Happy Toosday!
It’s a very cold 12 degrees outside. No wonder the critters don’t want to go out.
I have to go out to get Adam’s pills today, but that can wait until it warms up a bit and the sun comes out.

Hello all. 2Day is at 35F and only adding another 10F for the day, so another reason to hibernate. At least there is no rain predicted. Need to make myself presentable and do a little shopping (must get items are laundry detergent and hamburger buns).
Swampy, been in those type of meetings before; hope nobody had a powerpoint presentation…
George, amazing what we got done when we were young, isn’t it?

Congrats on the big win, Bumba!
Last night, Romeo made Chicken Tikka Masala, and the kids liked it. I love it when they try new foods and enjoy them. It’s so much better than the fight that ensues when they don’t. I think he’s making beef stew tonight.
Today is going to drag. It’s crappy, cold, dreary weather out. The kind of weather you want to just lay in bed and sleep through. But I’m here and I’m gonna be working late. Normally Wednesdays are my late day, but tomorrow is my anniversary, so I’m going to work late today. At least, I heard back from some people I needed to hear from yesterday, so I have something to do.
My dog is so spoiled, and I can’t blame anybody but myself.
I was sitting on the couch irking, Ripple and Adam were snoozing on the loveseat. I got some cheese for breakfast, Ripple opens an eye to see what I am doing, then sits up and stares at me because he wants some. So what do I do? Break off a piece and carry it over to him. Like he can’t get his lazy ass off the loveseat and come get it. Then again, why should he get up when he has me trained?
The sun is shining and the snow on the trees is pretty.
Blurf Irking. Back to the dreaded weekly manager meeting today at 1:30 after which I shall head home since it is in that direction. My new furniture arrives today between 3 and 6PM. I am a touch excited about having a place to sit once again.
Tis chilly here. High will only be 69 today. It was 65 when I got up.
Be good everyone.
Generally adulting. Its cold and damp and some serious snow is expected this weekend. Looks like a semi-planned trip to Mansfield Ohio may be off.
Just got the word that RoxStar and her mom are feeling better. So that’s a plus.
Been a busy morning, and it will continue into the afternoon. The sun is shining, and with my dark car, the steering wheel may not be freezing when it’s time to go home.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Going out to watch the canes/ Rangers game tonight.
Yay for Roxstar and mom recovering!
FCM, glad to hear the family is feeling better; but don’t worry, somebody will be catching something else soon…:p;)
Ruble, Mansfield? I didn’t visit there even when I lived in Ohio. But to each their own…![]()

Butters, enjoy the meeting (HA!). Better yet, enjoy the time off after it.
Sari, no more complaining about the ‘Brat’, now that we can see how well he has you trained.
Juliet, you’ve convinced me I need a nap this afternoon; thanks!
Ok, I think my snark bag is empty…
Got the groceries and decided to make my once-a-month 5 Guys stop today, so I am well-stuffed.
To show how exciting my life is, I am spending way to much time recently on this site: Virtual Railfan - YouTube I can’t help it, I’ve loved watching trains since I was 3-4 years old, and I guess I never outgrew it.
“The snark is strong with this one.” :dubious:
Is there any web site that tracks trains? I often wonder where they are when I here them at home. Mo-Pac has a large yard in North Little Rock.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry is laundered and stored where it all lives until dirtied up again. I had to put on adult goin’ out clothes because I needed an ink cartridge for the printer. Life can be so hard! I could do that ink on demand thing online but I don’t print a lot so never bothered to set that up. I bought two black ink cartridges at Staples which will most likely last me a year. Poke tenderloin is cookin’ away in the slow cooker. I decided on sweet N.O.T. instead of smashed N.O.T. just cause. Oh and I have been readin’ up on CDI stuff. I await with eager anticipation (not) the result of my Myers-Briggs, :dubious:
How dare you sit around & watch trains whilst you’re out of snark. Get thee to the store posthaste to replenish!
Other than that I got nuffin’.
(Except the top of the page!!!
)
It’s been raining here since yesterday. Yay, says I (other than the mud the dogs are finding). The Sierra is getting several feet of snow, which is a Very Good Thing. We have hopes for a non-drought year.
It’s been about 50, and cloudy all day. 'Beamer is off for his second week at the new school. So far, everything is going well.
Akiko-pup is letting our chi-hooah-hooah climb on her head again. She is a good girl.
What does it mean, “chi-hooah-hooah”?
It a Swampyism for a Chi-yip-yap, aka, a ‘punt’.
How did you slip in there, Bear? I looked & was going to edit iffn I wasn’t topper.
One doesn’t buy snark, one hunts it.
As in a little boat?
:dubious:
I decided I needed a new external hard drive to consolidate my back-up files. I was planning on a 2 terrabyte drive but I would be happier with a 4 terrabyte drive if I could find one at a good price.
I checked an online ad at Staples and they were advertising a 4 terrabyte drive for ninety dollars. I called and they said they had it in stock. So I drove out to Stables on Saturday to pick it up, which was not a problem because I had prior plans to go to Rochester on Saturday anyway.
There was a little runaround at Staples but they finally did produce the drive I was looking for. And as a bonus it turned out there was an additional discount so I only paid eighty dollars. I was happy.
Then my happiness declined on Sunday. When I opened the box I found that it didn’t include the cable to connect the drive to my computer. Which is probably the reason why it was so discounted (and I’m hoping it’s the only reason). And it needed a USB to USB cable.
I drove to my local Walmart and Big Lots on Sunday and neither of them sells USB to USB cables. On Monday, I made an unplanned drive back into Rochester. I checked Staples. I checked Best Buy. I checked Target. I checked Dollar General. I checked Office Max. I checked Five Below. I checked three different independent computer stores.
What I found was that USB to USB cables are incredibly rare. The only place that had one was Best Buy and they wanted twenty-five dollars for it. I asked the manager if that was the only one they sold. He said it was and asked if there was a problem with it. I told him the problem was that I could buy one on Amazon for less than a quarter of that price.
Which is what I ended up doing when I got home. I ordered one on Amazon for $5.50. I didn’t pay for expedited shipping (which would have cost six more dollars) so it said the delivery would take some time between seven to eleven days. Seven days would be Martin Luther King Day so I figured it would be after that. But I got an email today saying they’ve already shipped it and it’s scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
Brick and mortar stores need to step up their game if they want to survive.
You must have a lot of educational pictures.
I went out to get the cat’s pills. When the vet said she was writing a script I didn’t know she meant she was actually writing a script. So we (I took Ripple with me) went off to the cvs. That meant a wait so we went down to the dog park. I thought it there was nobody there I’d let him check it out but the downhill part of the sidewalk was all icy. The flat part was clear.
Some older woman pulled up while I was there, we chatted a bit, then she happily walked down the icy hill. Made me feel kind of bad, that she is older than I am and didn’t let a little bit of ice stop her.
She told me she had brought her dog early in the morning when it was 14 degrees outside.
I think her dog is more spoiled than mine.
When we were waiting in line at the cvs some guy walked by with a bag of McD’s food. Ripple got a whiff and his tail started wagging. No fast food, I came home and made him and my son some eggs and toast.
Now Ripple is bringing me the mail, one piece at a time. Today is junk mail day, it could take a long time.
