Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 9c/49f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Instead of the weather, do you want to talk about the one time I was forced to wear fucking diapers”? No, I think not!
Nothing much of any excitement here, I have been irking at home and have achieved a few things but nothing significant. We have lots of strikes going on today - train drivers, teachers, lecturers, postal workers, medical professionals - so lots of disruption for a big chunk of the population. I’m glad to be working at home at least I can do stuff without having to brave public transport which may or may not be there.
ace hubby will need time to absorb what the docs are telling him, and will need to adjust to whatever his health needs are telling him. Just as you will do, best to get as much info as you can and ask the docs to explain it in very simple terms (as many times as necessary) so that you both understand completely what they’re doing.
metal mouse glad to hear you arrived in time for the flight and even gave TSA a treat on the way!
Moooom I think you are right to leave BIL to his own devices, he is a grown man and perfectly capable of taking charge of his own life if he chose to do so. Presumably he prefers to have someone else do all the running for him but there’s no reason why you and FCD should do that.
I have nothing else…rumbletums must be dealt with and I have a meeting in 50 minutes. Thank goodness I am fit enough to go to the pub tonight!
Nona hugs to you. I know the worries that heart conditions cause.
**Metalmouse ** safe travels.
Peaches welcome back.
I went to the dentist for a cleaning yesterday. Felt so good. Today is house cleaning day and boy does it need it. My friend that I went on the cruise with is coming back to visit in March so I guess we’ll have some beach days.
Have a great day everyone
We’ve been burning cedar. Some of it was from a termite-ridden tree we had cut down a couple of years ago. I’d salvaged the non-termitey wood and gave the eaten bits away for beach/campfire wood. That’s in the woodshed I built from recycled materials. We’re also burning the wood from the Japanese cedar we cut down last year. (This is the one I was splitting when I crushed my hand, and just finished hand-splitting Saturday.) The cedar burns very quickly; but yeah, warms the house. There’s some oak in the back of the woodshed that we’ll get to eventually.
We’ve got a huge dead tree in the yard that will come down this spring. I will cut up the branches for firewood. And I’ll ask what they’d charge to split the rest. I can stack but neither FCD nor I can split. We can look into renting a splitter and see what is the cheapest option.
I got the squid, and I gave him his pill, so he should be all set . Does anybody have the goat ready? Better get the bucket, too. You know what happened the last time…
Roxy’s fever went back up, so I drugged her (tylenol) and she’s lying on the couch watching Blaze. Tobias will get a bottle soon and maybe (haha) he’ll nap…
I think the local hardware store here rents theirs for $65/day or $45 for half a day. It’s a lot easier than using a splitting maul, a couple of axes, a sledge hammer, and wedges. Just don’t forget to take your hand out of the way!
Good afternoon all It’s a balmy 25* this afternoon in the Mitten. Woke up shortly after 4am, couldn’t fall back to sleep right away so looked at the Gram for awhile. Luckily I was able to fall back to sleep and woke up about 8:30ish. Stayed in bed for another couple hours relaxing/reading the intertoobs. Showered, had a brunch of chili cheese omelette, got soaped up, after catching up on the MMP will go to the Fitness Center. Not sure what dinner will be. I was going to make split pea soup. I have a ham hock but need some other ingrediants and texted Hubs to buy them while he was at the grocery store. He had his phone silenced so he did not get the texts. Drat. Will worry about that later.
Does this mean you’ve done the Camino de Santiago, more than once? I would really like to hike it!
Bumbazine good for you for standing up for yourself; Dad always said don’t let others walk all over you.
I’ve told Hubs that once he goes, I’m likely to eat only blueberry pie from Brookfield Farms (the absolute best in the world) and Fritos. Ha.
My sister asked me to accompany her to the local college cuisine program for a day after Valentine’s dinner but I have to leave the day before to go take care of Bella for 5 days. Shucks. We don’t get together often and usually I’m the one “reaching out”
Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions and et fried chikin N.O.L.s. Then nappage and day drinkage were accomplished. Oh and I finally got the schedule of servers for February all done and emailed to the appropriate persons. Go Me! Now chillage continues.
I hope that RoxStar feels better soonest Mooooooom.
ace, I don’t know about you, but when I was diagnosed as diabetic, it took quite a while to absorb my new reality (really, I didn’t take very good care of it for the first couple of years). Your hubby will likely need some time and support to face something that will affect the rest of his life. Hugs to you both.
We had a late start this morning, so I got to sleep a couple of extra hours. The roads weren’t bad at all, but my car was covered with ice when I went out this morning. Now, the weather guessers are calling for worse tonight. We’ll see.
Yes, St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela once, and Pamplona to Astorga once. Next will be Astorga to Santiago de Compostela. I like it a lot and I’d be glad to answer questions if you’ve got any now.
We had a nice pot roast supper and the blueberry sour cream coffee cake was really good. Just got back from taking MIL her Eliquis and giving her the rest of the cake. FCD takes her to the cardiologist tomorrow to get her pacemaker checked and they’ll head to Indy on Firday morning.
I’ll have both kids again tomorrow, and when I drop them off, I’ll leave Higgs there. Then home to pack.
