I’m sending hugs to pearl, wordy, and sari. I am so sorry.
It’s currently 44 degrees, cloudy and wet. The expected high is 51 with a mix of cloudy skies and rain showers.
Dicey, ouch on the toe!
Metal Mouse, that last part of the flight sounds both exhilarating and scary. I cannot wait to see your pics.
FCM, I hope your breakfast is tasty and that you and FCD continue to enjoy your trip.
I don’t have any specific plans in mind for today. I do need to take care of some errands, but am wavering on whether I should take care of them today or tomorrow.
I also have a gnawing and craving for some pot roast, so I may head out into the wilds of suburbia to pick up the fixings for that. It’s hard to say. I may just hang out here with Polar. He does less and less well with my departures from the house and I always feel an incredible amount of guilt when I do leave. He’s real good at making us feel guilty too. I’d say he has us well-trained in his dotage.
Speaking of dotage; have you all seen this? Bobi How lucky is that family?
Well, I should eat some yogurt and get that kitchen tidied up. I hope you all have a good day.
I got an email from the Water & Sewer District for my water and sewer bill. Normally, it’s around $90. This bill is for $190. Of course I get this on a Saturday, when I can’t call them and say, ‘WTFO?’
peedin I’ll wave on my way to my daughter’s next week; she’s about 1-1/2 miles northwest of Wrigley.
Pearl oh, didn’t get the connection; I was more into music of The Carpenters at that point in my life. Keeping Pearl’s nephew, his parents/family in my prayers. So very sorry.
About 10 years ago, I noticed that when figure skating events were held in Asia (Korea/Japan), that most of the women were wearing surgical masks. I sort of made fun of them at that time. Well, now I’m the one wearing a mask almost all of the time that I’m not at home or outside. It’s been great not being sick at all the last 3 years. Also, due to hubs diagnosis, it’s important that I don’t bring any germs home.
Swampy our daughter informed me that she and the rest of the Vestry are attending a class at a college on how to be a better Vestry member today.
FCM I hope you get to walk along the beach and get some negative ions. Hot tub time sounds wonderful! I hope you have great weather for your drive along US1.
VanGo that’s happens more and more often to me.
yanker The black pup looks a lot like Bella; she was a rescue from Tejas but I think from very south TX. She had become separated from her family during the hurricane about 5 or 6 years ago and they weren’t able to reunite them; no chip.
Doyle’s Diner was great! I wouldn’t mind going back for supper! After, we drove to Rehoboth and walked around a very little bit - it was 22° and the cold really hurt FCD’s knees. So we had a nice drive back and now we’re chilling. Maybe hot tub soon. Or not. Don’t really care.
It’s a nice day so far. I can hear the waves even with the door shut.
From -7F yesterday to +34F today; what we called a “chinook” in Alaska. A marked improvement, whatever one calls it. Perhaps it explains the increased knee pain yesterday. Man, the static electricity in this place is really something, even with two humidifiers going. It’s one reason I really dislike forced-air heating. The cat’s not too thrilled with it, either.
Got ambitious and made a batch of oatmeal/raisin/cranberry/walnut cookies yesterday. This morning’s breaking of the fast was a fried egg/bacon/mayo/sriracha sandwich on English muffin, not that I’m obsessing on food today. We’re headed out for Hispanic with the niece tomorrow to an arepa restaurant.
Today I shall cook. Also clean a bit, set the table, and make a Welcome sin for the door, a tradition in my family. Of course, it’s not a tradition in daughter’s in-law family and certainly not in sister-in-law’s partner’s family, but once you’re connected to either of my kids, you get sucked into my traditions, like it or not. OK, not the “or not” part. All my daughter’s relatives who visit have come to expect an original Welcome sign. I try to make them clever and individualized. Anyway, there’s that.
MetalMouse, I looked up Ushuaia because all I knew about it was that it was in southern Tierra del Fuego. According to Wiki, I’ve been pronouncing it wrong? I am not a Spanish speaker, but I thought it was pronounced oo-shWY-uh. Wikipedia says the accent mark is on the first A, but since I don’t speak Spanish, all I can figure is it’s supposed to be pronounced oo-shWAY-ya? Help. Or Ayuda.
Also, I saw a photo of a building with a gigantic ball on top. I’m curious as to what it is.
cookie, chinooks were all that saved my sanity all those years in northern Montana. Glad they give relief to northern Minnesota.
This will be short, I am typing this on my cell so will try to be more responsive later. Eating lunch at 3pm, was on the tour (including a steam train ride and some nice sights (but Alaska is prettier IMHO). Then picked up luggage at first hotel and carried it three blocks to my hotel for the night (Cruise paying for it). Got the paperwork for the cruise and managed to drop it through the gap in the elevator and the lobby! Hotel folks made copies of another passenger’s paperwork so it wasn’t a major disaster. Then found out I have a roommate tonight, we haven’t met yet but his luggage is there.
Sorry lunch is here, you won’t believe what they call a grilled cheese sammich (4 sandwiches) and the French fries are a full platter in themselves. Take care all.
I thought about topping it with an egg, and having bacon on the side. Maybe the protein would help counteract the carbohydrates. Maybe I’ll try that next week. Do you use cream when you top it with an egg?
It’s noon, so I have to think about dinner. Aspara nikumaki? Have to go to the supermarket for beef and asparagus. Pork ‘Wiener Schnitzel’? Have to go to the supermarket for pork cutlets. Wait… Pork? We have thin, bone-in pork chops. And potatoes to mash. And yellow squash to steam. That’s the ticket! But I still have to go to the supermarket for Shake 'N Bake. (We like Shake 'N Bake pork chops. Don’t judge me.)
Nope, just salt and pepper. Dairy doesn’t really agree with me, other than a dollop in my coffee. I do over easy eggs, so the yolk gets mixed in with the oats.
Howdy Y’all! We had an early N.O.L. at the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet and have accomplished nappage. ‘Tis a cool but N.O.S. afternoon so we may day drink out on the back porch in a bit. Nuttin’ fancy, as the desire for a beerverage is strong. Oh, and the cake is made. Go Me!
