You’re absolutely right. How 20th century of me. I’m pretty sure she only said “I’m seeing someone.”
rockle–It was the Other Others (Ethan’s Group) who kidnapped Claire, and Danielle who took Turniphead. As of right now, it seems the Bluebeard Others either don’t know or don’t care about Aaron (although they seem to know pretty much everything going on–I’m sure they know he’s there). I can’t be sure about the needles/testing, but what you say sounds pretty good.
Oh … I am conflating my Others, now. Sorry 'bout that. But we can all agree that it wasn’t the Tailies, right? Also, where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? We haven’t seen her in a while.
Not necessarily. If Kate hadn’t been captured, Jack and co. wouldn’t have had to surrender in exchange for Kate’s life. They could have fought, or at least been able to get more out of Bluebeard. With Kate inserting herself into the situation, they had to give in pretty quick. They had no leverage at all.
Do we know that Alex is CFL’s daughter? Has she ever specified a gender? If not, why is everyone assuming that because she hasn’t, it’s a girl?
Why didn’t they take Eko with them in their search for Michael? He’s as good in the jungle as Locke, plus he’s a big huge strong dude and might be of considerably more help than, say, Sawyer who’s only had about four days to recuperate from his shoulder wound?
Why is everything I want to say about this show always in the form of a question?
You left off the person I think is probably the best candidate: Desmond.
He had contact with Jack just before his marriage, and all they talked about was Sarah. This episode contained echoes of that conversation-- Sarah: “You’ll always need something to fix.” Desmond: “What if you could fix her?” Jack also said that he doesn’t believe in miracles, which of course came up again last night. Then, after all that time, Desmond remembers Jack – and he specifically asks how “the girl” is, causing Jack to break down.
Anybody else on the island quite so interested in Jack’s marital situation?
Desmond just looks like the sort of fella who would cuckold another man at the drop of the hat, too.
The only problem is that, at least according to fan timelines, Sarah’s accident and Desmond and Jack’s meeting were proximate to Desmond ending up on the island (three years befor the crash), while the wedding was still two years away, and presumably they were married for a while before the split.
Like you say, the timelines don’t match up. Desmond was getting ready for the race when Sarah was still hospitalized. I’ve decided I like the Libby idea best. Poor Hurley.
Of course, they’re based on the assumption that everybody’s telling the plain truth.
Here’s my new theory: Everything revolves around Desmond, who is an world-class playboy and a total heel. His game is wandering around busting up the marriages of inattentive professionals and living off the proceeds of spectacular divorce settlements. Far from being coincidentally washed up on the island, the whole setup is in fact a combination bachelor pad and evil-genius hideaway – with a built-in diversion for enraged husbands who manage to track him down. “Press this button every 108 minutes, or the world will end. Me, I’m off to find my hidden yacht and set sail for Antigua.”
Ok, I want to thow my hat into the ring for a second.
Locke seemed very interested in why James Ford chose the name “Sawyer.”
I’ve heard of a Sci-Fi author named Robert J. Sawer and since our “Lost” Sawyer has read, A Wrinkle in Time, and Watership Down would it be a stretch he’s read or stuff by R.J. Sawyer? Or that the writers are giving a nod to the guy in some fashion?
I haven’t read him so if anyone here has, can you think of any connection?
I know I’m really grasping at straws here and have spent waaaaay to many brain cells on this today.
Yeah. I considered Desmond as well and realized the time line didn’t matchup.
It would be funny if it were Locke’s dad!
Also, I have a request.
I am having trouble getting my head around the Claire/Aaron kidnapping?
It seems to me that there were TWO attempts.
Ethan took a pregnant Claire and left Charlie for dead. The Claire is returned in the middle of the night (we think she was rescued by CFL?) Ethan returns, all pissed and Charlie guns him down.
Later, once Aaron is born, CFL fakes the black smoke and tries to take Aaron to “The Others” to get back Alex. Sayid and Charlie get him back. CFL says it wasn’t Aaron they were after. (But CFL also said she never SAW the Others. She just heard their whispers. Lot of holes in her plotline).
Now we know that Alex is with BB, so maybe CFL wanted to get Aaron away from Ethan and turn him over to BB. That is the best proof we have that BB and Ethan are not teammates.
But it seems like there is something missing in my facts. Am I leaving anything out?
Was she lying about the black smoke or does that have something to do with the TCM?
I don’t know that Danielle (CFL) knew about Ethan kidnapping Claire (or, for that matter, about Ethan). When CFL kidnapped Aaron, it was to turn him over to the Others, who wanted “the boy” – Danielle definitely didn’t know about Walt at that point, so it was obvious to her who the Others wanted. Except, she was waaaaaaay(lt) wrong. There were two kidnapping attempts on Aaron, but only one of them was actually directed at Aaron. CFL thought she was kidnapping “the boy” but it turns out she got the wrong boy. (Of course, this also assumes that Ethan was specifically targeting the unborn Aaron, and not also “the boy,” who we later learned was Walt.) (Did I sum it up right this time?)
