Looking towards spring in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and put away. Sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ were achieved. Sup got made and et. Fartfest is now ensuin’. Thus has it been in swampland on a balmy (mid 70s) Winter’s day.

{{{Ace}}} Hope the medical ptbs can figure out the best outcome for your husband. Also hope UHC gets it in gear and approves the stuff that needs to be done. You’re the cook, so what you want for dinner is the answer.

MOOOOOOM glad things are movin’ along on the estate stuff. It’s all such a PITA! Here’s hopin’ RoxStar is feelin’ better soonest. Good idea on the POAs.

Taters glad you’re feelin’ better today. Good call to wfh today.

Cookie always good to find a way to make cookin’ a little easier.

Yanker sump’n involvin’ a train would make the country song trifecta. Peaches because she’s from Jawja. I am sure you are ready to reach out and strangle the insurance ptb.

sari glad a good time was had by all at the park. Ripple is a trouper! Yay for son’s first unemployment check!

BooFae hope you’re better soonest. Glad you got to wfh today.

Pearl all appropriate/inappropriate appendages are crossed.

WetOne glad Ursala Kitteh and you survived the vet. The horses have the right idea!

Lily we did a bunch of remodel on da cave four years ago. It was all “let’s spruce the place up by makin’ a biiiiiig mess for months on end!” I have to say, though, the end product was worth it all. I was and still am very happy with all the work that got done.

MetalMouse glad you made it to Miami. I vote for the five a.m. shuttle and a leisurely break of the fast at the airport, like Boo said.

red hope the weather does not get too bad.

Well, BIL is at it again - denying he had any seizures, refusing to get refills on his seizure meds, which have run out, and generally reverting to being an ass. I have a sickening feeling that when MIL comes back from Indy, she’ll find her youngest son dead in the apartment. FCD has washed his hands of the whole thing and I can’t say I blame him.

We sooooooo need this getaway.

I was kinda wondering who was going to see to BIL’s meals and laundry while your MIL is away. What a mess :frowning:

Hurray for Ripple enjoying life. I know that all of you were really missing your pack time.

They are doing some work at the junction and our power keeps flickering, which is very annoying for me. Hubs the gamer is losing his mind because he keeps crashing and getting lag killed.

Our housekeeper is coming back tomorrow. The slobs are rejoicing. Actually, its not that bad as long as you don’t look at the floors. I’ve been sweeping and dusting and wiping while wondering how I got so spoiled cause I didn’t use to mind it nearly as much as I do now.

I’m looking forward to being able to open the windows and hear the birds. I miss the soundtrack during the winter.

Nothing much to report here in the 'burgh today. I got my butt out of bed at a reasonable hour, responded to a bunch of emails, got some more [neverending!] paperwork done, and threw out a bunch of work papers, instructions, etc. that I
no longer need since I RETIRED. That felt really good!

It’s cold and snowing and I’m on a mission to use up things from my freezer, so I pulled out some slightly freezer burnt beef stew meat and cut up some of my overabundance of carrots, onions and celery. It all went in the crockpot and I ignored it for 7 hours, at which time I woke up from my nap and had a lovely hot dinner waiting for me.

It’s trash night, so I suppose I should scoop Her Majesty’s litter boxes and get everything out to the curb before I forget.

See yinz tomorrow!

JtC once one has outsourced house irk, one becomes spoiled and finds it oh so onerous! I speak as one who has done so and now pretends houseirk is soooooo beneath one of my retired, slothful status.

Not the best hockey tonight, but the Manhattan makes up for it.

Write one every day?
Is a tough challenge to do
OOO, look! Shiny things!

Then they’ll “circle back” to it and table it till next meeting.

You are SO right, getting out the long duster to do the corners is just so much bother that I always need to have a nice smoke afterwards. Hubs wanted to have someone else in a couple of times while she was sick, but I was too worried that she would find out that we had cheated on her and want to break up with us. That would be HORRIBLE!!!

That there’s a fine haiku.

I left for irk at 05:15 this morning. As usual on commuting days, I was still half asleep. I had my eyes down when I walked out the door in the dark, with the porch light on, and I was like, ‘Oh! There’s frost!’ I stepped down and then looked up… to get snow in my eyes. Yep, it was snowing. Just a dusting, and it stopped before Bellingham. I cam home, and there was snow on the ground. Wifey, RN rescheduled her patients because she doesn’t drive in the snow. Chicken! She said it snowed until about 13 o’clock, and we’re expecting some more snow in an hour or so. Won’t be much.

I’m feeling stupid. I’ve seen the acronym “MMP” many times in many threads in the SDMB, but I CANNOT suss it out. Somebody enlighten me so I slap my forehead.

I looked in The Free Dictionary. They had a list 93 recognized meanings!

Here, have a FAQ and welcome to the madhouse. If you talk about your pets, we expect pictures.

Hubs likes keeping the place colder than I like, but I spend most of my awake time in my stitching room with a oil heater going and the door pushed almost closed so our feline overlords can come in. Gormless George had just managed to figure out how to push a door open with his nose when winter set in but has never learned how to close it again when he wants it closed.

I got tired of feeling the cold draft on my back, getting up and closing the door then going back and counting threads again just to do it all over again when one of the rotten beasts wanted on the other side again.

I ordered a door closer thing. Hubs put it up and adjusted it so the door would stay open two inches because that’s all the adjustment it had. VeryBadCat figured it out right away because the effort to push the door is just a little more than it was before but the challenge has totally defeated poor GG. He has forgotten everything he knows about doors and sits by all of the doors he could previously open all by hisself and wails his lost and lonesome kitten wail.

I’m still using the door closer thing, but with a pillow big enough to keep the door open enough for GG to be able to stick his head through. If his head fits, the rest of him follows.

BEAUTIFUL!

As for dusting, have you considered one of those cans of compressed air designed for electronics?

CAUTION: Try it on an unobtrusive place first in case the propellant isn’t friendly to the finish.

PS: The system wouldn’t let me quote your photo.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Thank you very much
Themed syllables hard to do
Good luck on the task!

I’m very reluctant to go that route - too many chances to inflict damage. I’m going to ask FCD to make me a long handled tool that will hold a microfiber cloth. I tried a swiffer-like duster, but it just got caught in the strings. I think a cloth will work better.

Now I need to learn how to tune the thing - as soon as I figure which tuning chart I need - I don’t think it’s a 13/12 - too many strings.

Poor RoxStar had a 103° fever this morning. I expect she’ll spend much of today in my bed under the electric blanket watching TV. Poor kid. SIL will be bringing them over a tad later today, giving me time to run to Food Lion. I’m out of bananas and Tobias will not be happy!

FCD is going to the Social Security office this morning - I don’t envy him that at all. But the local office seems to be well-run - he went there a few times with his folks and his brother. Here’s hoping it goes quickly today. Is the first of the month a bad time at SS?

He’s perfectly capable of feeding himself and doing his own laundry - he did have his own apartment in Ocala for several years. But while she’s gone, he’s likely to subsist on popcorn and Coke… Not our problem - that’s what we’ll keep telling ourselves. If he asked, if he made an effort, we’d do all we could to help him, but he’s argumentative and in deep denial about his health and there’s nothing we can do, so we won’t.

OK, Food Lion is now open - off I go on my banana quest!

Happy Wednesday!!

Good morning, everyone.

Thank you all for the kind words, and information! Hubs is put out with the entire situation, and there’s really no talking to him about it. He’s being obstinate about the entire situation. Coming to terms with it all, I guess, is bothering him. So, we’ll see what happens after this next test. Ugh.

I’m getting ready to get the last of the coffee that I made this morning. After that, there will be laundry to do. I need to take out something to cook up for dinner. Don’t know exactly what, but, I’ll figure out something. Goulash sounds good, but, I can’t have the pasta. So, that’s out. Maybe I can make a batch, and take a bowl out for me, before I add the pasta. That’d work. Or…Might just be burgers. I can deal with that. Maybe bacon cheeseburgers. Bacon is always welcome around here!

It’s a cool 9F. It’ll be getting up to around 30F, later. Mostly sunny, too.
It’s still winter in Indiana. It’s going to be into the 50s next week, though. We native Hoosiers call it ‘shorts and flip~flops weather’. Can’t beat that!

I need to get that last cup of coffee, now. Have a good day, everyone.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 71 and mostly cloudy for the day. Looks like the next two days will be rainy ones. We shall see. Today we procure provisions. I foresee the main need to feed today to be Fried chikin N.O.L.s from the Pubic Sto’. Then we shall be our usual slothful and useless selves.

JtC why must you all continually find ways to make life so difficult for GG! Y’all know he’s all beauty and no brains.

MOOOOOOM poor RoxStar! Hope she feels better soonest.

ace this would be hard to be able to come to terms with if it were me. Give hubby time to adjust and I am sure he’ll come around. Here’s hopin’ for the best possible outcome.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is so difficult!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Good morning everyone, it’s gotten up to 27F this morning. That’s the high for the last 3 days. Up and working on coffee, with no plans beyond “slothing” (this is a verb now, right?) and clicking through 800 titles on 4 streaming sites – and then complaining there’s nothing to watch. I’m getting good at this.

Yesterday I improved my mood by making reservations for a 12 day trip to the gulf coast. I figure it’ll give me something to look forward to and prepare for. I’m already sorting through my rods and reels for surf-fishing equipment - and trying to get a beach access permit for the truck (in Texas many of the beaches are actually named highways, but you need a permit to drive on them).

I probably should have done this a few weeks ago, but at this point I think it would only save a few days. It might even delay stuff more as their management focuses on dealing with an external “threat”. I honestly think the low-level employees I deal with (you know – the ones doing the actual work) are trying their best. There have been a lot of delays outside their control (getting into the shop, getting scheduled for disassembly, etc.). Everyone seems short of employees and I’m reluctant, especially now, to lower the boom.

I figure I’ll hang on another week and see if they sort it out. I’ve already solved the problems from my end by replacing the truck myself. I’m just waiting on a reimbursement to replenish my savings account.

Howdy all. At the gate waiting to board my flight to Buenos Aires, my alarm didn’t go off so I took the 6am bus but still got through in less than an hour. One embarrassing thing; while going through security I had to take my belt off and my slack are still the old waist and…I flashed the TSA folks. No comments were heard so maybe they were all to busy to notice.

Do not recommend Miami Airport. A ham sandwich and coke cost me $15.70!!!

Would reply to all but they will start boarding in ten minutes and I don’t want to be half-done. Take care all and I’ll check in when I can. All y’all take care now.

Best wishes for him and you. My father’s heart function was around that and he managed pretty well (he died of something else, unrelated).
