Long time in the MMP

TB, you helping your daughter with her arithmatic homework reminds me of my dad helping me with mine. I’m sorry about your co-worker.

It’s raining here again. I started to take the back way home today so’s I could swing through the post office to mail bills. I got a couple of miles down the road when I met standing water. Turned the grey ghost around and took the other way home. We’re under a flood watch after midnight and Stewart Creek is ready to overflow its banks a couple of blocks from me. I’m thinking maybe an ark is in order. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I’m back.

Brother is doing well, he’s taking Physical and Speech therapy and he’s not allowed to drive yet, but I see very little difference in him except he sometimes has trouble coming up with a word and he’ll lose his train of thought now and then (i.e., he’s switching between channels and then stops while reading the program info and then doesn’t go on from there), but I’d say he’s about 95% back. Still, I’m glad I got up there to see him and verify it fro myself.

Rainy down here (was dry on my trip back until I got halfway between Nashville and Huntsville) so I’ve been inside catching up on my mail and paying bills.

Haven’t read the rest of the MMP yet (I’ll get to it), so hugs/tears/bad jokes/laughter/grins and any other associated emotions required.

Happy to be back, y’all.

well the sun came out and it stopped so prayer worked ……

its the same here red …. our aqueduct and dam is full and la county is going to have no idea what to do when all the snow in the hills melts ………

Roxy got her bottle at 7:30, and she was unconscious by 8. Hope I didn’t put too much tequila in it…

Kidding! :stuck_out_tongue: I wore her out with playtime, because I’m da bestest grandmother there is! I’m also tahred - toddling off to bed soon, hoping I don’t wake stupid early again.

Glad your brother is progressing well metal mouse. Stay dry!

WHAT?!?!?

Tell it to sit down! :stuck_out_tongue:

Shhh. Shhh. Shhh. He’s back; stop talking about him.

Uhhh, no reason to do that RustingRat. Nope, we didn’t talk disparagingly about you when you were gone. Not one bit. :o

Mooommm, that is sooo wrong! (You’re s’posed to give young’uns brandy, not tequila!)

On their gums! Not in their bottle.

ehh a few of the older Latina grandmas I knew admitted to putting a few drops in the bottle so they and the baby could sleep after a long day of grouchiness when their kids were young “it was a few drops for them but not too many and a shot or two for me and we slept all night”… daughters were scandalized until they had the grandkids that cried for hours …… they didn’t think it was quite so evil after that

CANES WIN!!! And I’m all over Facebook.

When I do this I’m an “alcoholic” and “need help”

Welocme back, Metal Mouse! what did you bring us?

Last day of placement today; been interesting, but I’m really looking forward to Sunday. What’s happening on Sunday? Nothing.

I asked if I’m be able to come back and volunteer a bit in summer, 'cos everyone keeps telling me about the interesting stuff they’re going to be doing, but it’s still too early in the season. Hopefully it should work out; I’ll technically not be a student over this summer (this course finishes May, top-up year doesn’t start til September) which makes it a bit more complicated.

Glad the bro’s OK Metal Mouse.

Guess who’s awake, dammit… I was having a rather disturbing dream involving kittehs and puppehs and deadly snakes. So I’m awake.

Yeah, yeah, Happy Firday. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy (dark) with a predicted high of 82 and maybe N.O.S. this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly again. I shall perform candle duty over to the church house today. I shall also be showin’ someone all the ins and outs of said duty. I hope to hand this duty off to a couple other folks soon. I feel one should spread the joy. We shall sup upon steak sammiches, fixin’s, and oven fries. When I did yestiddy’s country fried steak, I set four pieces aside for tonight’s sammiches. I’m all efficient like that.

MetalMouse welcome back! Glad bro is doin’ well and the trip was good.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Such bother!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Happy Firday!

Not that it is happy, but maybe it will be.

The plumbing issue has not been fixed because the asshole landlord (lawyer who is handling the estate) has not allowed the work to be done.
Yesterday I called the city, explained the situation, they were very helpful and called the management company, who said they are waiting to hear from the lawyer. I call bullshit on it because what if this was an electrical problem, or a burst pipe, and a broken furnace? Really, it takes this long to get an answer?
I get the same old, well offices were closed on Wednesday because of the snow, and once again I call bullshit. And they weren’t closed yesterday.
Anyway, the city guy asked me to wait a day, and then my next step is the county health department.
I am waiting for offices to open and I am going to call the probate office and see if I can find out who the lawyer is, and maybe somebody in that office can explain to me why the asshole isn’t doing his job.

Then on Wednesday my computer died. I had been thinking about getting a new one anyway, mine was about 10 years old, and it was having issues. I got a cheap one, the guy at Best Buy recommended to next level up but they didn’t have any in stock and I couldn’t wait. My son needs it for his school irk. Then after I spent hours researching what I needed, talking with a sales person, order it to pick it up, then my computer decided to start working again. However, it is not going to last long, the fan isn’t working so I can use it for only a few minutes before it shuts itself down. So I am getting as much stuff copied over as I can.
I hate this one though, and I think I am going to let my son have this solely for school work, and get a chrome book or something similar for myself.
His laptop is 10-11 years old, but all he uses it for is gaming, and any school work that doesn’t require any him to download any software or create files.

So maybe I’ll hear something today about the plumbing, but I don’t think so, because I think the lawyer is just not going to approve it. And if nothing gets done today then I have the weekend to wait.
And I am probably going to spend several hours with my son trying to get all his school stuff downloaded onto this computer, and try to copy as many files as I can before my old one dies for real. He needs to wash clothes, so we may have to make a trip to the laundry mat, and we have to pick up groceries today.

Welcome back MetalMouse, and glad your brother is doing better.

I am not a happy person right now, and if thoughts could kick ass there would be a few people limping around with sore backsides.

Up for reals now, and glad I’m not on sari’s List. I can’t believe the city can’t/won’t do something about this! Kick ass, woman!!!

Just finished breakfast. Shortly, I will shower and dress, then settle in to relearn SolidWorks and do some design work for FCD. He’s been working almost a year on this heat sink project, and the company that’s designing the antenna that gets installed in it keeps changing the design. I think we’re now on the 8th iteration of redesign. Some people on the team are real idiots - like the guy who insists on a fungus test. It’s aluminum - it doesn’t support fungus! Sheesh!

Anyway, that’ll be much of my day. The design won’t be a huge problem - relearning the software will be - I haven’t used it since 2013. Plus I have to use Daughter’s computer because we only have 2 licenses for the software, so I can’t have it on mine. First world problems.

Onward!

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off today. It’s raining, and Gordie is refusing to go outside.

Finally some good news. The city called me back and the lawyer finally approved the work.
Now I am waiting to hear from roto-rooter. If I don’t hear by 10, I’ll call them.

One problem down, now to finish setting up the computer.

Doggio, why are you all over Farcebook? Did the USPS join FB & put their ‘wall’ on it?

Computer fans are relatively cheap (some are < $10) & relatively easy to install. Figure out what you need & pick one up & install it. It’ll buy you some time to both get data off & decide what you really want in a new computer, get it, & set it up.

Secondly, once you have a new computer, you can pull the HDD out of the existing one & plug it into the new one (might need an adapter if you want to plug it in as an external HDD); this way you can still access your data after you get rid of the old one.

I was looking up online how to replace a fan, so it is an option.

But now I am back to being pissed because the management company has not called roto rooter and they can’t schedule anything until they do.

One of my friends told me I should scoop up all the sewage and dump it in their office.

They tapped the post win celebration, and I was front and center. Although I should stay out of Conshohoken till the Statue of Limitations runs out.

Wow, Sari, that plumbing situation is nuts! You are way more resourceful than I would have been… I would never have thought to contact probate to try to find the lawyer.

Not much going on in my world by work and kids. I keep plowing through. Gonna get a manicure with my daughter tomorrow. She’s going to a Father-Daughter dance on Saturday night, so we’re getting our nails done before it. We haven’t gotten our nails done together since last summer.
