right at them. In a little bit, I’ll wipe down the rest of the wall. **FCD **is napping at the moment, and when he gets up and finishes sanding the repairs, I’ll touch up the paint. Rather than buy a quart, most of which would be wasted, we got a gallon, most of which will be used to cover the purple in the basement bathroom.

Carpet will be cleaned later today, and piano will be brought back out tomorrow. And we’ll move the armoire from the blue bedroom to the green one, giving a bit more space to the more-used guest room. Now, if only I can convince my sweetie to make a chair or small bench for that room…

Good afternoon everyone. I had a problem getting online this morning. IT came and told it it’s because my phone had stopped working. Okay, if you say so. Of course, they fussed around with my phone for a half hour before figuring out that the guy next to me also had his phone out of service, and that we’re on the same line. That quickly sped up their troubleshooting, and it only took them another 15 minutes to decide that there was a problem with the line we have in common.

Sometimes I really do feel like the smartest person in the room here at times.

2gig, squee, peeegs! Thanks for adopting the oldsters. Will you get them a cavy condo?

lieu, my ophthalmologist has seen many cases where idjits put Krazy Glue into their eyes instead of eyedrops. Who keeps Krazy Glue next to eyedrops???

I have known some people in my life who would do the same thing.

Got VOIP phones? I haven’t been sufficiently curious to look up how it’s all lashed together, but my office is a VOIP floor, and our LAN connections are through the telephone. My uncle Alexander would have never imagined such things.

The most exciting part of my weekend? Cleaning the toe space (or kick space) between the kitchen cabinets and the floor. I have ceramic tile and there was greasy gunk under that space. I wash the floor every week but nothing gets up grease better than Goo Gone, old socks, and elbow grease. I’m now proud of my shiny clean floor. Do I win for the most boring household task?

Yeah, I guess that’s what it is. But it still shouldn’t have taken them 45 minutes to look at my phone, look at the desk next to me, and then say,“Hmm, maybe there’s something common that would knock out both of these phones/connections that are right next to each other.” I’m not an IT guy, but basic troubleshooting of anything has an early step of “Let’s see if anything else is affected.”

Beer!
Who’s getting the beer, you, FCD, or Doggio? :stuck_out_tongue:

How else do you get contacts to stay in??? :o

Boring but strenuous - dang! I just cleaned my kitchen floor, but I used a wet vac thingie. It probably would have been easier to use a sponge mop and bucket, but I already had the other thingie out to clean the carpets, so with a quick switch of the head, I went from one room to the next. Anyway, it’s done.

Steak for supper, smashed N.O.T.s, and some sort of vegetable matter. That was an easy decision.

My bro told my mom we should take the train from Heathrow to London the day we get there. Except our hotel is not at the airport, nor is it near any train or tube. And we won’t get to the hotel till 3PM, at which point we will likely have been awake for 28 hours. My sense of adventure doesn’t include navigating an unfamiliar public transport system in an unfamiliar city when exhausted. I told my mom as much and she agreed. Frankly, I liked our plan to just relax at the hotel and get a good sleep before heading to the cruise ship. Stoopit brother… :stuck_out_tongue:

He doesn’t like beer. His beverage of choice is fireball whiskey. So :stuck_out_tongue: to you!!

Afternoon all! Wow, cutie piggies, 2gig. Good on you for adopting the older ones, that was a long time they’d been there too, so doubly good on you. Yay for the blanket, Spaz, it looks good!

Today is my son’s first day with classes; he’s also coaching the JV football team so that part of the job started a while back ago. LOL This is a Charter School (Mission and Achievement), which focuses on students who have had problems learning and studying and achieving, and when it started it was a Middle School, but this is the first year they’ve had ninth grade (HS) students. My son got his masters this spring, so this is his first teaching job! He’ll be working with 7th and 8th graders (yes, the hormones will be busting in many of them!). I’m hoping that his day will go as smoothly as possible.

We’ve got some ribs in the oven, a low and slow oven, and boy howdy are they smelling good. I know we’ll have a great dinner tonight. Hope everyone has a good day today. And Sean, you might just be the smartest person in the office today - have to LOL at IT sometimes!!

My big sis is in town, a major grocery chain (HEB) is going to announce who won a food artisan competition for 10-25k and have the product featured in their stores; a “Primo Pick.”

Tha’d be cool.

You’re gone for a month, that’s a long time for Doggy to convert FCD.

(OTOH, Fireball whiskey is good, too.)

What is the melting point of lead?

Pretty blanket Spaz

2Gig I love guinea pigs and those two are too cute.

We made today pizza day, Sah-son asked and so we switched. It’s been a rough day anyway. Argument with my mother.
Two friends had a bit of a spat and I heard from both of the all about the other one and of course I’m not saying a word and just let them vent. One of tho two just had a huge fight with her I don’t know what to call him, potential boyfriend? So she is upset and doesn’t know what to do. I’m the one not in a relationship and everybody calls me for advice. Then always they do the opposite of what I tell them and when it doesn’t work they come back asking how to fix it.
I keep telling them men are simple creatures, give them a beer, the remote, a ham sandwich/chicken wings and some hot sex at half time and he’s yours forever.
