Which is, among other things, a message board where fans and the people from the show can interact. It looks a lot like the Bronze Beta, which was a similar site for the Buffyverse. Not surprisingly, Fury seems to be prolific.

I think Vincent van Dog would actually be a very good doggie name.

Are we clear what’s up with the great hunter? I mean, the flashbacks showed him in cubicle hell. Were did he pick up all the stuff - od’ing on guns&ammo? Are we really sure he’s got an agenda? I get more and more a feeling that it’s the Fairy of Misdirection™ at work and he’s just a delusional old man. I keep coming back to him, looking on the ground and saying there are tracks of three separate people and signs of struggle… I just don’t buy that. He’s still intriguing though.

The passenger list of that plane is reading more and more like Con Air.

Are all of them wicked in one way or another? Is this purgatory?

And did CFL live in a hut? I got the impression that the structure seemed more solid.

Next new ep is 2/09 and then we get new eps four weeks in a row.

Yeah, usually a dog belongs to everyone in the family, but (waaay to much conjecturing here) I bet Brian got the dog because he wanted one, said, “It’s my dog” and even if Walt played with him a lot, he (Walt) knew on some level that the dog was “really” Brian’s. That’s why he told Michael that Vincent belonged to Brian.
I think Michael was more than willing to take the dog if it meant a lot to Walt, and because, as you said, he needs stability and comfort at this point. What I meant was maybe Michael made all the travel arrangements, then went ahead and took the dog without Brian knowing.

I wonder if Crazy French Lady had anything to do with Claire getting free? That would be kinda cool.

I’m also voting for Claire having already given birth.

Yes. I certainly agree this is what happened (except Brian made the travel plans).

Hmmm…that reminds me. Most people on this plane (not all) are there because someone else made their reservations (Claire, Michael, Walt, Locke, Kate, perhaps Sawyer, and technically Jin and Shannon).

The antagonist of this episode is not an alien, government agent, or zombie.

It’s a really crappy travel agent!

Was I the only one wondering if Locke was out with his whistle to try and tame the Polar Bear?

It seems that like the titles of the episodes have double meanings, the whole series does as well. Not only are these people lost in the physical sense but it seems like before they crashed these people were lost in their lives, trying to figure out where to go.

Okay, I don’t know why, but that post made me thinkg of Crazy French Lady swinging to the rescue on vines à la Tarzan. “Ééééééé-éééÉÉÉééé-ééééé!” (What? That’s the French Tarzan yell.)

I dunno if Crazy French Lady could do that. She seems pretty pre-occupied with finding “Alex”. I don’t see her sneaking into their camp. I think she may know where the others hang out, but her frustration withe way the others are in charge of the braodcast and the others are in control of the power suggests she isn’t too keen on altercations with them. I could be very wrong though.

I’m guessing Claire had the baby… but then we run into the point mentioned in previous threads (in which it was specualted that maybe “Raised by Another” meant Chalie woudl raise Claire Jr.) that a newborn would have a tough time without mommy milk. No formula on the island and whatnot. Hmm… it’s a puzzlement!

No but when it turned out to be Claire I thought “Well, gee, why didn’t they try the magic whistle days ago?”

Tweet… Claire comes out of the woods.

It was so easy.

Hindsight is 20/20

OK, now I’m imaging a Chakra wielding Crazy French Lady with a Xena yell doing flips into the camp, jumping onto a plank, causing the baby to fly into the air, taking out the bad guys with the Chakra, catching the baby, then telling Claire to “run!”

Maybe the polar bear is a lactating momma bear?

… and that’s when my brain exploded.

I’ve been meaning to mention this, but I keep forgetting.

The French word for “light” is…

Clair.

(Well, it is in the “moonlight” sense: clair de lune)

I always thought of her as “cute aussie chick, way too young for me.”
Did her BF wish her ClaireVoyage?

After the first page, it’s all just meaningless speculation anyway.

Ooooh, wait! I’ve got it! Here’s an explanation I know no one has come up with before:

Everyone actually died on the plane, and thus they are all metaphorically “lost” in purgatory! Then Bob Newhart is going to wake up and fine Patrick Duffy in his shower.

I’m looking forward to the scene where Claire kicks the crap out of that snooping Hobbit for invading her privacy and reading her diary!

About her name, “clair” can mean light, but it can also mean clear or transparent. Translating from a French dictionary:

clear: a body which lets light pass through and through which we can see objects clearly.

Will she be the window through which we finally see the nature of the island? I think she’ll be stunned and speechless for the first while, like Charlie was, but her dreams will reveal more about what went on.

The other big question is: who is writing this diary?

Scott? Steve? The TCM?

While watching the episode I had a funny little thought(that I know is not right).

So Walt can Manifest stuff when he is emotional or scared, right?
And a plane crash has to be frightening as hell. right?
So Walt may have inadvertently manifested whatever was the scariest or creepiest thing he could think of or see then, right?
Which showed up as the TCM.

So later, Locke was off hunting the boar, and came upon the TCM. Locke looked directly into the eyes of a 25 foot tall , ferocious, ravening…

Locke!. Locke was probably the creepiest thing he saw at the crash site

Hehe, it gave me a good giggle at least.

I guarantee that Claire is till pregnant. You save the birthing (especially in less-than-ideal conditions) for sweeps, don’t you know.

Are you serious? I’ve read so much about the horror of reading the diary (and Sayid expressed it) but I would have read it cover to cover, first thing. She’s been kidnapped. I’d look for any possible clue. I would imagine in real life all diaries of kidnapped people, when found, are read very carefully.

Just wanted to say…
Great post.

Thanks!! To you and Askia both.

While I am a bit bummed that it is a repeat coming up, the fact that they are repeating such a crucial episode at this time is interesting. It may be instructive to rewatch the episode with the additional set of information we have been given.

What I love is that the show works at many levels at the same time, and can be quite subtle in its foreshadowing. Also, the first impressions of many things turn out to be inaccurate. It truly is a thinking persons show- much like Season 2-4 of BtVS and Season 4 of Angel in many ways.

I have been impressed enough to DVR this season of Alias just in case its this good as well, but have not got a chance to view them yet.
